When Best Buy came out with the chromebook kiosk at a local store, I haf to check it out after reading about it. When I found out this particular model was being sold as a 'deal of the day' item, I had to have one. Being a refurbished unit, I was expecting something like the demo unit but this chromebokk looked and performed virtually like new. For me the size and price was the selling point as I wanted someyhing compact but still budget friendly. Some will say how it closely resembles the mac air which is five times the price. The materials used however are not as high quality as the air and neither is the screen but still not baf. This unit had decent memory and speed and all work is done online as most of the programs are app based. All in all a great product and alternative.

I didn't want to make too big an investment in case I didn't like it so I bought a refurb. I was quite surprised to find the condition like new - no evidence of previous use at all. Everything works as it should, Quite a good deal for browsing and occasional movies on Netflix. A little bit of lag when playing videos but for the price, it's still a great deal. I'm still not in the habit of using it yet - still reach for the Ipad, but for really important typing it fills a void that the Ipad can't. Still not a complete replacement for a real laptop, but it is certainly small and light and what it can do, it does very well.

Convenience Rules

I bought this out of curiosity and a need for a little more convenience. I have a smartphone, a laptop, two desktops, and a Kindle Fire. My wife has taken over the laptop, and I don't do well keyboarding on my smartphone and Kindle. Often I want to use the Internet for things that require keyboarding and I don't want to wait for the desktops to boot up. So I see this great deal from Best Buy for a Samsung Chromebook for $169 + tax, and I thought, "How can I lose?". I was already doing stuff in Google Drive and Microsoft Skydrive, so working mostly in the cloud was no big deal to me. The keyboard is as advertised, Great. You'll love it, even without the delete and end keys. The touchpad was a surprise. I've always been a mouse person, but the touchpad on the Chromebook is good enough so I don't miss the mouse. You don't have to wait for this thing to boot. Open it and you're there instantly. Close it and it''s off. Can't get more convenient than that. The display is better than a tablet, but not as good as a desktop. It's good enough not to annoy you. It streams YouTube, Amazon, and Netflix without a hitch. The sound is fairly decent too, but of course plugging in headphones is better. The Chromebook is considerably lighter and smaller than a laptop, so you can grab it easily and carry it around about like a large tablet. You can print from the Chromebook, but not directly. It has to be done through the cloud. Since I have a network enabled printer, I just connected the Chromebook to it through Google Cloudprint and my wireless network the same as I do my laptop. I'm very pleased with the Chromebook. If lightening strikes it tomorrow, I'll get another one.

I bought this computer after my old HP laptop started shutting down randomly. I thought I was getting an affordable priced, smaller laptop with fast speeds but, I was amazed at how much more I got. This Chromebook connected perfectly to my e-print ready HP printer which, I was concerned I would not be able to print from the Chromebook but, I can and very easily too. Also, I am so used to having all of my Microsoft Windows products but, I was amazed at how easy the Google docs are and how I could easily save as a pdf or rtf version of my document. I love how long the battery lasts, I can use mine for about 7-8 hours on and off, not continuously and then plug in at the end of the day! The Google Drive came with an extra 200gb of storage which is great and I also have 12 free Gogo In Flight passes, that you can use to access the internet while flying.

Great for browsing the web

For the cost, this is a great machine for browsing the internet. I have not used it for many apps to see how well they will perform, but just browsing around on the internet, checking email, streaming music, and displaying on and HD TV through the HDMI port works just fine. It does have a quick boot up time as well. Picking it up on the Deal of the Day was worth the money.
My only complaint is that the period button has fallen off twice. Both times I've been able to just snap it back into place without any issues, but I feel that this might be a repetitive pattern.

I had the CR-48 prototype, the Samsung Chromebook was a great upgrade. The battery life, quick boot time, ability to dual boot linux in multiple ways, and easy of use are awesome. Free Gogo wifi has been very convenient. I have always loved the idea of the chromebook, although I am a software developer... Netflix and hulu work great, what else could you ask for.

A:AnswerAlthough the Chromebooks will have Office like software that can be downloaded, since this is not a Windows Laptop, it will not be directly compatible with MS Office. If you are looking for a Windows based Laptop, please take a look at any of the Series 3, 5, 7 or 9 Samsung laptops.

A:AnswerYou can use a printer with this device through Google's Cloud Print service. Find more info on this here: http://www.google.com/cloudprint/learn/
A:AnswerYou can play basic online games including those that use Flash. Anything that consumes a lot of CPU on a desktop browser or that has advanced graphics is likely to run poorly on the cheaper CPU on a Samsung Chromebook or on an Intel Atom powered Chromebook.
