I have a large family room with an open kitchen and it doesn't effect the sound at quality at all. When just watching television I have the volume between 12 and 16 and movies between 20 and 24 for that theater sound. My previous soundbar I had to keep the volume at 50 plus and it still wasn't loud enough!!!
