Very easy setup, pairs easily and is compatible with many manufacturers, great purchase!

I've had other alarm and automation systems; however, the SmartThings system beats them all. My setup is in a 70s contemporary house that has many obstructions for signals. With the SmartThings system centralized in the house, it's able to perform flawlessly. In fact, the zwave devices act as repeaters, so that I can extend the distance to the detached garage. If any technical issues happen, the SmartThings support staff are fairly quick on response to your issue. The mobile app is very easy to use. The setup of the hub is simple. The pairing of devices takes seconds with the occasional delay with devices farther away. This is a highly recommend system for those seeking self monitoring, although they do have an option for professional monitoring service at $19/mo. ***Read instructions and get to know your system. This will make it easier for you to program the automated routines.

Works with both ZigBee and Z-Wave devices out the gate and has future Wi-Fi and Bluetooth expandability built-in as well. Can bridge older wireless technology such as Insteon or X-10 if additional hardware is purchased. Works with iPhone, Android and Windows Phone.

Setup is super easy. creating your first automation will get you hooked. I have ST connected to Google Home and Phillips Hue. Great thing about ST is its integration with other apps like IFTTT, Smart Lighting and other products with Zigbee or Zwave tech that allows you to buy non Samsung or Phillips products that have this tech on the cheap. A feature i didnt know id like as much was that all the sensors have a temperature gauge to help you figure out the warm and cold spots throughout the house. Get this and get ready to spend TOO much time automating your life.

Looking to automate many different things with our house. This included buying a Smartthings hub, an Amazon Echo, and pairing them with a smart thermostat. The Smarthings app does a pretty good job keeping all the controls in the same place. This works great for setting up automated lights and notifying you of movement or doors being open. At this point i don't have enough confidence in the "Security" part of it to make sure that it doesn't go off at unexpected times. The software also doesn't have enough user permission features. For example, my wife and i can have the software on our phones and have the same access which is good, but at this time we cannot set-up my son with access with more limited capabilities. Hopefully that will come before we need to use it.

I bought this system after spending a lot of time researching the smart home concept. The system is very versatile and easily expandable. I can control all switches and lights in the house in addition to working as a house security and updating you on different parameters of your house conditions (incl. humidity, temp. etc

Contemplated between insteon and smarthings. Went with smartthings hoping that Samsung becomes a big player in home automation. Absolutely love this and have recently added the ecobee3 thermostat. I also use Amazon echo to control these devices and have not been disappointed by any of these choices.

I liked the kit as a whole. I loved the door/window sensors. The motion sensor is very sensitive. The fact that you can connect it to work with other devices in your house like Philips hue lights is amazing. I use it with my Google Home and it is awesome!

I spent quite a bit of time researching solutions before investing in SmartThings as my home hub for automation. The draw for me was the relatively large number of home automation components that the hub could control as well as the potential for extending the capabilities of the hub using custom scripts. The hub has, however, had it's issues with respect to reliability and is why I have made a conscious decision not to integrate my home alarm system with other home automation components. I would recommend you do the same until you have see 99.99% uptime. Until then, I would consider home automation a hobby...

I've been using the SmartThings hub and things for a few weeks now and do not have a single complaint. I also got the Samsung SmartCam to go with it. The SmartCam took a little bit to get working, but haven't had any issues with it since.

I use the app on a Samsung phone and have no problems with it. This kit is great. It was easy to set up. It works with everything I have tried to use with it so far, including everything that came with it, Arlo Cameras and the Ring Doorbell. I wish they would allow for local storage of video through the hub, so it would still record if your internet was down, but that is about the only negative I have at this point. With all the notifications you can set up, it is like being your own alarm company, without the monthly fees. Happy with the purchase.

Installation of this product was easy; however, one of the sensors for the windows is very sensitive and kept saying it was open when really it was closed. I had to go out and buy thicker adhesive tape to use than what was provided. The app will also take some getting used to. Overall a great product though!

I bought this to start switching to a smart home. It is a great hub and starting kit. Easy to connect and add items to it. I have added Alexa, front door key less entry, SkyBell and ARLO security cameras without any issue.

Works with a ton different products. The app can be a little buggy at times and lacks some control for certain products but I would definitely buy again.

Works well with Amazon Echo, supports lots of devices. Would give 5 stars if supported electronics (TV, receiver), but Harmony hub handles, also with Echo. Security can arm/disarm automatically sensing when you leave/return. Interface is a little complicated to cover lots of flexibility (e.g., BR light on with motion, but not if Armed Night), gets easier with use.

While there are things that could be done to improve Smartthings, it is the best thing out there at a reasonable price point. Works with Amazon echo.

It was pretty easy to get Smart-Things going, and the so far things are working pretty good. The devices in the kit link up seamlessly. The extensibility is the main reason I bought this, so hopefully they keep expanding. The iOS app has given me some issues when adding new iPhones, but I fixed that by going to the website to delete the devices. * The reason I give it 4/5 is based on the value for the money - it is still pretty expensive for a few basic sensors and a hub. You'll probably want a few more power outlets or smart lights.

Bought the Smartthings starter kit for use mostly as a self-monitored security system. It works pretty well for that, especially after they fixed some issues with arming/disarming the system. The only major issue is that the motion sensors from Smartthings are not pet-friendly and triggered every time one of our cats walked through the area. Smartthings tech support recommended a compatible pet-friendly motion sensor from another company (Ecolink), so the issue was resolved. What I like the most about the system is the large number of compatible devices from other manufacturers. This really adds to the usefulness and versatility of the system. We have since purchased a couple of smart wall outlets and a smart wall switch from Leviton, but have yet to install them. These will replace the timers currently plugged into the outlets and allow more programming versatility. Overall, I am very happy with the Smartthings system and would buy it again.

First kit I purchased contained a "hub" that would not link with the app. I exchanged the kit and set up was extremely easy.

It took less than an hour to set everything up, and it all works perfectly. I also tied it to my Kwikset locks to automatically lock the door when we leave! Works exactly as I want it to.
