Excellent picture quality and does a great job upgrading blurays to 4K. The only thing I don't like is the small remote that doesn't have normal feeling buttons.

The picture quality of 4K content on this player far exceeds that of even the highest end upconverters. Definitely worth the purchase price.

Easy set up, showing a 4kUHD dvd is an amazing experience. So clear, you feel you are right in the picture with them.

This blu ray player works wonderfully with our new 4K TV. The setup was fast and seamless. The picture is superb! So far we have not experienced any difficulties at all with this player and would highly recommend it.

I happened to purchase this at the perfect time when it was not only on sale for $199 but I also got a $10 gift card with it. I love everything about this player except the remote like others have said. This player will play anything and it even makes old DVDs come to life by up scaling them. As far as the remote goes it is very small and everything is bunched together and hard to use but other then the remote this player is one of my best purchases. 4k is the real deal

This is an awesome player and love the new 4K technology. Beautiful picture and love how it upscales non 4K movies.

I bought this thinking that it would be a gimmick as much of the 4k hardware we have been suckered into buying has been. I plugged it in with a high grade HDMI cable (Cinnamon) just to be sure I got the full signal. I watched the Martian in 4k on my 9000 series UHD samsung and all I can say is "WOW." If you have a 4k television and don't feel like watching 4k content on Netflix or buying Sony's stupidly expensive media player that requires you to buy each film individually without media, then get this for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a week, I am very happy with the performance of Samsung's UBD-K8500 blu-ray player. Coupling it with an OLED 55c6p TV has produced clear and concise pictures. My only concern at this time is promoting a handshake between the two that enables the TV remote to control the Blu-ray player. While we have figured all functions for playing a disk amongst the two, I still have not learned how to open or eject a disk using only the TV's magic remote. Maybe in time.

When I decided to up grade to a 4k 65" tv I also decided to up grade my DVD player. This blu-ray player is the perfect match . So far it has handled all of my DVD (great upscaling) and my blu-rays look fantastic.. I haven't had the opportunity to try a 4k dvd yet, but I see no reason to think that the Samsung would perform anything less than outstanding. I will be buying 2 more of these in the near future to replace the 1080dp players in my bedroom and my family room.

Great player with lots of potential. Some of the apps need improvement (lack UHD support). Blu-rays look incredible on this player and UHD even better. DVDs not so much (then again, I didn't buy this to watch standard DVDs). I only gave it 4-stars because of the apps issue.

I watched The Martian on 4k Blu-Ray and it was amazing. I literally said "wow" out loud a dozen times. Don't try to use BD wise though, It makes it unwatchable. I used movie mode for my picture settings and it looked amazing.

You would think if you're spending 400 bucks on a piece of equipment (which I didn't, I got it for $200), the remote would be a lot better than this. Hearing aid battery? Really? Otherwise, even with a non-HDR 4K TV, when I play Blu-rays, there is a noticeable difference in picture quality on my 65-inch VIzio. And the sound is a lot better on my Onkyo 7.2 receiver. I only have one 4K movie, "Independence Day," but it's good. Textures are much, much better. Guess I'll have to watch every movie I own to check out the plaster and the masonry. And the clothing.

I paid extra for the Blu-Ray player because I wanted 4K and 4K upscaling. The improvement in the Netflix and Blu-Ray discs is incredible! I bought it to go with my new 4K SUHD Samsung TV. Loving the huge improvement this setup provides! My only suggestion is to make the remote larger, to make it easier to fast forward or reverse. And the pause button should be between the forward and reverse buttons. (It is above those two, because of the small size.)

I bought this to replace my Sony 4k up scaling blu ray player since my TV supports 4k. This is a pretty good unit for the money, bought it too soon since the price has since dropped but no regrets. Wish I would have waited for the Panasonic to hit the market, but I hate waiting. Good unit for the money but many are saying spent the extra coin and go with the Pany.

This is a great UHD Blu-ray player. I paired it with a Samsung 65" UHD television and it looks GREAT!!! I highly recommend taking the leap to UHD Blu-ray. It is well worth the upgrade.

I really wanted to have an outstanding Blu-ray player for my latest 70" Samsung 4K TV. Of course, it was important for the connection between the Blu-ray player and TV to be "imperceptibly smooth." It turns out, Samsung UBD-K8500 is exactly the right DVD player that is technically superb and exceptionally easy to use. I started building my 4K movie library, already!

Great picture quality. However, it emits an obnoxious, constant high-pitched buzzing noise constantly when plugged in (even when power is turned off). Returned first one for an exchange, thinking it was defective. Unfortunately, the new one does the same thing! Did not return the second one, despite the noise, because there are few options at this time for 4K players. However, every time I walk into the room where the player is located, I am annoyed by the noise. Great picture quality. However, lack of a slow-rewind (only has chapter +/- control) is inexcusable, in my opinion.

I purchased this 4k/bluray player as a Christmas gift for my husband and myself. It pairs wonderfully with our Samsung 4k tv! We thought it made sense to take advantage of the 4k TV, while still being able to play bluray and the occasional DVD on it. It was easy to set-up and the remote is easy to use as well. We have been Samsung users for quite awhile so it was all very familiar which was good. We have enjoyed watching movies using our new player!

The unit works well, and setup was very easy. Like others, I have to agree the remote is very small and utilizes tiny buttons, compounded by the fact that the buttons are not backlit. This alone prevents me from giving a 5 start rating.

This is my first venture into a 4K player. I wanted to replace a 3D player but had some concerns (I waited to see if the industry was going to increase their production of 4K movies) and they have. I needed a 4K and 3D player, as I have many 3D movies. The reviews I read made this a must see when I was ready to make a purchase. Then to find it on-sale, made it a no brainer. Great player and the upscaling of my non-4K movies is really very good.
