I found this Blu-Ray player while researching reviews on CNET's website. It received a excellent rating and had decent reviews. I was skeptical about buying a refurbished item, but it arrived in great condition and no defects have been detected. First the good, the player is thin, light, but has a solid feel to it. The video quality is excellent. On par with players costing much more. The Wi-fi was simple to set-up and I was connected to my home network in minutes. The connection has been stable, and when streaming Netflix I do not get any delays. Viewing videos/pictures via a flash drive is a snap with the front loading USB drive (players with a rear USB port just dont make sense). The quality is excellent via this media also. The touch screen buttons on the face add to the sleek look and are responsive and snappy. I use this player in my bedroom, but I believe it is good enough to be the stand alone player in your main home theatre system. My main uses are BD, Netflix (via wi-fi), and movies via USB port. Now, the bad. Reports of this player having slow boot times are accurate, to a point. Total boot time from 'power on' to 'DVD menu' is about 1min 15 secs. That really isnt a long time, it's just that some other players are faster. I usually put the DVD in and then grab a drink or some other meaningless task. By the time I'm settled in, the movie is ready to play. I mean seriously, it's only about 90-seconds we're talking here. Not enough reason to pass on this player. I think the remote was a bit of a let down as it is not backlit, and the forward/rewind buttons are glow in the dark, but fade very quickly. This makes it tough to navigate the remote when viewing at night. Overall, I have been very pleased with the workmanship of the player, and the output of video quality.

I got this device for a gift for Christmas in 2010. I haven't even had it for a year yet. At first everything worked great. Awesome picture, quick wifi, great for netflix, a bit laggy during movies and when you switched it on which i can deal with. But today I turned the device on it said it had a new update. Awesome, I went through the update steps which took a really long time. Then i went to watch a blu-ray movie (seeing as it is a blu-ray player.) and it would not play the disc. It just made a grinding sound. So I tried a few of my other blu-ray discs none of which worked either. Then I decide to try a dvd. It had no problem playing that. Now what good is the blu-ray player if it doesn't play the blu-rays i spend the money on? I went through all the reset procedures and none of those worked. People I contacted at samsung were "zero" help to me. So no I would not recommend a product to anyone that will stop working after a few months and that would need servicing ever so oftern. At that point you minds well through your money in the trash. I gave it a 2 and that is being nice.

Pros: Great picture and when it is wokring correctly its a very nice player. The wi-fi is great too Cons: SLOW!!! Will not allow me to go right to disc menu. I have owned this for a year now and after many updates its still slow and I am almost ready to throw it out the window. Literally right now voices and actions are out of sink on a new movie. The unit g Summary: I have owned this unit for over a year now & I love samsung, but I wish this unit would work faster and not freeze as much. I own a samsung TV that I am incredibley happy with, but this unit was a big dissapointment.

I bought this same model new. I was so dissatisfied with the set up (repeatedly cycled through set up everytime I installed a BluRay Disc) and the long wait time for the unit to initialize when turned on that I returned it. The picture was beautiful once you actually got it to play the movie.

First I want to say that picture that I got when playing blu-rays was top notch and as good as the next blu-ray player that I purchased. Set-up was relatively easy and initally I could connect to WIFI. The problem was that the WIFI connection was unreliable and it would drop often. After about a week the connection would not work. When I tried setting it up again I would have to go through the whole process of selecting the SSID and entering the WEP Key. I could not get the unit to connect. I kept on having to reenter/set-up the SSID and WEP Key with no luck. I tried moving the unit closer to the access point but that did not work. I know that the WIFI was working since my laptops and phone had no problem connecting to the Netowrk. Also the next Blu-ray player I got has no problem connecting to the WIFI. In the end I returned it to best buy and purchased a Panasonic that had a WIFI adapter that attaches to the back of the unit works great. Samsung is a good brand so maybe it was just a defective unit.

Bought this blue ray player new to go with my led samsung tv and it has been nothing but a pain. It plays blue rays well and that is about the extent of it. It WILL NOT connect to wifi. Samsung customer service said it was my wifi's fault not the players fault. Well my wifi works flawlessly on my laptop, ipad, and xbox 360. I am returning it and am not going to buy another samsung player.

It worked great for the first few days and then my wifi would not register. I sometimes had to reset the bluray player 2-3 times before it would work. Sometimes I would get a great picture but then the volume would not work. I have fiber optic internet and wifi on wii and my computer worked fine so I know it is the player. Best buy return was great and they will ship me another one right away. hopefully, this will solve the problem.

I know it was refurbished, but came with some physical damage that I could deal with considering how our home entertainment center is set up. However, it just stopped working. It will turn on but will not connect to any TV's in our house. While it was working, the wi-fi feature to get Pandora & other online things was awesome. I am returning it this weekend.

The main reason I bought this unit was to connect to internet and stream via Netflix and Hulu (the blu-ray player was just an added bonus). When I first connected the unit all went well. Some weeks later I moved the unit and from then forward nothing but problems. The unit will not connect to the internet via WiFi or wired connection. I've spent hours working through all the the troubleshooting - nothing works. Search the internet and you will find lots of people with problems with no solution forthcoming. I cannot recommend this unit.

well i was very excited to get this unit to match with my samsung 58 inch plasma. Set it up , it updated software and we were ready to roll. All the online apps worked great, watched a redbox dvd, then tried a blu ray from my collection. Player froze up 4 mins in. so I had to turn it off because all the buttons were unresponsive. So then i tried it about 3 more times and then tried 3 different blu ray disks. They all did the same exact thing. The player froze up at all different random places within the first 10 mins of watching. Back it went to the store

This product has been nothing but trouble since its purchase. I bought this to put with my Samsung HDTV, but a few months after purchase it began not playing DVDs and Blu-Rays. i returned the player and replaced it with the same model, hoping I had just got a defective device. A few months into our second player of the same type, it began having issues playing audio. There would be a visual on the screen, but no sound. Calling customer service resulted in setting the player to factory defaults before I could get it repaired, but that only fixed the problem for two weeks. When the same problem began happening again, customer service tried to have me reset to factory defaults again before getting repairs. When I requested to just get the player fixed, they told me it would cost $50 because the labor warranty (but not the parts warranty) had run out. For that price, I would already be about halfway to a brand new player. I can't discourage others enough from buying Samsung Blu-Ray players, and plan on switching to another brand immediately.

I bought this Blue Ray, because it offered features like accessing my computer content (photos, music, videos, etc.). Well, I found out that they don't offer software compatible with MAC computers. I bought it in Feb 2011 and when I tried to download the software from Samsung website, I was told at that time they didn't have "PC Share" for MACs. I checked again in Sept 2011, and was told the same thing.

I got this to Blu-Ray player in order to be able to connect our bedroom TV to our wi-fi. It works great - Netflix, Vudu, etc. Connecting it was simple. The picture and interface are much better than our kids' XBox on our den TV. Only draw back is we can't get the kids out of our bedroom so we can enjoy "our" TV.

I bought this model for the wi-fi capability. It was extremely easy to connect to my network and the picture and sound quality from streaming netflix was perfect. I had a little issue with the sound while watching a blu-ray but the problem was with my receiver and not the player. The menus and set up do take a little bit of time to work through, but all in all a solid product.

long load times which i could live with. blurays skip and freeze up. (yes i did firmware update) i have had good luck with refurbs in the past. feel they go through everything with a fine tooth comb. this one was a bust. returning today.

I am not commenting on the quality of the unit!! I am commenting on the fact that nowhere in the description for this unit does it mention it DOES NOT come with a remote control and the remote must be purchased seperately!! Gee, who needs a remote for a Blu-ray player anyway??

Picked up my second unit today. I had returned the first one because I assumed it had to be broken. I was wrong. After messing with the internet settings for hours, I finally stumbled on a forum discussion that stated the player won't work with WPA Security. I changed the security in my home over to WEP and continued to have issues. I finally got it connected, but every time I turned the unit off, I had to setup the network configuration from scratch. TERRIBLE. Don't waste your money. I will be swapping for a new brand tomorrow.

I have owned this unit for close to a year. Quality and value are unsurpassed in the BD-C6500, setup was a breeze, I plugged a HDMI and Ethernet cable in and the unit automatically configured the network then downloaded updates, installed the free apps and guided me through the Netflix validation process. It could not have been easier. Audio and video quality is excellent and I could not be more pleased. This unit is an outstanding addition to my home theater system.

I bought this unit about one year ago (new...not the refurb). I'm writing this review because I'm tired of buying poorly performing electronics. Do not believe any reviews that give this unit 5 stars, prob. reps from Samsung writing them. Since day one this product has frozen up when playing blu ray disc or regular dvd's. Some times it works great, but other times you will need to reset the player multiple time before it starts the movie. Some blu ray movies freeze up in the middle of the movie. What good is a blu ray player if it can not play movies? Only one positive, I have not had any problems with the WiFi.

I just bought this player and liked it until I wanted to enable the built-in Wi-Fi. During setup I'm presented with the message that everything is OK and I'm connected to my homenetwork, but when I went to the Internet@TV section I'm asked to connect to the internet? After several hours browsing the forums and talking to Samsung support I'm giving up and return this box to BB.
