Just purchased this Smart Things Hub and have not yet purchased any Smart Things accessories to use with it yet. I bought this to work with future Smart Thing security devices and appliances. I have several Samsung Tv's and refrigerator, washer and dryer. Unfortunately they were prior to Smart Things, but future one's will have the capabilities.

I use this for everything:
Make sure I locked the door; check.
Lock the door; check.
Unlock the door; check.
Control my lights; absolutely. The kids have not been locked out, nor have I come home to a dark home. Setup was a breeze, it works seamlessly with my Amazon Dot. I love it.

Utilizing this kit to supply a means to track who and when comes in to our home when no one is home. Easy to setup, but working through a variety of the "kinks". Wish I had some more time on my hands, because there are a few really cool things you can do with this product.

Easy to install and use, small, attractive and unobtrusive, I use mine with a variety of sensors and a set of Arlo wireless cameras. Although everything works when the cameras are run through the Smart Things app on my cell phone, It is much faster when I use the Arlo app for the cameras.

It took about 5 minutes and I had 2 light switches, a thermostat, a leak detector and Google Home all recognized by the hub, and controllable from my phone. Also, was looking at a Logitec hub, but choose the SmarThings because it can sync with more devices.

I wanted to find the best hub for my home automation. Samsung Smart Things seemed to repeatedly come up as the best in the reviews that I read. I have had it installed for over a month and continued to add additional switches and controls. Very intuitive and easy to use.

Amazing device. Bought to integrate to my 2GIG + Alexa and works really well!! was possible to control Z-Wave enable devices by Alexa / ST easily without affect my security system. With Smart Thing i know i am able to integrate other technologies and i am really happy with that!

This thing works great. Not only is it easy to use, but I'm also amazed at how quick it works. Using both Samsung parts and non Samsung products(Lightify) this has been great. It eliminates the need for multiple hubs and everything flows through this and keeps it simple.

An evolution of the Smartthings Hub

The v2 hub builds on the open platform that the Smartthings v1 hub established. SmartApps can now run locally on the hub, so in theory many should continue to work even without an internet connection. It also added an integrated battery backup that the v1 hub lacked.
I still like the open platform that Smartthings has established which integrates with a wide range of devices with open standards (Z-wave and ZigBee) as well as proprietary platforms like Amazon Echo and Phillips Hue.
My main dislike about the v2 hub is that the power connector is no longer the micro-USB connector that the original hub used. It is nice to have a readily available standard cable that you can get in different lengths so you can put your hub in the best location.

I had a high-end controller which burned out and was too busy to deal with automation for a while. After getting Echo Dot, I decided to dive back in and chose SmartThings It works great, responds quickly, easy to program with app and works perfectly with Echo Dot Alexa.

I have used other smart hubs and by far this has been the most reliable and the best supported. Great product if you want to have control of your homes smart devices like lights, thermostats, garage doors, security system.

This unit is affordable and easy to set up. I can see why there are lots of comments regarding the lack of instructions to set up devices but it takes just a little more effort. With the expanding connections available, this unit should be on your consideration list.
