Took my chances and was completely disappointed. The sound is amazing when you can get it to work properly. Constant dropped connections with the speakers cutting out and then coming right back on. Tried to ignore it because it sounded so good but after 15 minutes I couldn’t stand the speakers continually cutting out. Returned it to the store and the employee said to me,”let me guess, the speakers keep cutting out”. If you’re a gambler give it a try. You might get lucky and have it work.

Disappointed with Samsung HW 990B system.

It sounds good on some movies. It still isn't giving me the same surround effects as some systems I've heard in stores. The reviews said it had great surround sound because of the up firing speakers. I'm really not seeing that. When I'm watching regular TV I can barely turn up the volume and the surround don't work. So far I'm disappointed. I spent a lot of money on this system and I feel it wasn't worth it.

You can manually optimize your audio experience by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (which looks like a gear), you can set the audio function such as Auto EQ, Spacefit sound, AVA, Voice Enhance mode.
Press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons.
When you press the TONE CONTROL button, you can adjust the volume of the treble or bass sound. The desired item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons. This function is enabled in Sound mode excluding in Standard mode.
Additionally by pressing the CH LEVEL button, you can adjust the volume of each speaker such as Center level, Side level, Wide level, Front Top level, Rear level, Rear top level, and Rear side level.
For your Surround Speakers, select Rear level, Rear top level, or Rear side level, and then use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.
For the top firing speakers, these are specifically for Dolby Atmos content. The content you are watching will need Atmos enabled for these to work.
Also, to take full advantage of every channel availalbe, use Surround or Adaptive Sound modes when watching TVs or movies.
We recommend using a HDMI cable connecting the eARC port of the Soundbar to the eARC/TV ARC port of the TV. This will offer you the best audio and user experience available.
If you are using a Samsung TV, then you will navigate to Settings, and then select Sound. Select Expert Settings, and then select Digital Output Audio Format. Next, choose your desired audio format.
You will not want to use PCM as this will reduce your overall audio quality and limit the amount of channels the TV can send audio to 2.0 in total. So far so good.

Was a little worried at first due to complaints of dropped connections. I am writing this review on day 3. will update this review in the future. If you buy this definitely use the app it has way more customization options than what can be done with the remote, such as sound tuning and changing the satellites from rear to front channels, which is weird that out of the box mine was set to front channels. Only minor issue im having is getting this thing to work in homekit, the speaker shows up there but it is grayed out as in unusable in homekit, it airplays but that is something different.
