A good way to get into using SmartThings. It's nice that the door sensors and motion sensor also include temperature. Place these strategically and buy cheaper door sensors to cover any remaining doors or windows.

A functional, flexible, practical and expandable home automation and security system. The devices in the kit are working for a month now as expected without issues (except had to re-add a multipurpose sensor which was stuck in open state - after removing and re-adding got resolved). The motion detector, outlet, hub, multipurpose sensors are all functioning fine along with the App. App's layout of screens is a bit non intuitive but is fully functional. I have been using X-10 for 18 years and the zigbee and zwave technology used in this is much superior and reliable. It's at a level that it is useful practically now and not just a technology demo toy. Flexible because of technologies and room for growth.

Had read a number of reviews on this product. Now backed by Samsung this originally crowd funded project has strong financial support and a lot of products from other major manufacturers in the program. Very easy to setup. Everything worked well, right out of the box. Even my very "non tech" wife likes the remote function capabilities.

Hub works and integrates with several different vendors. The home kit covers 2 doors, 1 electrical outlet and a motion sensor. I have also integrated a garage door, 2 Cree Connected lights, and my Harmony Hub!

The smartthings system was super easy to get set up and running. The notification response from the hub to the app is pretty quick as well. Works well with my other home automation devices too.

There really isn't anything new with this model its the same as the 2015 so i'm guessing they will be updating this line with the "new" bar tech they have on the macbooks soon as well. However, if you did not find the bar "revolutionary" then this can't be beat especially since it will keep going on sale for 1-200 below cost.. This got 4 stars cause any other product that had not been undated for as long as this laptop would've seen a much higher price drop or be on clearance.

Started using the latest version of this product 3 months ago. In general it is working great. In the past I was using AT&T digital life to automate my house, including many light switches, smart plugs, cameras, door and window sensors. The Samsung smart thing can do all of the above without any monthly fee. But the only thing is that each sensor/device is expensive to buy initially. Overall I am very happy with the purchase.

Got this after researching and my son's experience with SmartThings. It replaces Lowe's IRIS, which worked well, but required a monthly fee to do much. It can be a little daunting to set up, but revisions have been made to the software that have improved it, since I installed it.

Setup was fairly easy and quick. Only issue was that the outlet needed to be pretty close to the hub to get them to sync and it took a few tries to actually sync. The instructions do say that you may have to place the outlet and hub close to each other if it doesn't sync automatically upon use. After syncing up, the connection has been fine and the monitoring and control of the outlet is easy with the app.

Its a good kit as long as it works. Cant be relied upon considering how frequently its cloud support goes for a toss and the delay that the customer care reps take to reply to your messages. If their infrastrcture issues were to be fixed it could be one stop shop for people On a home automation project

Good way to start out on a smart home

Up front, I'm only taking away 1 star for the overall smart home experience not this set. The hub comes with a good collection of sensors to get a decent home security/monitoring setup going. My only complaint is that the motion detector is not pet immune so that may or may not be a detractor for you. I bought a pet immune sensor and use the included motion detector to trigger night lights where our dogs won't set it off. There are endless ways to use the sensors and adding voice control through either Amazon Echo or Google Home really makes it all come together. I also have a Harmony remote system and Arlo cameras to round out the whole set up. Everything does work together which is great, but here are hiccups where things you would think are obvious, don't work the way you would expect. I may be a bit more of a power user but I haven't found a way to tie my phone's alarm clock with the sensors to turn on lights/music/coffee when I wake up. In the end, it's a well supported and growing system of interconnected services, so if you are willing to put up with having to learn how everything will work together, it is a really cool system. It's great to be on the couch and tell google to turn off (or dim) a light that's reflecting off my TV instead of having to walk over and hit the light myself. In short I would recommend smartthings because it is probably the best supported smart home hub out there right now.

I bought this to experiment with smart technology. It was very easy to setup. Included sensors paired effortlessly. The app can be a bit daunting, but after few minutes I figured it out. What I haven't I figured out yet is the the killer app; what makes this a must have. All I have done so far is automate a light. nothing exciting, and something I could have done with a stand alone motion sensor. I have more sensors and switches en-route, so perhaps I will find that killer setup. If you are looking for an easy to use smart home system, this will fit your requirements.

Added Smartthings after starting with Insteon. Both work with Alexa, although Smartthings integration with Alexa does not currently support getting sensor status such as temperature and open/close. I have found Smartthings compatiblity with zigbee devices a nice additional capability to save having to add a zigbee hub. Would really like to be able connect via wifi instead of wired only.

If you have newer Samsung products, TVs, watches, phones, bluray players, vacuum bots, buy this! If you don't have any of those, but still want an affordable home security system, buy this! My only problem with this product, is the battery life of the wireless devices included in this older kit. I've heard Samsung has made better devices since I bought this. All I know, is that Samsung honors their warranties. They sent me a replacement door monitor when one failed.
