I have had this for about a year now, still works well. It takes me a long time to buy something because I like to research a lot and I'm glad I chose this laptop. Pros: - able to use as tablet if needed - enjoy the touchscreen - hardly any problems arise - screen is very clear - types well and has a backlit keyboard - handles a lot of programs at once very well - battery life is still not bad Cons: - hard to find screen protectors, keyboards for this laptop - sound only comes out from one side sometimes - the pen isn't as nice compared to an apple ipad because it is slower and writes not as cleanly - sound is low - camera is meh, but not a problem for me - less ports, but also not a problem for me

Love the display, the size, how long the battery lasts. No USB ports is a little odd, but I had one adapter already and bought a second one. Waiting for Samsung to come out with their multi port docking station so I can eliminate the little adapters. Other than that, very happy with my choice.

Awesome laptop!!! Plenty of processing power on both the CPU and RAM fronts. Love the nearly instant on capability thanks to the SSD. Turns on nearly as quickly as a tablet. As others have stated the finger print reader is a little hit/miss due to it's location on the side of the laptop. Seems to read my fingerprint about half the time, so I need to enter my Pin the other times. This seems to have been moved off the power switch to the keyboard and works much better there on newer models. 100% would buy this laptop again. Backlit keyboard makes it easy to use in low lighting. Be aware of the limited slots, so you may want to add a docking bar later on, to allow for adding additional monitors, plugging in your USB flash drives etc. Liked it so much got my wife a Samsung Galaxy Book Flex Alpha a few months later. Very similar laptop.

I purchased this laptop for school and I like it so far. I needed a touchscreen laptop and that's exactly what I got. Only thing that I find annoying is that it has no usb ports, just usbc and thunderbolt 3 connections. Overall great though!

Great screen, fast processor and I love the mousepad. Feels and functions as a high quality product. The only suggestion I would make is to include a full size USB 3 port. I have to carry a small adapter wherever I go.

As an avid and loyal Samsung user, going back to school seemed like a good idea with a Samsung Notebook Pro 9 laptop. The battery life is exceptional. It didnt run hot or slowly the entire 2 weeks I had it. The touch screen was receptive and the keys were so quiet. Why did I only have it 2 weeks, you ask? Well, the problem started a week after my purchase. While working on an online assignment, I was suddenly without internet. My router occassionally cuts in and out from the amount of devices connected to it from a low broadband, so it wasnt an issue the first time this occurred. The page "timed out" where my assignment was present, but not for long. Remember, always save between sections or backup in a Word doc if you're paranoid like me. So, I reset the router and attempted another time to connect to the internet. Not only did it not connect, the reception from the laptop to the wifi would not read there was any available, which was strange. I am fortunate enough to have a hotspot on my phone that I can use for free and always works (thanks, Tmobile!). I tested the reception and my Samsung laptop STILL did not read there was any networks available. I then called the Samsung help desk, which I've done before for assistance with my curved TV and my Samsung tablet...they informed me Microsoft has updates they push, where the laptop MUST be restarted in order to receive a network connection again. At first, this wasnt a big deal. I'd rather it be updated than outdated. A few days later while at school, connecting to the wifi was simple for everyone in my class but me. I had to restart my laptop 3 times that day, and twice the next day. Now, for a computer at this price point, I should NOT have to restart my device that many times to connect to the internet. Maybe I had a faulty version, but that simple fact was outrageous. I ended up being within range for an exchange. I got the 930 Lenovo Yoga which has been fantastic. With a slightly higher price point, the advantages were so drastic. I love my S8+, my curved TV, and my tablet but as for laptops, Samsung has not met their typical standard for their devices quite yet.

The Notebook 9 Pro boasts specifications that almost seem unreal at its price point. The high-end functionality promised extended beyond my expectation. Perhaps the terrible laptop I had before this is not a good comparison, but I’ve used desktops which are less efficient as this laptop. The ability to write on screen, sync it with my phone watch and galaxy buds has made this laptop beyond ideal for me. Samsung really built on a clean design that works well. This laptop may not be leading innovation, but it’s forcing any competitors to build better 2-1 laptops. Simply changing the design and putting in a faster processor with more storage space is not good not enough anymore.

This is a really nice laptop! Like other laptops now available on the market, you can use the Notebook 9 as a traditional laptop with a connected keyboard, or you can rotate the keyboard to the back of the display and use it as a tablet. This laptop-to-tablet-and-back approach isn’t all that unique in the marketplace anymore, but it worked seamlessly when executed. I am a stickler when it comes to the materials used on the outside surface of phones and laptops, primarily because I hate dropping things because the material is slippery and slips out of my hand. I mention that because the outside of this Notebook is especially slick, so much so that I have to take great care when handling it. One of the very first things I plan to do is pick up a case for added protection and better grip, or perhaps I’ll attach some sticky tape to the outside instead. I kid you not! In spite of this slippery issue, I really like this laptop. It has solid construction, the keyboard is responsive and backlit (a big plus in my book), the display is big and bright, and the performance is quite good. Built-in storage is a curious thing though. The Notebook 9 comes with a little more than 220gb, which seems substantially undersized for laptops in this price range. Further, close to 50gb was consumed by the time I got everything fully configured – leaving me with about 170gb of storage with which to work. I’m a heavy user of Microsoft’s OneDrive and Google’s Drive for long-term storage, so storage isn’t a problem for me. But I can see someone with tons of apps, photos, videos and more quickly depleting storage over time. Battery time seems solid. My battery icon right now reflects 71% battery remaining and indicates that this is good for over 8 hours. That’s great, and so much better than my Chromebook. [Caveat: I hope that this is correct since I found an odd occurrence with the battery icon]. After giving the unit a full charge (icon was showing 100%), it indicated initially that the battery was good for only 5 hours. After 30 minutes of use, the icon showed that I had a bit over four hours remaining. Yet still, shortly after that it changed again to reflect that the battery had 8 hours remaining. This reporting inconsistency raises some questions about how trustworthy those numbers are. I suspect it’s a Microsoft operating system issue and have nothing to do with the Notebook. The Notebook 9 doesn’t have many ports available, and none were designed to handle a usb-dongle for a Mouse. As such, I linked my mouse to the Notebook using Bluetooth. The charger uses a USB-C-type connector, which is becoming commonplace on more and more devices today. The Notebook came with Windows 10 pre-installed, as well as McAfee’s virus protection. I did find it necessary to run several Windows updates to get it up to the latest and greatest version after the initial setup was complete. Getting it configured for Google Cloud Print, loading my Epson Printer software, and more happened quickly on this unit. The Notebook comes with a Pen included for those of you who might prefer using a Pen rather than a mouse or in conjunction with a mouse, or perhaps prefer using tablet mode instead. I’m personally not big on pens, thus the reason I connected a mouse after the initial setup was finished. The case I eventually purchase for the Notebook will need a storage spot for the pen because the Notebook doesn’t have any attachment points for doing so. A big plus for this unit is how thin and light it is? Very thin and very light - a big plus in my book. The external speakers were noticeably lackluster when playing music. They were adequate when watching non-music YouTube videos, but just adequate. Connecting my headphones made all the difference in the world, so if you’re a music aficionado or want to take in the full experience when watching videos or playing music, use headphones. There is a headphone jack for those of you that still use wired headphones. Screen brightness, or lack thereof, has always been a problem in laptops I’ve used in the past. The Notebook 9, in my opinion, is outstanding and is the best I’ve seen on a portable device like this. Samsung further enhances the experience by providing a Samsung Settings app. It provides quick access to audio, keyboard, network, and more. I did try adjusting the audio using this app when playing music, but only saw some minor improvements. As I said before, use headphones. Despite lacking in some areas, I really like this Notebook. So much so that the Notebook 9 is obsoleting my Chromebook into retirement. It won’t obsolete my desktop, but it will see a lot less use in the future, I’m sure. All in all, this is a keeper!

I got my Notebook on a really good sale and have been very happy with it. There are a few complaints I have is that led to a four star rating. First, the touch pad is definitely sub-par, especially after using Macs for so long, and if I wasn't using it almost exclusively for business, the terrible sound would bother me much more. I don't think I can ever buy a plastic laptop again, but for aluminum, it could be a bit sturdier. In response to the comments I read on battery life, I have found that the screen brightness affects battery life a lot, but even though it is no where close to Apple battery times, it is much better than other Windows machines I have used.

I personally like the thin concept and the style of this laptop. I wanted a laptop that had a long lasting battery and a laptop that has quiet performance. This was the laptop that had both of the key points I wanted in my laptop. Also, before I bought this laptop, I was thinking to get either this laptop or the Mac pro. I am happy that my decision came down to this laptop because I realized that Microsoft has a variety of features that Apple does not. Even though this laptop was high in budget for me, I do not regret buying this laptop.

SAMSUNG Notebook 9 Pro This notebook is actually a 2 in 1. It has a 13” screen that is bright and well lit. The mouse pad movement is accurate but clicking seem to move the pointer a bit and sometimes you end up not clicking on what you want. It’s processor is an i7-8565U running at 1.80Ghz. It is a standard laptop quad core processor. That has a max turbo speed of 2.00Ghz, you most likely wont ever see that speed. It comes with 8 Gigs of ram soldered on the board, there are no additional slots to add more. It is shipped with a 256Gb SSD. The SSD is a Western Digital M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 3.0 drive and can be upgraded easily. It has a large 11.5V 55Wh battery. My run time was just over 6 hours with standard watching videos and surfing the web. The run time may get better with some additional use. Samsung includes a program that can extend the battery life, not run time, by only charging the battery to 85%. This is best for a Li-ion battery but will reduce the run time on each charge. If you intend to keep this laptop longer than 2 or 3 years it might be worth it to only charge the battery to 85% if you use it close to an outlet. The ports are, left side, a headset jack, 2 Thunderbolt 3 (also call USB-C4 in some areas). The Thunderbolt 3 ports can be used as standard USB-C ports. On the right side there is a USB-C port, a Micro SD card slot that does allow the SD card to be fully inserted with nothing sticking out of the side, the power button that doubles as a finger printer reader. It has a standard camera in the display bezel however this camera is NOT Windows Hello usable. The speakers are down firing and sound good a hard surface but are a loss when the unit is setting on something soft. The processor fan has an opening on the back of the base of the unit. With my use I never heard the fan get loud enough to be disturbing. The unit also never got hot enough to be noticeable. It has a lighted keyboard that can be controlled with a function key, it has 30, 60, 100, and 0 settings. It came with an active pen that has a few tips you can change out. The pen has NO place to keep it with the laptop so you will be required to get your own case you can keep the unit and pen in. Any of the USB/Thunderbolt 3 ports can be used for charging the unit. Keep in mind there are NO standard USB ports. Any peripheral you intend to attach will require an adapter. I think this is a mis-step on SAMSUNGS part. We are not completely ready to run without at least 1 standard USB port yet. There are no external charging indicators to show you the state of charging while plugged in. The only light is on the keyboard bezel. If closed and charging you have no indication if it is finished or not, this is another mis-step on SAMSUNGS part. My last mis-step by SAMSUNG is the finger print reader. I was about 30% able to use it, no matter how many times I set it up. Placement of your finger on the reader is critical and the reader is the small power button on the side. It doesn’t stick out, nor is it recessed for your finger to find it. It should have been placed on the keyboard bezel someplace since your only going to be using it while the unit is open. It has no optical drive, nothing is this size range does. It has Bluetooth and 802.11 AC and N, but for N you have to change the settings in windows to get that. I was unable to test the N because I have no N access point. It is completely possible that it will change itself when logging into an N access point. It came with McAfee LiveSafe 60 day trial. You may want that, I did not. In the line of bloatware there isn’t much. Most of what is preloaded is up to you to start. This is a nice change from the norm. My bottom line is for the price point you may want to check what others are offering. This unit is compact and well made with it’s all aluminum shell. If you do not require a full size USB port you can expect good things from this. However carrying around adapters is a pain. Real life scenario, you’re at school, someone has a file you need, they hand you a thumb drive and guess what, you cant use it. You will be required to either, have an adapter, or have a dual ended thumb drive (USB on one end USB-C on the other) they have them and they are not priced out of range so I would suggest you get one with this unit.

I'm in college so I purchased this laptop for school purposes. It's thin and compact so it fits perfectly in my school bag. Another thing I love is how the keyboard is very sleek. I also had no idea that it was touch screen until I read the manual so that was another plus for me! I don't use the pen that it came with as I have no reason for its use at this moment. Overall, I'm happy I made this investment! Would def recommend to family and friends!

Replacement for a Lenovo and I’m very happy with this Samsung. Quick start and operation, including fingerprint security. Vivid screen. Having fun flipping it into tablet mode and “painting” or just viewing streaming programs for fun—when I’m not doing heavy laptop work (nice diversion). Visually attractive, slim, lighter weight than my old Lenovo (similar size).
