A couple months in and I can safely say I made the right choice. If you don't need a fancy camera on your chromebook, get the Pro. -Battery life is great. -Screen is great. -Build quality is great (but maybe don't have it in the machine shop). -COREm3 dominates in this form factor. I had my heart set on the Samsung Chromebook Plus, but while waiting for the CSR to fetch it I started looking at (and mildly fondling) the Pro model. For the difference in price, the decision wasn't difficult for me. The fancy camera of the Plus is traded for a (very nice) Quad HD display on the Pro. The camera on the Pro isn't hot garbage, but I won't be using it outside of a few conference calls. The Pro-cessor (get it?) offered is a core m3, which rates significantly higher on passmark scores than what the Plus ships with; it shows not only as numbers on a graph, but in the fantastic everyday performance of most applications. I say most because this thing is too thin to be pushing real loads, and with the thermal solution right above the keyboard you'll notice the heat both in keyboard and tablet modes. Both models offer the Pen, and it's downright awesome. The included ArtCanvas program is a very functional tech-demo of the pens capabilities, and runs like a dream on the Pro. Battery life is fantastic, with my (very unconventional) best use case seeing 10+ hours of life. During normal daily use I haven't dropped below 70%, and I wasn't exactly sliding into home plate on days I abused the Pro (30%). The keyboard isn't my preferred style, but I've been able to get used to it. The overall build quality of the Pro is what turned my head in-store, but the keyboard stood out significantly from the Plus in terms of feel. Also, it's backlit and that's awesome. A couple months in the Pro seems infallible, and I can recommend it to any professional that has a proper workstation for the heavy loads but wants something thin, light and quick for personal use.

    A PREMIUM Chromebook

The "Pro" in the name is spot-on accurate. Samsung hit a homerun with this model. Although it's identical in nearly every spec to the previous model (XE510C24-K01US), the key differentiator here is the backlit keyboard & that is HUGE for me. I upgraded to this model from the older Acer C720. So far, I've been extremely pleased with the Pro. It's sleek, sexy, powerful, & the screen is top-notch. My wife, who is die-hard on Apple products, even took notice at the build quality, speed, & superb screen resolution. It's really nice to finally own a premium Chromebook. I know Chromebooks have a stigma of being cheap & weak, however, that is definitely NOT true at all in this case. This is a wonderful machine. And if you are like me & want a great laptop, that not only performs spectacularly but looks incredible as well, then THIS IS THE CHROMEBOOK for you.

This is my second Chromebook, but my other device is a budget system that provides a very different user experience. The Samsung Chromebook Pro feels like a premium device with a premium experience. It's fast, lightweight, has good battery life, the screen is beautiful, and it can run Android apps like a champ. I have been very happy with this purchase.

I absolutely loooooved this chromebook. I purchased the Samsung Chromebook Plus first but took it back because the Palm Rejection didn't seem to work in Google Keep. So, I would be writing with the pen and if my wrist touched any of app icons at the bottom of the screen, then those apps would open up while I was writing. That obviously made it very difficult to get work done in Google Keep which was really important to me. There were some other screen issues with the Plus as well. Long story short, I got the Pro. It is very sleek. The resolution is as expected, beautifully crisp and clear. Google Keep, Squid and other apps were soooo easy to use because the Pro has Palm Rejection built into it. It boots up extremely fast, everything is fast for that matter, switching tabs, apps opening, you name it. The sound was good on it too, not a Bose speaker but it delivered nicely. You can work offline on it using apps like Google Docs and others. Oh and the size made it ever so portable. Tent mode was fun. Tablet mode reminded me of reading from a book or magazine. The touch screen worked great. I looooved my Pro. I just had one major problem FOR ME. It didn't have Adobe Flash which I needed at that time. As much as I didn't want to take the Pro back I had to because of my needs. Being on a budget I could not keep it and buy a Windows computer, which is what I need. At that time, it was one or the other. I tried the Lenevo Yoga 720, ended up with a defective one, had to return it. DECIDED TO GO BACK HOME TO SAMSUNG. I bought the Samsung Notebook 7 Spin...great machine, meets my needs. I really miss my Pro. It was sooo easy AND FUN to use. I AM SAVING MY MONEY TO BUY THE PRO AGAIN. If you are clear on what this chromebook does and doesn't and if it fits your needs, buy it. It's a beautiful machine that doesn't disappoint. The delete key is a bit small but aside from that, at that time while shopping for a chromebook and then purchasing the Pro, I honestly felt that I got the best chromebook out there after the Pixelbook and is some ways the Pro is better in my opinion. For example the Pro has a SD slot, the Pixelbook doesn't. My experience is that Samsung is making great products. I have been using Samsung Note phones now since 2015, just bought a Samsung washer machine, they all work great. THANK YOU SAMSUNG.

New to Chrome OS - Different but Great...

I needed to replace an ailing tablet. I had replaced my wife's tablet with a S-Chromebook Plus early this year and she has had a great experience... I am a Windows, Linux and Android (almost Linux) guy and so I came to look at a S-Chromebook Pro... Very good choice. I am retired IT and involved with a several volunteer organizations where I am either a board member or manage their website. I always had my tablet with me and now my Chromebook to take notes, display information or photographs. One attraction to this brand is the ability to use familiar Android Apps. This thing simply provides a seamless experience between Android and Chrome Apps. (It is also possible to run many Windows Apps but only by adding Wine or something like that but so far that hasn't become a necessity.) Similar to Linux, viruses are a non-issue and system startup from cold is really impressive... Battery life is another pleasant surprise. I frequently have several long meetings in a row and I have never seen 60% battery... nice. I typically use the Chromebook at home to VNC into my desktop where my email resides and also access the local web software to make minor changes... For me this is not a do everything box but is way better than any tablet I have ever used... Understanding the limitations (typically due to application software) I would (and have) wholeheartedly recommended this unit... and for many this could easily be their primary or only computer...

Chromebook is perfect for my daughter for high school to write papers, do research, etc. Wish Samsung had a larger screen model. Super fast start up, lightweight, great screen, plus with pen haven’t used yet though. Battery life seems to be holding up but only had for about 7 days.

Bought this for on the move applications. To be used in what is also called harsh conditions. Samsung offers a complete solution with this Chromebook: Light weight, Long lasting battery and touch screen with pen (for notes taking). It is running really fine. Beside the regular use of Chrome OS, I also added some heavy android apps. The Samsung is running everything in very good and smooth way. Not trying Linux programs yet. No need for the moment...

I am really invested into the Chromebook market. When this device came out over a year ago, I did not want to pay $600 for this. Now, with more high-end Chromebooks available on the market (Chromebook Plus 2, Pixelbook, etc), the price of the Pro went down. I even found a used one at Best Buy for $400. It was a good deal so I went for it. I was pleased...but wanting more from it. Pros: This is a very good Chromebook. I won't get into all the specifications, others have done that already. I am very impressed at the feel of the Chromebook Pro. The keyboard has good feel when typing, good movement for my fingers. The screen quality is where the Pro really shines. It has a 12.3 inch 2400x1600 display. The Colors are really vibrant and crisp which looks amazing when watching videos and searching the web. The speed is really fast with the Intel Core M3 Processor 6Y30 ; 2.2Ghz Speed and 4GB LPDDR3 Memory. Like I stated earlier, this is a very snappy device despite being over a year old now. Cons: The biggest one that I have with the model I bought was that it came with only 32GB of eMMC space. That is not enough for anyone wanting to save files on so you can work offline. The 64GB version is no longer available, and I wish they kept that one in stock. The other con that I found was the way it was designed. When using the Pro in Tablet mode, the extra large bezel on the bottom of the screen that has the SAMSUNG label on it is really large. In fact, all of their Chromebooks suffer from this problem. I believe that Google and HP did it right with the Pixelbook and X2 respectively. It just looks odd to me, even though it does serve as a good spot to place your hand to hold the Pro when in Tablet mode. Like I said, I really wanted to love the Pro, and it does match really well with the newer devices out in the market today. But that small hard drive and large bezels really bother me. Despite that, if you can get over those designs, then this is still a really good Chromebook. Not exactly a replacement for your laptop, but a really good option for your introduction into the Chromebook world.

This is exactly what I was looking for: Small thin computer that is light and easy to carry with good battery life. I love the pen. My only complaint would be the smaller keyboard, but it's not a big enough deal to knock it a star.

    Almost The Best...

I've had eyes on this for over a year. It's always had the appeal of being near perfect. Great solid build, Touch screen, built in pen and great screen... but then it starts to fall apart a bit. I'll explain how. - The screen. While it definitely gets bright enough, for some reason it feels bland... I'm not sure if it was like this prior to the pie 72 update but images just don't look as colorful as you hope they would. - The keyboard. There are a few issues here, While it is backlit... the backlight is so subtle that you literally have to have the lights off in a room to see it... kind of a let down there and then theirs the feel of the keyboard itself.. the keys feel mushy. Theirs not enough click behind them so it equals a meh experience. and then just like what many others have mentioned, the keyboard feels cramped. so I wouldn't recommend it unless you have smaller hands. - The Processor. Now I know that the intel M processor isn't the greatest but I had the Hp X-2 for about a week and a half prior to this and it certainly felt snappier than the Samsung Chromebook pro. For some reasons, it feels choppy. and when it updates a play app, It freezes for about 3-5 seconds. That just equates to a subpar experience. Conclusion- NOW with all of this being said, If you can snag this Chromebook used in great condition for under $300, then it's perfect. But at this point, if you're spending more than that on it, there are other Chromebooks out that do what this tried to do, now but better.

Love my CBP. Bought my first as an open box, but had trouble with battery draining after 3 hours. Returned it and got an exchange for brand new one! Batter life on stable channel is about 6-8 hours with light use. With heavy use, 5-6 hours which is way better than my laptop but I hear some Chromebooks do better on battery. By turning the brightness down to about 60-75% and keeping BT off, I can consistently get 6 to 6.5 hours on a charge. Pretty good. Its fast, but running a Linux Shell will slow it down a tad. Running a Linux shell is easy if you follow the online instructions---just don't let your CBP go to sleep cuz your Linux shell will freeze. Love the aluminum frame. Its very sleek and sturdy. Im ordering a skin for it to keep it scratch free. Only drawback: still waiting on Google to implement Crostini support. That will allow you to run Linux apps from Chrome OS without having to run a shell, so just like running an android app. As of today, 11/17/18, no support for that.

I am used to having a regular sized laptop but this one is amazing. It isn’t too heavy for when I have to walk long distances. I enjoy how you can flip it in half to only use the touchscreen when I am researching about different things. I’m able to do maybe assignments when I’m on the public commute to work.
