Rear speaker had manufactured issue

Rear speaker (both peft and right) were firing in same direction. The rear speakers should be firing sound in 3 directions forward, upward and outward for surround effect, but rear left speaker had speker placement firing inward. So regardless of speaker placemt it will send sound in same droedtion.

Initially, I was debating between this and the complete Sonos Arc system since I didn't like the sound profile of the Sony HT-A7000. Although, I was reluctant to go with the 990b due to the apparent quality control issues, I decided to go for this flagship Samsung due to the fact that I primarily watch films on 4K(blu-ray) from my collection. Not all films are mastered in Dolby Atmos, 'Gladiator' (2000) being an example as the disc is mastered with a DTS:X codec. Watching the last scene of 'Gladiator' was immersive as I felt crowd noises coming from the rear speaker. I felt like I was in antiquity, standing there with Maximus in the Colosseum. Dolby Atmos is excellent as well when I watched 'No Time to Die.' Billie Ellish's vocals coming through during the credit sequences gave me chills and the scene following it, with Bond in the Astin Martin being shot at, sounded just like it did in the theater. I can't speak to older films mastered with DTS-HD, Dolby Digital, or Mono LPCM but I imagine it sounds good with the Soundbar set to Adaptive mode. If you primarily watch movies, especially on physical media, I would highly recommend this bar since Sonos doesn't support some of the DTS formats such as DTS:X. This bar and sub has plenty of low-end and watching 'The Fellowship of the Ring' and 'Sicario', I found myself lowering the bass on the equalizer below zero since the whole room was rumbling. So far, I have not had any issues with rear speakers disconnecting. But I am not too concerned if issues were to arise, since I am a TotalTech member.

Hello ninjacory,
Thank you for purchasing the new HW-Q990B Soundbar and taking the time to leave us such a detailed review about your experiences with the soundbar.
I am very glad to see that it has exceeded your expectations, especially when playing Atmos content with the soundbar.
You can fine-tune your soundbar even more using SpaceFit Sound+ and Auto EQ.
Spacefit Sound+ analyzes the room that the soundbar is in and then optimizes it based on the shape and size. The HW-Q990B soundbar can be used with all sound modes while using Spacefit Sound+.
To enable this function, turn on the Spacefit sound mode with the remote control of the Soundbar. Press SOUND CONTROL, then you will see “Spacefit sound Off” - press the UP button to turn it ON.
Samsung’s Auto EQ Technology (exclusive to the HW-Q990B) uses a microphone mounted in the subwoofer to detect and correct low-frequency response peaks caused by the room dimensions and the subwoofer location. The result will be a more neutral overall low-frequency response.
Should you ever have questions or need help, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for Soundbars), available 8 AM – 12 AM EST, 7 days a week.
For additional support resources such as downloading a full manual, visit us on the Samsung website and click on the ‘Support’ link in the upper right corner of the homepage.

Bought this set on sale for $1200 from regular price of $1900. It was a no brainer. Best decision I've ever made!
Initially unpacking the box, it looks a little intimating but it was super easy to set up. Samsung hit this out of the park! It easily integrate into Samsung SmartThings app and you can control it from there as well if you don't have its remote handy.
This soundbar absolutely rocks!!! Before purchasing this, I was reading all the bad reviews and I was a little skeptical but I went with it anyway and it did not disappoint! I don't know what problems people were saying with bad sound quality, intermittent and rear speakers cutting out and so on. I've had this set up for a month now and I've had ZERO problems! Highly recommend this set up. I've had 2 previous soundbars before and I cut cost and was never happy with them but just learn to live with it. I'm so glad I spent a little extra and got this.

This soundbar is great. Had no problem setting up the rear speakers and they paired up perfectly with no problems so far after a few months of use. The sound is amazing and the bass is insane. We had to turn it down so it doesnt shake the room. It is expensive but if you are willing to spend the money it is worth it. Personally it is a very good looking product as well. It is pretty large so any less than a 65 inch tv it will be longer.

I upgraded from a nearly 10 year old Vizio soundbar. This thing is LOUD. I don't have to increase the volume any higher than 15, even that is kind of pushing it. I left the channel level of the subwoofer at 0 and the room still shakes. The bass rumble is oh so satisfying, like being in an actual movie theater. Dolby Atmos is amazing. I can't believe I went this long without experiencing it. Before I bought this, I did read online about the disconnecting issues that are plaguing some units, but after a few weeks with it, I have yet to run into any issues. I did purchase the extended warranty for peace of mind. I plan on having this for many years. As a heads up, you may want to buy longer power cables for the rear speakers as they are pretty short. I have mine sitting on speaker stands.

I hemmed and hawed whether to drop a not small (but not huge) amount of money on this sound bar, but the reviews on Youtube were too good to ignore. I use it with a projector and it sounds amazing and all the speakers self-connect with no problems encountered in my living room. Really puts you in the middle of the Dolby Atmos action with great bass as well. Very compact and unobtrusive as well compared to the wired equivalent. I upgraded to this from a high end 2.0 set up-NO COMPARRISON!

I have owned the soundbar a little over a month now and so far it's been outstanding. I didn't know i was looking for this much soundbar when i started researching a couple months ago. I was looking at the Q80 which i figures would go well with my Qn85 TV. Then i stumbled on to this and the Q93 soundbar. Financing with my best buy card made it a no brainer at $1,200.00
The pros are many: perfect surround sound for gaming and movies. Low rumbling bass (had to rearrange some items in the room that were rattling). Great mid and high sound. No distortion at high volume. No tinny sound like a lot of sound bars have. Easy installation and set up.
The con isn't really even a con in my opinion. It's made for surround sound so I'd say it's not the best for just listening to music. It takes a minute to get used to music in the back speakers. It's not overwhelming at all, just different.
It took a minute to get the wife on board with the expense but she quickly changed her tune after hearing the difference between this soundbar and the old 3.1 channel we had.
** there have been reviews of the back speakers cutting out. I have not experienced that as of yet **

Wow. Just wow is the first paragraph of my review for the Samsung Q990B 11.1.4 Dolby Atmos/DTS X soundbar surround sound system. Literally that sentence sums up the specs. It's an 11.1.4 surround sound system with a soundbar for the front channels and it has an included LFE subwoofer and 4 height channels. 2 in the rear surrounds (which are WIRELESS btw) and 2 in the bar. Now normally one would think that's a great setup. But there's a special sauce in this Samsung soundbar. The satellites and the bar each have a side firing surround driver integrated into the channel distribution. Because of this immersion-adding supplemental bonus, the dimensionality of surround sound tracks in movies and gaming both just becomes next level. It is IMMERSIVE. It's an experience. It's next-gen surround sound. Bravo Samsung. Coming from a 5.1.4 setup I wasn't expecting THIS BIG OF A DIFFERENCE. I can only imagine what it would feel like to folks coming from TV speakers or a single channel soundbar setup. #SamsungSoundbarInsiders

This is definitely a nice buy. My setup is all Samsung. I'm running the QSymphony. I'm hearing things I didn't hear on my old system. The only issue is the bass when it comes to moves and low volume. This system needs the 10" woofer for sure. The 8" is ok when the movie calls for bass, but could definitely be better. The volume is crazy insane. I took it to 25. That's all my ears could take.
Samsung next generation 10" sub please. Also more adjustment controls on the App.

Great for larger living rooms, amazing bass! Not too over powering & very crisp. You should connect this via e-arc to get the best sound quality and make sure to control settings through the app. Also noticed a difference when using the auto EQ setting in the app.
You really have to spend some time with the app to find all the settings and get used to certain channel volumes. I also have very high ceilings so the atmos effect is pretty vague but the rear speakers make themselves heard. This system has no issues filling up the whole room. It really gets LOUD.

Super easy to take out of the box and hook up. The sub and satellite speakers had no issue connecting to the sound bar and the TV automatically switched over to the Q-Symphony. The surround sound, sounds great with dolby atmos content, even in videogames the sound tracks sound like they have so much more depth to them. The only thing i dont like about this set up is that the power cords for the satellite speakers seem really short. If you’re buying this sound bar make either buy extension cords or of you’re lucky make sure your outlets are no farther than three feet away from where you’re planning on putting your speakes.

I was blown away at how great this sounds. We paired this with a QN85B 85" TV. I actually had to turn it down a bit cause it was TOO LOUD. I don't think I have ever said that before. It sounds fantastic throughout movies, shows, and games. I would highly recommend, especially for cost to value. We picked this up on sale for $1200. I have no complaints other then the little screen that comes on it is nearly impossible to read.
We did also look at component systems, and compared quite a few. For what I would have wanted to go with, it would have been $5000 plus. This system sounds amazing for the price we paid. I would make the same choice if I had to do this again.

I ended up returning this Samsung set for a few reasons. The bar itself sounded very good but its size is like having a steel I-beam hanging on your wall. Simply too massive for a smooth decor blend. Second, the sub was huge, and when I fired up the whole set, I didn't even know the sub was on. same for the remote speakers. One of the remote speakers wouldn't connect, so that was the last straw.
Ended up returning and spending a bit more for a Sonos Beam + Sub+ Era100's. It's an amazing upgrade from the Samsung.

Very well made product. I upgraded my systems from Bose lifestyle system to this. I also had the JBL Bar 9.2.1 used in the same encironment. While JbL was great and simple set up, Samsung 990B with the rear speakers make the sound more surround and more full! I am surprised! The availability of 2 HDMI 4K passthrough is also very helpful to get true atmos since my TV do not have eArc. I also mounted my rear speakers with Mounting Dream hardware so cables are not exposed. Lastly, the smart thing app allows seamless set up, EQ tuning, adjustments of tone. I dont have any drop out issues of any sort. Overall, Superhappy with the set up!

After getting a smaller sound bar with only a subwoofer, I realized that I needed a bigger system as I needed to fill a large space with sound. I should have been more specific purchasing the smaller sound bar which was really meant for a small living room area to improve the sound, but not necessarily provide more volume. However, this unit was exactly what I needed! The clarity of the sound and the surround sound speakers along with a powerful subwoofer combined for a great Super Bowl experience! Tested it out with Top Gun Maverick and was blown away. Bang for your buck, I was very pleased.
