      Thank you for purchasing our top-of-the-line Samsung 11.1.4ch HW-Q990B Soundbar with an industry first Wireless Dolby Atmos and DTS:X bringing you 3D true surround sound.

      To set up and use Samsung's Auto EQ feature which is exclusive to the HW-Q990B, follow these instructions.

      • Subwoofer should be placed with a minimum of 3” (8 cm) clearance from each side to the nearest boundary.
      • You must keep the room as quiet as possible while operating the Auto EQ tuning.
      • Do not use any buttons until the Auto EQ tuning is complete.
      • Auto EQ tuning takes about 2 minutes.
      • During Auto EQ tuning, there is no sound from the Soundbar’s main unit and rear speakers.

      1. Press the (Sound Control) button until Auto EQ is selected.
      2. Press the Up/Down buttons to select Tuning, and then press the button.
      3. Tuning will start, and the progress appears in percentage.
      ‒ To cancel tuning, press the Up, Down, Left, Right or button, and then press the button to confirm.
      ‒ If the tuning is failed, LED blinks in red.
      ‒ If the tuning is successful, LED blinks in blue.

      This will use the microphone (it only listens for frequencies) mounted in the subwoofer to detect and correct for sound caused by the room dimensions.

    I have a new TV and paid a lot for it and I bought the matching sound bar to have no issue , both under three months old and they loose connection all the time . So much for Q-Symphony and much less Dolby Atmos .

    Its very loud and compatible. I like the surround fearure. The atmos effect is very minimal. Overall, it needs more base. Dont buy this at full price. Id only buy it if it was on sale. The build build quality is great though.

      You can manually optimize your audio experience by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (which looks like a gear), you can set the audio function such as Auto EQ, Spacefit sound, AVA, Voice Enhance mode, Night mode, Sync, Surround speaker mode, Virtual. The desired item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons.

      When you press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. (Make sure the Sound mode is set to “Standard”.)

      By pressing the TONE CONTROL button, you can adjust the volume of the treble or bass sound. The desired item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons between -6 to +6.

      By pressing the CH LEVEL button, you can adjust the volume of each speaker such as Center level, Side level, Wide level, Front Top-level, Rear level, Rear top level, and Rear side level. For your Surround Speakers, select Rear level, Rear top level, or Rear side level, and then use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range. This will improve your overall Dolby Atmos experience as it you can increase the volume of the Atmos channels above the rest.

    Why? Why me? Honestly I am not gonna lie, this is hands down the best sounding sound bar period end of story!! But I have random speaker cut outs, it's either the sub woofer or the bar itself. I have repositioned both of them, set all settings to default and even reset the sound bar to factory defaults. The random disconnects still occur! I've scoured the internet, Samsung forums, Reddit, etc, no resolution. The random speaker cut out kills the whole experience! The only thing I notice that's different is right around where the HDMI connects to the sound bar is pretty warm. Like, really warm but not hot? Could it be mine was defective? I don't know. After trying so many different soundbars and being mostly disappointed with them (also returning them to Best Buy) I finally found what I was looking for and this issue pops up! Why? Why me?!

    Subwoofer surround speaker disconnects

    After 2 weeks the subwoofer and left surround speaker disconnected. After multiple attempts to reconnect…spent $129 for a Geek Squad tech to visit my home to diagnose the problem. The tech said there was an issue with the soundbar that he was unable to fix and that I could return for a refund. Replacement was not an option as the soundbar was no longer in stock at Best Buy. Very disappointed with both Samsung and Best Buy.

    the bass did not seem to be loud and it cut out on twice. once is when i muted it and then unmuted it did not go back to the volume level i was at. it did not perform like all the reading said it would.

      There are a few tips you can try to optimize your soundbar.

      To improve your audio experience, you may want to try the built in Auto EQ feature, exclusive to the Q990B Soundbar this year. Samsung’s Auto EQ Technology uses a microphone mounted in the subwoofer to detect and correct low-frequency response peaks caused by the room dimensions and the subwoofer location. The result will be a more neutral overall low-frequency response.

      Press the SOUND CONTROL button (looks like a gear) to access the setting items such as Auto EQ, Spacefit sound, AVA, Voice enhance mode, Night mode, Sync, Surround speaker mode, Virtual. The desired item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons.

      Alternatively, you can press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons.

    I have no idea why people like this product so much. The sound is clear but its not full. The bass is completely lacking. The lower frequencies are so weak that I thought something was wrong with my hearing. If you want something that feels “cinematic” then go with the JBL 1300X. You will NOT be disappointed in the boomy bass that product carries. Unfortunately Best Buy doesnt carry it but you can try elsewhere. Its worth it. I promise.Also, the set up was cumbersome. Dont waste your time or money.

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding the audio quality of the HW-Q990B Soundbar. I am sorry to see that you are not fully satisfied with your purchase.

      To be able to set up your Soundbar to take full advantage of the 11.1.4 channel system, download the SmartThings app. This will allow you to control your Soundbar's volume, inputs adjust the channels, and even fine-tune the 7-band EQ.

      To be able to adjust the bass, use either the SmartThings app or push up the WOOFER button on the Soundbar remote. You can also press TONE CONTROL which will allow you to adjust the TREBLE or BASS levels between -6/+6.

      Press the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then select the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, GAME, or ADAPTIVE SOUND. If you are wanting a full cinematic experience, use SURROUND or ADAPTIVE Sound Modes as these will allow for your content to send the proper channels to the surrounds.

      Additionally, make sure that you are using either Bitstream, Auto or Pass-Through for your Digital Audio Modes on your TV. If you are using PCM this will reduce your overall experience because it will not properly send the audio to all of the correct channels.
