    Awesome Hardware Ugly App

Everything that promises is delivered. Easy to connect everything and sometimes works better the the original hubs from lights. The only drawback is the app. Is really ugly yet and does not make much sense. If you don’t have a voice assistant it can become really annoying to use.

Smartthings is the best smart home system available. No other mainstream system is compatible with both Z-Wave and Zigbee platforms. My home has both types of device, all of which work flawlessly. Although the hub is only $99, each smart device that you purchase can add up quickly. I have smart locks on the exterior doors of my home, and a few smart light switches. Each door smart lock was $170, and each switch will run you between $30-$50. I would recommend getting one or two each month. Setting routines is easy and makes routine daily activities (such as walking the entire house to shut off all of the lights before bedtime) extremely easy.

I got the Smarthings hub to pair with my Arlos cameras, google home minis, and lights throughout my home. I love the smartthings. Its easy to set up ITTT commands, pairs with all smart devices easy and always connects quick. I love it and would recommend.

Let me start by saying my first experience with home automation was iris which was terrible I was really looking for something HomeKit enabled I researched staples connect Samsung smart things wemo lutron cadets and wink. I also have a nest cam ring video doorbell and echo all of which works with smart things (iris is not compatible with Eco or nest but even if it was I'd still have switched however to transfer over all of my current devices I would have lost about $300 worth of modules which simply would not have worked with smart things. In the end I chose a wink and I could not be happier all of these smart automations are for us early adapters so when reading reviews I suggest always lining them up newest to oldest as wink had some very Bad reviews in the beginning however a recent software update has greatly improved its functionality Lowes Iris had better reviews before they updated their system and it is a now a fiasco with generation 2. Smart things just like wink recently updated their firmware on this device and the reviews seem to have improved immensely. Again I went with Wink for device compatibility smart things is a great system thus the four star review if you are starting from scratch you probably would want to go with smart things. Wink has the greatest device compatibility as far as connecting across the board however smart things seems to be more stable. So far the only one that is HomeKit compatible is a system that only uses that song devices I believe Lou Tron however zero nada name of my devices I currently own almost $3000 worth yes I even have a Z wave doggie door. Would have worked I would have really had to start over and quite frankly home kit is not as great as it is cracked up to be HomeKit works with nest however it has been my experience that I do more begging with Siri and commanding because I always get the response "I'm not able to do that right now". This has been my review of the smart things generation to Smart hub once again I ended up with wink and could not be happier however if you are starting from scratch you cannot go wrong with smart things. It is really luck of the draw and nothing is 100% perfect. Remember any home phone three VoIP or home automation system is only as good as your router your Wi-Fi signal and since everything is now cloud-based your Internet connection and speed. Word of caution stay away from any device called IVEE. Ivee sleek ivee voice THEY ARE TERRIBLE! I know Everyone has problems none are perfect but one day they'll get it right!

The Smartthings made it super simple to start turning my house into a smart house. May not have all the advanced functions but for simple automation it works great. Plus it works with hundreds of devices not only Samsung.

I selected the Samsung SmartThings hub after reading a number of online reviews, and I'm not disappointed. This hub works with a number of products, including Z-Wave and ZiggBee, so you're covered for many of the popular smart switches and sockets. Once synced it's easy to remotely control your things, and set up automations based on time, your location, or even if your on holiday! To top it all off it's fairly cheap, do it won't break the bank.

My set up is with Google Home and this hub is what bridges my Google home(also IFTTT friendly) to my Harmony Hub to control my DVD, TV, Cable box, etc. It also is the bridge to use my sengled A19 Classic bulbs and my Arlo Q and Arlo Pro cameras, and Wemo plugs. Lastly it works very well(with a workaround) with visonic door/window sensors. It is really easy to install. More recently I installed the SmartThings hub with Alexa at my friend's house, similar set up, worked very well with sengled a19 classic bulbs, visonic door sensors and Wemo plugs. All around great product, I have purchased 3 already for different houses.

I bought this to replace my Vera hub. It was such a pain to configure and maintain! I've used several platforms over the years and I was skeptical that this would be any better, but WOW was I surprised! It was incredibly easy to set up and pair with all of my existing devices. Even the non-smartthings devices including a Trane thermostat, a Schlage door lock, an Iris garage door controller and an Aeon labs energy meter that I use to tell me when the washer and dryer are done! There is a robust developer environment with people making device handlers for all kinds of third-party hardware. And to top it off scripting events is so easy my 10 year old daughter can do it! To load custom device handler code for some third-party hardware, you need to be a little bit technically savvy. e.g. know where to find the code, where to put it and how to cut and paste! On the other hand there are so many things that are off-the-shelf compatible you may never need to do that. Hats off to Samsung and the Smartthings hub team! Not only would I recommend this to my friends, but I'm telling all my friends who are into or looking at home automation to get one! (Did I mention that I talk to it with my Amazon Alexa?)

    Best Home Automation Hub

I did a lot of research before jumping into home automation and as far as I know, this is the best hub. I have had no issues working with GE z-wave switches and Amazon Echo Dot. My only warning is that you may want to make a smartthings account rather than samsung as using samsung account to set up your device can have some issues (like inability to delete a location). Nothing that impacts functionality but something i would consider a bug I also wish this would work with HomeKit. Unfortunately, that's due to Apple's fault

The hub works well if it is connected. If your router reboots, the hub does not re-connect. The light remains blue until a physical reboot is made after which it connects to the Smartthings server. It has a lot of compatible devices but all will be useless if the hub is not connected to the server. I think this may be a simple firmware update and it will be perfect.

I recently purchased a home that had a few automation devices left it in by the previous owner. I did some research and was happy to see this hub would support all of them along with the devices I moved over with me. It was easy to add this hub and exclude, then add the existing devices. The app isn't the best in the world but the hub is a gem.

Connected to wifi and did the setup it was super easy. Then I added my schlage door lock and that was also easy but it doesn't have to many options for it example( add passkeys for individuals in the house). Also added my arlo witch again was easy and it dose have most features that the arlo app has witch is good. Overall I like the hub and hope Samsung adds more options to their hub so I can do more with door lock. But the Important part to me is I get to see everything is secure in my house.

The setup and use of app, is relatively easy. I have called ST support for a few questions/ problems. Wemo outlets ( which I have) are not fully supported, so they work, but are dropped at times. There are a lot of products which do work, so research before buying to have more success. The Zwave Lock works well with ST , after ST techs and I brainstormed / applied/changed, and discovered the problem ( not ST) . They are very supportive. The fb ST users group is also informative from techie users who will suggestand share , explaining if needed. It is a small hub, which fits easily into a small area. It does need to be directly connected with supplied connector to the router. This limits the distance at which is Has strength, and options for placement. Most reports I've read by users is that they use something in addition, if it is more than a small house or condo. Read all ST materials online, reviews, etc Before buying.

I am happy with my purchase but think the DIY smart home arena is still a bit young for most people. There is a lot that needs to be thought through and setup. Most techies will have no problem, but those short with time or those that want to just plug it in and see things work won't be happy. Once setup, things work wonderfully - just have to be ready to spend time planning and setting things up.
