Good performance (make sure to use the provided cable and a compatible port) with an extremely compact case. This thing weighs nothing but still packs a ton. Make sure to do the firmware updates before you begin.

This is my first foray into using an external ssd. I'm so pleased with the product. This is smaller than I anticipated and is so easily portable. Operates so fast. Seemless use kind of like a thumb drive.

This drive is compact, fast and lightweight. It's a USB 3.1 Gen 2 and can be used with Windows 7 or above, Mac OS X 10.9 or above, and Android Kit Kat ver. 4 or above. The user's guide is simple. This had the best ratings in all PC and computer magazines. Samsung has good customer support in case you have questions.

It's fast. It's reliable. It's portable. Samsung has remained one of my favorite brands. It's attractive but I bought it for usability, not fashionability.

Fast and petite, it's a great little unit. I usually build SSD external drives for my clients' backup needs but this is actually cheaper as a 500GB 2.5" SSD is about $100-$110 plus an external case at $30 from Best Buy. I was out the door, including tax, at a lower than if I had built my own. On top of being cheaper and smaller, it also comes with two cables, a standard USB cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable. This is great as many of my clients have legacy Macintoshes that still have standard USB ports. When my clients upgrade in the future to newer hardware, they already have the proper hardware for backup or to transfer their existing data to the new Mac with this Samsung unit.

I bought as external drive for laptop to run Virtualbox virtual images.. Fast and easy setup (it just works), great performance. Lots of room for external storage as well. Good value for the price

Very fast drive. I use it for my xbox and it works great. No xtra power needed and USB-C if you want it. Much smaller than I expected too. I wish more space was cheaper, but hey thats life.

This is a great external drive and one of the fastest if not the fastest. This solid state drive packs 500GB of storage in a tiny device smaller than the palm of my hand.

I do video work and run a PC repair shop. I have always used portable external hard drives to move data between machines because they hold tons of stuff and are quite cheap per gigabyte. I bought this external SSD because I suspected that having a smaller but much faster external drive might be helpful in both of my lines of work, and boy was I right! This SSD is so fast that it can keep my gigantic RAID arrays 100% loaded during transfers and data transfers are so fast that I almost can't believe it. This SSD makes a huge difference when you're dealing in throughput-sensitive workloads and you won't regret buying it. Highly recommended.

I was actually surprised at how small and light the drive was when I got it. I use this drive for my video editing, It works great for Final Cut Pro and ScreenFlow Pro.

This SSD external drive is super fast and, so far, rock solid reliable. I can't say enough good about the Samsung T5 line of SSDs. Although SSDs are still much more expensive per MB than spinning disks, the costs have come down and are very much worth it. I use this specific drive to do backups of my MacBook Pro with SuperDuper!. What took an agonizingly long time before (even using the SmartUpdate option) now finishes relatively quickly. A half hour, tops, versus the over an hour it would take before. It's not as fast as an internal SSD would be, but it's close enough and, as I said, I can't say enough good about it!

I completed a lot of research on which drive to buy as I wanted to store many different forms of data on it. These items include games, business documents and software I didn't want installed on my C drive because they took up too much space. So I needed something fast and small because it's for a Microsoft Surface Book 2 that is also very thin and portable. The games I run - run perfect and the software I run and edit for work is seamless. Because it was so good I also picked up the 1TB version for family pictures.

I needed a reliable small solid state storage device for offloading 4K video from my portable devices so I went with the Samsung SSD's being that I've been very happy with the speed and performance of their desktop SSD's. This thing is very small and gives me an extra 500GB wherever I am. Build quality is great and the speed is ridiculously fast compared to many portable drives I've used recently.
