First of all this review is for a refurbished product, so the price was about $100 which made it easier to own this product, definitely not worth MSRP of $249 to $299 as was the case at launch. Only complaint is the camera bubble on strap is UGLY, either do away with it like the newer NEO version or place near watch face. Another thing is of course the battery life, if you don't mind charging every other day like me than it's fine but the charging cradle is a bit of a nuisance. I expected 1 day of battery life but actually got 2 days bc i have low usage. Heard the Tizen update might actuallly improve it though. Also a bit heavy/bulky but hopefully that is improved on newest version. The good parts are answering phone from watch, making calls from watch and controlling the music player. Screen is super sharp and responsive touchscreen. Don't use much of the other features, but I do hope it last a while, at least 2 years would be my expectations before I move on to something else! Love it more than my Pebble and i didn't think i would actually say that. Hope this helps.

This watch is something that seems excessive at first glance. However, this watch is very ueseful and convenient. It elimnates 50% of the reaching for your phone. If you want to change songs on your music while excercising tap the skip button on your watch. If you want to take a quality picture without taking your phone off your hip, tap the watch and done. If you want to see the weather move your watch and youre there. If you want to track your steps it has a built in pedometer. There are also some nice apps for this watch that make it more useful. My only gripe is the camera sound, but it is what it is there. Just gets annoying when your at events that draw attention when you make the shutter sound. But it works both ways people would complain they didnt know it was snapping pictures if you couldnt hear the shutter. The option to turn on an off would be ideal. One could actually make the case this is close to necessary when you have Galaxy device. I heard the Gear 2 is even better. I don't doubt that.

This smart watch sends you notifications of texts, emails and phone calls. And it works really well. I can keep my Note 3 in my pocket and use the Gear to notify me of all three. Plus I can make and receive phone calls as well as send the call to my Jawbone. I can customize the watch face with Gear Manager. The pedometer works well and syncs to S Health. I can scan barcodes on foods using the camera for My Fitness Pal to track calories. Is the watch perfect? No. Does it do what its supposed to? Absolutely! Battery life has never been an issue. I could go two days but I charge it every night when I change my Note 3. If you've been on the fence and want to try the original Gear, do it. Especially while the price is below $100.

The samsung galaxy gear it has nice feature.. But when it comes to Communication.. The function is not that good. Talking to family and friends they know exactly that I'm using my gear and they feel irritated . Etheir I'm breaking up ..disappearing , or I got an alien voice that they can't understand what I'm talking about. They always tell me to switch and get my phone, they don't like me talking in the gear coz they know they will have a problem of understanding me coz of a sound like alien voice.

This is all it's cracked up to be! Great watch, stylish, attention getter. Has timer, stopwatch, and other apps. Very nice to simply look at your watch instead of your phone, replying to texts is a little bit of a hassle, but still okay. Major negative points for not having a calculator though. For the price I paid, it is well worth it.

Bought this refurb off ebay. Best Buy didn't include a charger :-( and wouldn't provide one for me. Went through 2 3rd party chargers to find one that actually worked. Now that it works, it serves the purpose that I bought it for - media controller. It is nice for meeting notifications and texts. Email works on the watch about 1/2 the time (haven't figured this one out). Overall, it is a decent-looking watch.

I'm sure the newer ones are better with more updated technology, but this does the trick to get your alerts without having to dig your phone out of your pocket

I surprised my son with this for a birthday present and I woke him up at midnight to give it to him because I knew that he has been wanting a Galaxy Gear since he got his Galaxy Note 3. Ir was worth it to see the look on his face. He loves it and it was so easy for him to set up. He shows it off to everyone. I don't know if I would have been able to purchase it without the great deal. Thanks Best Buy.

Serves my purposes, if only basic functions. Refurbished price makes it Gear 1 a sensible purchase. Gear 1 received in fully refurbished condition.

this watch is great it could have a more a little bit more features and more apps by otherwise it's actually comes in handy

Good: I can access my notification within a second. Perfect for a pprofessional fast paced work environment. Answer calls even send text through the watch. Hands down the best smart watch out. If you are thinking of getting a Galaxy gear or gear 2 stick with the Galaxy gear. Very similar functionality. Heart rate monitor is a novelty and I have not found myself situation that my watch needed to be completely waterproof. Bad: Lack of apps is ridiculous. There isn't even a stock ticker app! Cannot view pictures on the watch itself that you receive through messages. Svoice is underwhelming Overall : I began thinking this is a novelty but when I took it off I realized it's not. Now it'sa crucial part of my every day activity. I never use the speakerphone but at least I know I have an option for it. Best 100 spent on a watch easily!

Really good product for the price. Was afraid of battery life but apparently that issue has been fixed. I can go 2 days on a charge. WIsh they would make it so you can respont to email and text on the watch but I can live without that for now. Overall great price and product.

Watch is stylish and functional, easy to read texts and make phone calls

I got this for an excellent price, $99 on a Best Buy deal of the day. Great gadget. Wonderful for when you don't want to miss an important call or text. Battery lasts about a day. Photo option is fun. I'm glad I got it.

This watch is awesome. You can place just about any Android app on this little guy and most will work fine as long as they don't require an internet connection. Using Watch Styler you can create your own custom watch face, or you can download some AWESOME faces off of the internet. There are some very talented individuals making them. The list of apps created especially for this watch is lite, but with Samsung's focus on migrating these watches to their Tizen OS, there isn't much need for a large Android Galaxy Gear store. S-voice works well and it can be handy to make calls directly from your wrist using the built-in speaker and noise canceling microphones. Try it out.

I know this is old technology by now (various new versions are already available), but for the price this version 1.0 can't be beat. I'd buy it all over again in a heartbeat. The watch itself works flawlessly with my Samsung Galaxy S4. And it's a head-turner. People frequently ask me about it and want me to show it in action. I happily oblige.

good watch i can get phone calls from iphone but cant get notifications thats only the down side of it. other than that its a great watch

I like this watch even more after recent update to Tizen OS. Now it feels like it has a second life and a lot of brand new features.

So far it's still working and I can't tell it's not NEW except the original packaging and manual are missing.

The samsung galaxy gear smart watch is fantastic, it allows you to have an easy access to your phone without having to pick it up. Also, when you want to take a picture, or video, you can just use the watch to capture the HD images, and then send them to your phone. No more trying to get to fumble and get your phone and put it on camera mode, for that absolute picture moment, when you can just snap and shoot in one action from your wrist. That is the best.
