    Almost-dead-out-of-box Left Surround Speaker

    To be honest, I like the sound quality of this system and the ease of setup. However, the one I got was really disappointing because of its almost-dead-out-of-box left surround Speaker. Right after picking it up from the store, I only tested the soundbar and subwoofer by streaming some music through Bluetooth. On the second day I hooked it up with my TV and streamed audio through HDMI ARC. When I started to play a movie with multi-channel audio, some noticeable electrical noise immediately came out of the left surround speaker. The louder the audio was, more noticeable the noise became. I tried to move it around the room and put all possible sources of interference away from the speaker, but nothing really worked. I guess I was unlucky enough to pick up a problematic unit and spent quite some effort to carry something that is as heavy as 65 pounds and would have to be exchanged from the garage to the third floor. Samsung really needs to have better quality control on their flagship soundbar system. Now I am wondering other than putting all the four parts back into the box and running back to Best Buy, if there is any way I can get the dead-out-of-box surround speaker replaced, because packaging and moving this heavy system would really be a hassle. Would I recommend this product to friends? Given the sound quality, yes. But I would also recommend them to try the unit they buy before leaving the shop.

    Very poor product for a "high end" soundbar

    Purchased to use with our top of the line LG OLED TV. We have a dedicated surround system for use with our 4K DVD but wish to use mainly for general cable shows and bluetooth with the ipod for music. Basically the sound bar draws much less power for everyday use and we use audio system for movies. Disappointed that it does not have the selection of modes like the predecessor "K" model. Tried everything to get sound out of the rear speakers but it was only at a whisper level. When muted or the sound was turned down low, random bursts of the audio would come through very loud for a split second. After reading other reviews where people had similar issues, we returned it for a refund. Poor design, issues with the Dolby decoding, very limited features for a sound bar of this price range. If I could give it a 0 rating, I would.

    Okay so I am not a home theater expert but this sound bar sounds good. Its like your in a movie theater. I first tried a cheap sound bar with no sub and that was a mistake. I wanted to be like wow this sounds good, and thats what I got. The sub is not super powerful but still good.

    If you can afford it, then this is a must buy for your TV entertainment. I had a reciever with surround sound system before I bought this and I will not go back. The sound coming out us crisp and clear. Remarkable surround sound.

    We were looking to upgrade our surround and this fit our needs. We did not have the budget or time to re-wire the house for a hard-wired setup and this unit looked like it would fit our needs. Setup was pretty easy and the sound has been impressive. I highly recommend it!

    The sub and main sound bar are great and provide good sound. The side speakers are really lacking and half the time don’t provide any sound even in Dolby Atoms use or 5.1

    We were looking for surround sound and ended up listening to quite a few different systems in the store. This one, blew us away. We got it home and love it even more. If you want an exceptional system, this is it.

    This soundbar is easy to get rolling and great sound is on the way. It takes a little experimentation with various speaker loudness, front to rear, but you will accomplish clear, crisp sound, and perfect bass. Maybe a little pricey, but I feel it is worth the $$.

    I've tried several different sounders including the Samsung K-950, Sony HFZ9F, Sony HT-ST5000 and the LG SK10Y. Unfortunately, when I bought an open box of the Samsung HW-N950 the rear left speaker was DOA. I returned it for a brand new unit and to my disappointment the rear left channel would not connect to the soundbar. I tried everything from the new firmware to Samsung support (awful in my option) with no luck. Finally, I returned the unit and got another brand new HW-N950. Third time is a charm I guess as all system are go. My experience with the soundbar ha been good. The front soundstage is wide and the Atmos effects are great. The subwoofer is average; I would say if you don't need the rear speakers the Sony HT-ST5000 has better bass and a better soundstage. Movies are great and music is average. Overall, 3 stars out of 5.

    This sounds system is great. It is totally amazing. The surround sound is amazing. I feel like we are at the movies. I would recommend this to any one who enjoys sounds. We only have it turned up to 18 and it make you feel like you are sitting in a move theater.

    I was really excited about the promise of this product. On paper, it looked like a great deal for a Dolby Atmos system. Unfortunately, the passthrough inputs were either broken or incompatible with a Vizio TV. The TV detected the sound bar but the sound bar would not send a video or audio signal to the TV. Additionally, when I tried using the ARC function, the audio from the sound bar cut in and out every few seconds. I returned it the same day after speaking with a Samsung rep who didn’t understand how their own product worked and provided suggestions that made no sense. Would have been nice to learn if there was a simple fix or incompatibility issue with Vizio TVs, but the Samsung person was not educated on the product. Thankfully, Best Buy allows for returns. I exchanged this for the Sony HT-ST5000 system, which worked well out of the box.

    Main Soundbar Okay, Rear Spkrs NOT Working,

    Samsung Customer Service VERY POOR !!! Speakers sent to Samsung Repair, and returned rear speakers still not working; system apparently was Not tested. Samsung CS prentended to call us back from "The President's Office" but was the same person from previous CS many, many unsatisfactory calls. Finally gave up on having rear wireless speakers working, and sacrificed $1,200 for complete, working system. Now using only main soundbar. On purchase of new washer and refrigerator 3 months later, we deliberately avoided buying Samsung.

    Have LG Sj9 Atmos sound bar which is 5.1.2 and sounds great, but this Samsung 7.1.4 is the best sound system yet for Atmos & DTS-X

    Installed the systems easily and the sound quality is amazing. Product connected easily through the blue tooth setting on my TV. Would have preferred a direct HDMI connection, but I was out of ports.

    Fairly easy to setup with some help from online forums. The sound quality is awesome. New movies make you feel like you’re in the theater! Just don’t forget to turn up the rear volume.

    There's nothing 'wrong' with this system, but I'm not hearing the WOW factor that is worth the $1500. It does beat the LG sk9y I originally purchased with my LG OLED C8, but I thought that was overpriced too. At the end of the day, I hear friend's < $500 sound bars/rear speakers that sound as good. Unless you need the ATMOS, it's an expensive indulgence.

      Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-K950 Soundbar with Dolby Atmos Technology. I am sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with its sound performance.

      The Subwoofer is responsible for low frequency sounds. Therefore, you will not actually hear audio such as speaking or sound effects coming from the subwoofer, only deep bass and low frequency vibrations.

      The best way to determine if the Subwoofer is working is to play a movie with plenty of explosions and then place your hand on the subwoofer. You will feel vibrations as the subwoofer receives and transmits the incoming audio from the content you are playing.

      You can try the following steps to increase the Subwoofer volume level:
      1.Press the S/W level button on the Sound bar remote. SW 00 will appear on the front display of the Sound bar.
      2.Press the + button above the S/W level button on the Sound bar remote to increase the S/W volume. It can be set from SW+01 to SW+06, the higher the number, the louder the bass.
      3.Press the S/W - button to decrease the S/W volume.
      4.Play some music or an action-packed movie to test.
