    Very Good Camera

I own two of these outdoor samsung cameras. They have been working good for couple weeks now and have very good day and night video. Good motion detection too. They also work well with the samsung software that is available for their IP Cameras. I have found that a 32GB micro SD card can hold about 3 days of continuous video recording and will record both motion detection and continuous video at the same time.

    Installed two - very pleased

After several months of research, I determined the Smartcam Indoor/Outdoor camera system was the only one that met all of my needs. I wanted local recording (not cloud-based), outdoor with night vision, good range and wide-angle, high-resolution, and the ability to monitor remotely through my iPhone or iPad. I could not find any other options that met every requirement. Installation beneath the eaves over our rear driveway and front door was relatively simple, and operation is flawless. Internet access works, but needs some polish, but the iOS apps are very good. Picture quality, night vision, and motion detection (after some tuning) all work very well. Bottom line: we are very happy with the Smartcams we purchased.

Amazing If you know how to use it...

I have read all these reviews and I am amazed on how many people cannot set this up. First of all you need a good router and internet speed, and we are not talking Download Speed. A lot of people think they pay for fast internet, but in this case it is Upload Speed. You want to stream 1080p Live Feed and have it clear with no lag you need good upload speeds. If you have some old router or the one your company gave you it isn't going to be that effective either. I have multiple Samsung SmartCams along the house running on a single router, but different bands depending on if its a outside camera or inside camera and I couldn't be happier. The only problem I have is the Zoom feature isn't that great, but none of these Smart Cameras have a better camera then my phone which sucks. The fact that this camera has a SD card reader makes it stand apart from most Cameras and it has helped me catch 2 women who stole my Amazon Boxes from my Porch. It wasn't good enough to read the license plate clear, unfortunately. The only camera good enough for that would be a 10MP Plus Residential Camera. Unfortunately no camera residential grade can come close to that... The only option if you want something that will read a license plate across the street is to go commercial, and unfortunately you would be spending upwards of $500 for on camera, no thank you. This camera is for people that don't easily get frustrated, because they can't figure out their own network to sync the camera. If you are a serious buyer ignore the one star reviews with little to know description. This camera is in the Top 5 alongside: Arlo, Nest, FLIR, D-Link, and I smart.

    Won't stay connected

I wanted an outdoor wireless security camera to put in front of my yard to view my vehicles and thought this would be the best one after doing some research. I had it about 30 feet away from my wifi and it kept losing network connectivity every 4-5 minutes. So we moved it about 3 feet away and it worked fine. It has a very weak wireless connection. I did like how easy it was to setup and get it working. I like how you can view it on you android phone using a playstore app.

    SmartCam vs DropCam

I'm very pleased with the Samsung SmartCam. After a lot of web research, I had reduced the selection to the DropCam Pro and the Samsung SNH-E6440BN. The two deciding factors in favor of the SmartCam were the 15-m night vision and the avoidance of continual fees for the DropCam's cloud storage. Although I wanted the camera for indoor use, the significantly longer 15-m nighttime range was important in my application and I was very pleased that the SmartCam really achieved this range at night with a very good picture. I also liked the "split" design for the camera head and electronics. In my case, it meant that only the camera head needed to be exposed inside the house since the electronics case could be easily powered and "hidden" in my attic.

    Not ready for release

I am a Windows 10 user. What works works well. The hardware seems good. The application is not. Documentation is poor. Samsung tech support is poor (no solutions, no call backs, etc). I am able to view live camera streams remotely. Though I receive motion alerts, I am unable to view motion detect events which are stored on the micro sd memory chip. Five calls later, tech support tells me this is a known problem and there is a firmware revision "due in mid October" which will resolve the issues. Tech Support previously attributed the problem to server outages. It is a known issue, its just that I am not confident in Samsung's solution. It should be ready for market before it is released to the market.

It is a very good camera if you run Windows.

Works great in windows and on smart phones. Does not work with Linux. Kind of odd, being Android is Linux Based.

    When it works, its good.

Great picture, good recording capability, great monitoring ability, BUT frequent server outages prevent me from logging into the camera from cell and getting alerts. This is apparently due to the need to log into Samsung servers for some odd reason. There should have been a backup option to link to my network directly. VERY bad for a camera you need to rely on. Also every 2-4 weeks without fail it stops recording and requires a reset. When it works, I love it. But requirement 1 of ANY security camera is 24/7 operation. Due to the dramatic fail here, I will not recommend, nor will I buy from a company that ships something so critical and can't meet the top criteria. AVOID and spend on another security product line.

Horrible product to setup on Windows 8.

The product packaging says it is supposed to work on Windows 8 but it is a bear to setup. Every time I try to login it says I need web viewer plug in and so I install it. That takes a few minutes. Then I can get to the camera but there is no sound. Then if I log out and try to log back in, it says I need the web viewer plug in. The same one I just installed. This has happened three times in a row. Bad, bad, bad. It does seem to work on windows 7 with netscape, but not on windows 8.

    Sub-par software and support

This is yet another product with a Samsung name that I regret purchasing. For the first few months, all was well, except for the associated apps. A teenager could have done better programming and design, but it WAS -- for the most part -- functional. Fast forward over a few months, and these cameras have been plagued with numerous downtimes related to Samsung server issues. Push notifications for the mention detector are sometimes delated by 10-20 mins., sometimes more than an hour. This makes it somewhat pointless to even have push notifications at all. Now bring into the mix updated OS and browsers. New iterations of the browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari for Mac and I have seen complaints from PC users on Chrome as well) have all dropped support for the plugin required. The camera is no longer functional from your computer. I would have thought that a company like Samsung would be more aware with software development than they are. New browsers and OS should not come as a complete surprise to them as developer versions have been out for some time.To sum it up, this experience with this camera has been typical of my experience with ALL Samsung electronics and appliances. No support after the sale and they really only care about your money in the beginning. Do yourself a favor and stay away, and please if you buy it, don't use it for anything important, like actually watching a baby or security. Use it to entertain yourself by watching your dog when you aren't home, because that's all this camera is good for.

I wanted to like this camera so bad...

I was so excited when Samsung finally released this model that I hunted down 2 cameras and couldn't wait to get them installed. I currently have 2 Dropcams that I use to monitor my yard, but putting a camera on a window sill isn't the best solution for truly monitoring what is going on outside the home. This seemed like the perfect solution for me. However, to my disappointment, this camera fell way short of my expectations and ended up taking the cameras down a couple weeks after I spent a whole day installing them and returning them. Here are some of the serious issues I had with this camera: - Something went wrong with the IR filter inside one of the cameras a couple days after I powered them both up. This resulted in a completely white picture during the day- I couldn't make out anything in the camera's picture. When I called technical support about it, I was told that the camera had to be sent in for repair (not something I was willing to do on a brand new camera that I spent hours installing). -Speaking about Samsung's technical support, it's awful. Every time I called the #, I was placed on hold for 10-15 minutes. It was only then someone picked up and told me that I needed to provide my phone number so that I could be called back hours later due to the volume of calls Samsung was getting. -For users who want to record video on this camera, a microSD card must be placed in the control unit. For the second camera I purchased, something was wrong with this microSD card slot and my card was stuck inside the slot. Instead of slightly pressing the card to release it, I had to find a pair of tweezers to pull it out of the slot. It seemed that something was broken with the lock/release mechanism inside the slot. -Accessing the camera on any device is not a pleasant experience. The browser and mobile device interfaces seemed like they were developed back in the 90s. It is very difficult to do simple things such as browsing through saved video and sifting through motion/sound activity alerts. Since I am a Dropcam user and have experienced a well designed mobile app, I was very frustrated every time I tried to access my cameras on my phone or computer. I wanted to like this camera so bad and wanted it to work out, but I just couldn't do it with all the manufacturing defects I experienced. Samsung has a long way to go with this model before I think it can be called a success. Hopefully another manufacturer will come out with an outdoor model with similar advertised specs very soon.

    Nothing but a nightmare!

I've owned this camera system for several months. The application for your smartphone/IPAD devices works when it wants to and kicks you out frequently. This camera system crashes frequently and also causes all of my IOS devices to crash/reset as well. Apple exchanged my devices twice and I have the top model router Best Buy offers. Once I unplugged the cameras, my IOS devices stopped crashing. Poor customer service & tech support! It's not an Apple issue or a router issue. The issue is this system!

This Samsung surveillance camera is great. It has a wide angle lense and very clear. I wanted a camera that I can view on my smart phone and not have to be on the cloud (for privacy reasons).
