Very pleased with this refurbished SSD, which I highly recommend as a cost effective replacement for a Hard Disk Drive in a laptop pc. At first, I was reluctant to try a refurbished SSD; however, the one I got worked perfectly ... and I saved money by going with refurbished versus new. Even thought this SSD's capacity is 250GB, it worked to replace a 500 GB HDD, for which I was only using 140GB. The procedure I used was fairly straightforward. First, I cloned the HDD to the SSD. This involved connecting the SSD to the laptop via a USB connection (with a StarTech.com USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD Cable, available from Amazon for about $12), and then running disk cloning software that I had downloaded from the Samsung website. Cloning the HDD took about an hour and a half. After disk cloning, I: Powered down the laptop; disconnected the charging cable; opened the bottom case shell; disconnected the battery; replaced the internal HDD with this SSD; reconnected the battery; closed the bottom case shell; reconnected the charging cable; and, turned on the laptop. I was careful with opening the case, as some of the screws holding the case together were hidden under a rubber strip. Replacing the HDD with the SSD was straightforward, as I used the existing disk drive cradle and SATA connector. Disconnecting the battery was a precaution, to make sure that neither disk drive (original HDD or new SSD) would be damaged. On my laptop I needed to remove some small screws to disconnect the battery; and, when I reinstalled the battery I reinstalling the screws. Booting my laptop pc was now much faster (from over a minute to under 10 seconds). In addition, my software programs run much faster now. Bottom line- cost effective upgrade to breath new life in an aging laptop pc. I highly recommend this upgrade if you feel comfortable with opening a laptop case and doing a technical upgrade similar to changing a memory card.

This drive was essentially brand new in that only a few dozen gigabytes had been previously written to it. Both my hard drive inspection software (HD Sentinel) and Samsung Magician reported that the drive is in perfect condition. I used it as a boot drive in an old Dell E6430 laptop, and the boot time decreased from about 90 seconds to under 30 seconds. Programs and browsers of course open much faster as well, so I'm very pleased. Cloning the old hard drive with Windows OS to the SSD was a breeze with Samsung's data migration software as well.

I have purchased over 100 of these Geek Squad Samsung SSD’s for my business and everyone work great. I figured I would get a bad one here and there but never have I had one not work or later not work. I would rather have this open box Samsung then other brands that have died on me throughout the years I do have a complaint, but it has to do with shipping. If you buy more than 1, each one will come in a fairly large box and sometimes I buy over 20. It’s a huge mess and fill up my recycle bin if I don’t break down each box. BestBuy can easily fit 20 in 1 box and save me the time to break down all the boxes. Its sounds easy but trust me it takes time. Plus, it's better for the environment. Overall, I will continue to buy these SSD's and I appreciate the cost saving BestBuy offers.

Samsung SSD how can you go wrong? PC boots up in under 15 seconds

I originally was using a hdd and I game and stream. I got this to help speed up my boot time and was really impressed with how fast it works. My pc boots up in less than 20 seconds and no more sitting and waiting for everything to load once it boots. I used a cloning program to clone my hdd to the ssd which literally took 15 mins instead of the dreaded hours reinstalling everything.

I don't usually buy refurbished things and especially not electronics but figured I would give an SSD the first try. The drive seems to work like new and didn't have any problems. Bench tests I ran seem to be about equal to the new 860 EVO drive I had bought just a few weeks ago. So ya, good drive for great price!

Great performance, quiet, super fast - exceeded expectations.

I have purchased several SSD and NVME refurbished from Best Buy. Only one had more than 500gb written to it, To save a few bucks I highly recommend buying a refurb from Best Buy. Purchased around 8-9 and not a single issue.

The product was like new. It worked great to upgrade my old computer. It improved my computer. If you are looking to get a new computer, you should consider added a SSD instead. My old computer is like new. It only cost me $50. This Samsung SSD is considered the best. I would agree.

Great performance and value. My boot time to Windows 10 Pro is 18 seconds versus 35 seconds using my original 7200RPM Western Digital. My apps open up faster and overall everything is snappier.

Though it was a different box, a plain cardboard box, but inside it looks brand new and works instantly, so could be worth a savings if your using it on a computer that's a backup rather than main one or for a cheap laptop just to get by.

I bought this 250GB model after getting the 500GB variant recertified drive from Best Buy. I ran tests on it before shelving it for the next project; SMART data shows very low hours powered on and absolutely no faults detected, and benchmarking it on the test bed's SATA 3Gb/S interface shows transfer rates 90% of the interface's capability. The 500GB is installed in a desktop with 6 Gb/S SATA interface and it is fast and bulletproof reliable so far. I suspect Best Buy is getting these after customers have a bad experience with cloning attempts. I load the OS fresh (Linux Mint for me; I don't need Windows anymore) and don't have any problems. They work like new with the assurance they made it past infant mortality.

This turned out to be a wonderful replacement for my hard disk drive, and games load up much snappier and there are much less hiccups!

Its wayy faster than my old HDD and was easier to install than my original drive because of the size.

Its a Samsung Evo SSD. The Clydesdale of SSD's. The industry standard in SSD's. You will NOT be disappointed. Seriously. Don't waste your money on anything less. These are WORTH the extra $5.00 or $15.00. I build, repair and upgrade computers for a living. I have purchased many many many of these SSD's because they are the fastest and most assuredly the most reliable. Crème de la Crème. Always go Samsung or go home.

My Mid-2012 MacBook Pro needed an upgrade in both ram and hard drive. This ssd was a great value as I didn’t want to spend too much on an aging computer but I also wanted something from a reputable brand. In the SSD space, Samsung it arguably the leader in the segment and the price of this SSD was on par, if not lower, at the time then less reputable brands. Overall, the ssd is working great and my MacBook Pro has a new lease on life.

Needed replacement drive for micro system with failed HDD. Wanted to change to SSD for weight, speed, reliability, etc. Checked numerous reviews and this model was one of the most highly rated. And buying this Geek Squad refurb also made it one of the least expensive. A win-win in my book!

So far so good, works great. Got the item like new, but the box is torn up.

This worked out great changing over to ssd drive. It really sped up my computer. The price was great also
