Loving the sound of this Samsung and Harman/Kardon pairing on this soundbar. The sound is well balanced with the highs, mids, and the lows. Music sounds awesome. Vocals and instruments sounds so distinct. My home theater just got an upgrade coming from a small Sony HT-X9000F soundbar with Atmos. I also have a 3 channel Samsung HW-MS650 soundbar paired with SWA-W700/ZA sub. Both of those setups sounded great but this Q80R outperforms them in so many ways. I’ve never heard so much sound coming from one unit and being deflected everywhere before. I watched Hunter Killer and Aquaman on my Apple TV4K and it truly sounded just like I was in a theater watching it. This soundbar has 13 speakers that deliver the Dolby Atmos and DTS:X 5.1.2 channel surround sound experience. Two upward firing speakers and 2 side firing speakers and the rest are on the front of the soundbar. There’s a small LCD screen on the front that indicates volume levels and other sound adjustments. But, there is no indicator if Dolby Atmos is enabled or being used. It has four sound modes: STANDARD, SURROUND, GAME PRO and ADAPTIVE SOUND. The Adaptive Sound Mode supposedly analyzes the sound from what you are watching then optimizes the sound to bring out clear voices. I found that sometimes the volume becomes unsteady. For instance, the volume may go up or down when the commercial comes on then changes again when the show or what ever you are watching comes back on. I end up just using standard for music and surround for movies. You can adjust the sound levels for each of the channels (side, center, top, rear if you add the wireless rear speakers sold separately). I had to tone down the side and the top speakers because the vocals were being drowned out. The soundbar and the subwoofer bass levels can be set separately which I thought was a good thing. The wireless subwoofer lets you feel the intensity of the action and the rhythm of the music with the rich, clean and powerful bass of the 8” woofer. From thunderous explosions from a movie to the soothing lows of a bass guitar, it just sounds great and it sounds as if it was coming from a larger subwoofer. Speaking of larger subwoofer, I tried pairing the soundbar with another Samsung wireless subwoofer (SWA-W700/ZA) but I guess it doesn’t work. I guess it is not compatible. It has Bluetooth and Wifi for connecting your device wirelessly. It has two HDMI inputs, one HDMI output (ARC) with 4K passthrough. I like that it has two HDMI inputs because it lets me connect two of my devices with shorter HDMI cables because they are closer to the soundbar than my TV. It also has one optical input for older TVs or receivers without ARC (Audio Return Channel). I like that they separated the audio/video ports away from the power. It is less messy and easier to manage this way. My old soundbar cords were plugged in in the same area. I wish they didn’t use mesh on the top. Dust will accumulate and make it hard to wipe. Pros - Clean, clear sound - Dolby Atmos - 2 HDMI inputs Cons - Could use a little bit more vocals - Needs an indicator for when Dolby Atmos is active - Mesh top is a dust collector Outro This unit is a great alternative to the always overpriced Bose. I’m not a fan of Sonos so not even going there. This HW-Q80R with the help of Dolby Atmos let’s me have a room filled with sound without cluttering my space with speakers.

This thing g is awesome.... Full room filling surround. We replaced an old sony with all the different speakers.... So nice to have only two pieces to mess with and it sounds amazing.

We bought this sound bar to pair with our new Samsung Q90 TV. I spent a lot of time comparing Samsung with Bose (we had a Bose Lifestyle 48 that was great) before pulling the trigger on Samsung. After the install and Geek Squad left the bar quit working after about 2 hours of use. I had to turn it off and on again to getting it working. This has been a continuing issue since day one. After almost 30 days and as many calls to Best Buy and Geek Squad they are finally coming out to replace. Hopefully it is just a case of a defective unit. When the bar is working the sound is great. Fingers crossed.

I got this because reviews online and videos raved about the Q90r being the best Atmos setup. This is the same soundbar and I had wireless surround speakers. It was just lacking immersion. There was sound in the right places and it wasn't bad but the sound was very flat and didn't feel nearly as spatial as even my current setup. Definitely doesn't rise to meet the hype. If you are committed to a soundbar experience its pretty decent but do not be swayed by the Atmos marketing. Atmos is great technology but only worth it with dedicated ceiling speakers in my opinion.

This sound bar rocks it’s very loud and clear the price is little high but great Quality for the price and you can tell it’s heavy and built with quality love this sound bar

It really improved our ability to hear the words on some of our favorite tv programs. Without it, we missed half the words and weren't able to fully enjoy the program.

The sound bar is amazing! We were having trouble understanding all the dialogue. With the sound bar we no longer have to rewind to figure out what they said.

Highs, lows and bass sound fantastic at higher volumes but lacks the bass at normal (lower) volume. The surround sound effect can be adjusted due to you being able to control numerous speakers.

This unit sounds good but I cant really tell it has Atmos Sound. It might be my room but doesn't sound like it coming from all directions. With that said it still gets loud and sounds good.

This soundbar with sub-woofer makes all of my sci-fi movies and series even better, you become immersed into the sound and makes the visuals have more impact. Love it.

Easy to setup and easy to use! Clear sound and you can really feel the sub woofer. Do yourself a solid and treat yourself by getting this sound system.

Incredible sound from this sound bar. First one since upgrading the tv and moving from old school home theater system to a sound bar. Really like this product!

Sound was great. But I had connection issues. The picture didn’t match the sound. So I returned it and got a Sony to match my tv

My first review was not posted (below content is the same as original review). I recently purchased the Samsung Q80 HDTV and a Samsung Q80 Atmos soundbar. These two units independent of each other provide an awesome AV experience...But...When paired together, I have noticed far too many lip sync issues between the television and the soundbar output even when connected through the Arc port and after making adjustments to the Digital Output Audio Delay. Not sure if Samsung has a planned software update to correct this issue to ensure compatibility between the units but would prove beneficial. Again, independent of each other, these units are awesome! But when paired together, leaves me with a bag of mixed emotions given the lip sync/sound delay issues. Without a design fix, will need to return one of these Samsung devices. Two stars due to the lip sync issues...Five stars otherwise.

This soundbar is paired with a 75" Samsung QLED TV. It pairs well. I have not had any issues with connectivity and usage. Love this piece!!!

I was blown away when I first used this soundbar the quality is amazing in my basement along with the 75inch Samsung tv, my son loves it as well.

This System is Bad A** , Holly Crap this knocked some of my Pictures off the wall . That is fine with me . I Know i got a Great Product .

This item is way overpriced. I have a very old Bose accoustimass system with rca plugs that sounds just as good at less than half the cost of this.

Simple to set up, sounds amazing! Like I have a theater in my living room! Compared to the Bose system, and it blew it away. So glad I splurged a little.
