Customers are impressed with the Harman Kardon Soundbar System's sound quality, describing it as 'great' and loving it. The easy setup process and the quality of the bass are also highly praised. While some find the size a bit large, most agree that the overall quality makes up for it.

Bought the product open box in store (beware), put it in storage until I moved in February. Finally, I am able to unpack and get theater room up and running and was disappointed that this sound bar does not function properly. It will only stay connected to a device for about 5 minutes and switches back to TV Speakers. Samsung and Best buy have been helpful in trying to troubleshoot, but no solution. Have to ship back to Samsung but do not have original box and they only supply shipping label. Will update review after I get properly functioning unit.

Sound quality was muffled. Not very good on the highs heavy mid ed and distorted Low. Price point wasn't too bad but still too much I think for the quality.

I purchased this unit along with a Samsung Q80 R TV. Since day 1, the audio and video have been out of sync. After 4 months of a parade of technicians and multiple combinations of hookups, the problem partially exists. By that, I have to use one setting for TV(PCM) and another setting for the other functions such as blue ray. For the price I paid for this unit, it is ridiculous.

The ARC connection won't work with my Samsung Q80 tv. Samsung technical support is the worst technical support team that I have ever dealt with. After 2 hours on the telephone troubleshooting, they told me the sound bar was defective, but will not send me a box to mail it in. I was told that I would have to obtain a box and mail it in myself to their only repair center which is located in New York (I'm in California). No time estimate on how long it takes to be repaired and sent back.

The Samsung Harman Kardon HW-Q80R Series Soundbar is very impressive and gives the kind of sound quality you would expect from this brand. It is quite large, measuring approximately 48” long so you’ll want to make sure you have enough room for it.
Setup was extremely simple (except for the Wi-Fi connection which I will detail later) and the wireless subwoofer immediately connected to the soundbar on its own once both devices were powered on. I measured the power cables for the soundbar and subwoofer when I first opened the box and if I am remembering correctly, they were both 4 feet in length which was plenty long enough for my needs.
There are two HDMI input ports for external devices such as cable boxes, game consoles, etc. and one HDMI ARC output for connecting with your TV. There is also an optical audio input which provides an additional input option for digital audio and Bluetooth connectivity allows for wireless audio streaming which is a nice feature to have. I didn’t have any issues quickly and easily pairing my phone over Bluetooth.
I connected my Xbox One to the soundbar via HDMI and was blown away by the way I was immersed in the sound. I never would have believed you could get this type of surround sound from a soundbar alone if I had not experienced it myself. It should be noted that the “Adaptive Sound” really seems to work as the dialogue sounded much clearer than I’m used to.
The only issues I had was when I tried to connect the soundbar to my home Wi-Fi. I followed the instructions and installed the SmartThings app on my phone and then setup a Samsung account. Then when I tried adding the soundbar in the app, it would open up a web browser on my phone and say that it was having issues connecting to my Samsung account and to try using the Samsung browser instead. As a result, I installed the Samsung browser app and set it as the default browser for my phone then tried adding the soundbar to my SmartThings app again. Now, it seems to begin the process but fails at 1% and I haven’t been able to get it to work. I tried calling Samsung support over the weekend and they said I would have to speak with a different department that deals with the SmartThings app but that they weren’t open on the weekends. I haven’t tried contacting the SmartThings support department since then and really don’t care all that much about the Wi-Fi connection anyways since based on my research, it only really lets you update the firmware wirelessly and gives you the ability to use a limited number of paid music streaming services which I don’t plan on using anyways. At this point, this is not a big concern of mine and the issues I am experiencing are likely specific only to me and my phone / Wi-Fi connection.
Overall, the Samsung Harman Kardon HW-Q80R Series Soundbar is an incredible soundbar and I highly recommend it!

This sound bar is just what we needed! Our living room tv has rear speakers so depending on what we are watching or what else is running (dishwasher, exhaust fan etc.) we have to really crank up the volume. This can be very bothersome if someone is in the bedroom on the other side of the wall. We had another sound system but unless you were watching a dvd it was useless as it would not seem to work right with cable, Netflix or anything else on a smart tv. This soundbar has changed that! We were not able to use the included HDMI cable and had to use an optical cable instead. It took longer to unpack than it did to set up!! The subwoofer is wireless so no worries about having yet another wire to hide. It has several sound settings that are easily changed on the included remote. The fact that you have the option of having it turn on automatically with the tv or only when you want it is great. With the sound projecting forward and also upward it is so much easier to hear especially in an open floor plan where there is noise from other things. The remote is streamlined and easy to use. The Bluetooth feature is easy to setup as well so you can use your phone or other device to play music. It also has controls discreetly placed on it should you ever have to use them and the display panel blacks out to make it blend into the speaker. Also included is the hardware and instructions to mount it if you desire. It is a little on the large side so that was a good feature to include but luckily it fits on top of our entertainment center. Seems to be well constructed so I think it will last for years to come!

I bought this sound bar with my Q90 Samsung TV. The sound was off from the TV video which is a known problem with this sound bar. Returned after 2 days trying to fix it. For what this sound bar costs, shouldn’t be having these issues. Bought instead a Sonos and love it!

My Apartment Is Surrounded With Samsung

Note:my husband did all the set-up and testing. First things first, we have multiple Samsung products in our apartment, from cell phones to this new item, HW-Q80R Series Soundbar. After I read through the instruction manual and made sure all the components were available, the connection process was easy as 1,2,3. I used SmartThings app on my phone to get the the soundbar connected to my home wifi, and connected all the HDMI cables to the proper ports. If you have an I-phone, I'm not sure what app to use for connecting the soundboard to your network. The sound is amazing, as it is a full surround sound speaker system. Watched a couple episodes of Brooklyn 99, and clicked over to youtube for some Iron Maiden videos. Extremely happy with this product, not sure how my downstairs neighbors feel. No complaints yet!

This soundbar has far surpassed my expectations for what a soundbar can and should sound like!!! It isn't small though by any means so be prepared for that when you set it up if you don't go check it out in the store first.
Setup was very easy and it was packed very well which was a good thing because it got beat up in shipping when FedEx delivered it. Kudos to Samsung though for making sure it was packaged well enough not to get damaged in shipping. Everything needed to get it hooked up was included in the box along with mounting brackets to mount on the wall underneath your TV or above if you prefer.
The highs are very clear and it definitely provides a great surround sound experience and the bass was surprisingly deep and is very rich. This guy also connects via WiFi so you can see it in the Samsung Connected Home App and it also has Bluetooth connectivity to connect your phone or tablet to stream music directly to it.
Overall my family and I have been very impressed with this soundbar and my kids can't get enough of watching movies now with this soundbar hooked up.

I’m so glad to see that you were able to easily set up this Soundbar and are enjoying the audio performance. This soundbar is designed to sweep you up in the exhilaration of multidimensional cinematic audio, masterfully delivered from a 5.1.2 channel system with 13 built-in speakers. Upward and side-firing speakers immerse you in pure, realistic sound—around and above you—as you’re transported right to the center of the action.

I'm going to start by saying I did a ton of research on top of the line sound bars before I bought this unit and now have had it in my home for over 2 months now. Let me just say that this system has just blown me away and I feel very confident that out of the choices I had I made the right one. Get this thing now while it's on sale for a grand like I did. You can get the rear speakers for $150 on sale. You then have a full blown 7.1.2 system with flat out awesome cinematic sound that handles Doldy Atmos and DTS-X sound beautifully for $1150. That isn't bad when you consider Sony's model up there on sale for $1,300 that has no top firing or side firing speakers like this one does and it doesn't do DTS-X sound. The more expensive Sony doesn't even have a rear speaker option. Not to mention the Samsung Hardon/Kardon Q80R blows the Sony away sound wise. Like it does the LG, the Bose, Sonos....nothing at or near this price range can hold a candle to the Q80R. I know because I tried them all.Be it streaming music or watching movies this thing is totally amazing. It will blow you away and make your living room sound like a movie theater. The top and side firing speakers within the bar really throw the sound around and above you like no other sound bar system can do. It truly amazes! Trust me I have done the work for you. GO GET THIS THING!!! My only regret is I didn't get the 77inch TV over the 65inch because this may be too much sound for my 65inch screen. lol
