I've been using the SanDisk SSD and it is the perfect combination of speed and portability for me. The drive fits great in my work bag, it has a compact design that works well but still houses the 1tb of space which has been incredible. Since I travel often for work, I use it to take with some of my favorite games and extra graphic novels that are harder to store on their own. Having this handy drive makes my downtime all the better and I can easily connect it back to my home computer when I am back without having the hassle of maintaining files in multiple places. The drive works as you would expect, speed is lightning fast for both download and upload. I have quickly been able to move large volumes of data in just a few minutes which is great when I am prepping for travel. Since it has 1tb of storage, I also never worry about running out, plenty of space for everything I have needed. If you are in need of an easy to use and fast SSD, this thing is perfect. Small, fast and tons of storage makes it a must get from my opinion.

Having to split a workflow across multiple computers always requires a certain amount of juggling - especially when large file transfers across machines that may not be fully networked are involved. Fast external SSDs have become increasingly valuable tools to help with file management - and this one works very well. While it's not quite as portable as a thumb drive it comes very close, with a form factor that easily fits into the pocket and can be easily clipped to a keychain or backpack with a carabiner. When transferring large CAD files and renders I found it got very near to the performance of high end internal drives, getting very close to the 2000mbps transfer speed advertised with no issues holding either, allowing me to move 30gb from my daily driver laptop to my my main workstation in just a few minutes - much faster than I could have achieved over WiFi. The design is rugged with a sturdy case that should be reasonably drop and water resistant and a replaceable USB cable. Only thing of note is that you definitely will require a machine that supports the latest USB standards to achieve top speed, though when I tried on a USB 3.1 port it was still offering pretty good performance for an external drive.

Realizing that I had a number of much larger traditional disc backup units sitting around that held all of my photo archives, I took the opportunity to get this compact SSD unit to transfer all of my archived photos onto this unit. I took a 'belt and suspenders' approach by first moving all the files over to this SSD unit and then backing everything up to the cloud. The unit itself is as expected. It is compact with a very good 1TB storage capacity. It is a simple USB plug-and-play unit that my Mac easily recognized and that I then connected my old external hard drives - one at a time - to begin the transfer of files to this unit. There may be better ways of doing this, but the transfer worked great. I now have many external hard drives of photos consolidated onto a single small unit - and also backed up to the cloud. I've had good luck with Sandisk products before, so that factored into selecting this SSD unit versus all of the others that are out there. I had a good experience using this unit.

SanDisk has always been a reliable brand for me when looking for a storage drive for school or work or just saving my music and photos. I've bought so many of their Cruzer flash drives and they've always been reliable. So when I saw they had a new Extreme 1TB portable ssd I had no doubt it would be another good and reliable storage drive. It has up to 1050MB/s read/1000MB/s write speeds. The Extreme is also IP65 water/dust resistance and has a tough plastic and rubber shell providing up to 3-meter (9ft) drop protection. Overall, I really like this portable storage and I've copied and stored all my music, movies, and photos. The protection is awesome because I keep my flash drives in a pocket of my laptop bag and I have forgotten to close it and had my flash drives fall out on the road, so the Extreme makes me feel better knowing If it falls out of my back pack then it will be fine and still be working. I would absolutely reccomend the Extreme to anyone whether you're using it for professional purposes or personal.

I was in need of a small, high speed, large memory SSD drive for my AI files. I have had many Sandisk drives in the past, so this was a no brainer for the situation. I love this drive for many reasons. 1. small in size. Fits in my pocket or in my jacket without feeling bulky or weighing much 2. USB-C connection that is fast on the read and writing of my files. Took about 30 seconds to transfer 1GB from one sandisk to another. Which was also through my USB-A port and USB-C, so I know this drive is fast when using it alone. 3. Rugged, rubbery case, that is easy to grip and seems water/dust resistant to boot 4. Comes with security software to you can encrypt your data and feel safe 5. Comes with USB-C to USB-C cable (although I wish it can with USB-A adaptor to make it more universal with all my devices) So as you can see, this little gem is the perfect drive for all my computing requirements. I think you will be just as pleased if you get it as well. Sandisk has never let me down and the only reason I wanted another was the speed increase for the AI software and file retention.

Review for SanDisk - Extreme 1TB Portable SSD As a content creator, I regularly have to deal with large video files and blocks of still photos. This SSD is the fastest storage device I’ve ever owned. I can move huge numbers of files in seconds. It’s very reassuring to know that my files are safe in this silent, highly water-resistant, and shock-resistant drive. The form factor is ideal for my on-the-go style of content creation. It’s small, light, and takes little space in my bag, but is not easily misplaced like an SD card (or worse, a micro SD card). It’s easy to put in my pocket when I’m running out the door. When I’m ready to transfer files to my Mac, it connects quickly with the included USB-C to USB-C cable. The cable is short (about 6”), which I’ve seen some people dislike, but for me, it’s perfect. It sits neatly on my desk if I’m home and doesn’t dangle when I’m out in the field. Part of me wishes I got a larger than 1 TB version, but right now, this is working fine for me. I’ve yet to have a job where I needed more space, even after a whole day of shooting stills and video.

From a content-creator perspective, the transfer performance of the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD V3 is built to eliminate the bottleneck between capture and workflow. With advertised read speeds up to 2000MB/s, this drive is capable of moving large batches of media—think thousands of RAW photos or multi-gigabyte 4K video files—in a matter of seconds rather than minutes. In practical terms, SanDisk claims you can transfer around 1,000 high-resolution images in under a minute, which aligns with what you’d expect from a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2–class device when paired with compatible hardware. For photographers and videographers working with high-resolution assets, that level of throughput translates into a noticeably smoother workflow. Importing a full shoot, backing up drone footage, or offloading long-form video becomes less of a stop-and-wait process and more of a seamless handoff between devices. Sustained performance is where this drive stands out compared to older portable SSDs—it’s fast enough to keep up with burst shooting sessions and high-bitrate codecs, meaning fewer slowdowns when transferring large, continuous files instead of small batches. That said, real-world speeds are highly dependent on your setup. To fully realize the near-2GB/s performance, you’ll need a compatible USB interface, cable, and host device—otherwise speeds can drop significantly below peak ratings. Like most external SSDs, write speeds are also typically lower than reads, so massive video dumps may not always hit headline numbers. Still, when paired with the right hardware, the V3 delivers a meaningful step up for creators who regularly move HD and 4K content and need their storage to keep pace with production. I was able to test this drive on both Mac OSX and Windows 11 laptops and Sandisk does include standard items like the competition for security and accessibility. I also appreciate the rugged design and testing to ensure this is your take anywhere storage option.

The SanDisk - Extreme 1TB Portable SSD External USB Type-C SSD is great for a portable SSD, especially when you’re on the go. Right now, I’m currently utilizing it for a portable game storage space for my gaming laptop, but I’ve used it for photos and videos as well for editing, and I can say overall I’m very happy with it. First off it has a nice, sleek and smooth design to it. Making it pleasing to the eye. Second, it’s plug and play basically. You plug it in, download the software, and it’s ready to rock and roll as a backup drive. However, the speeds appear to be fast enough to run games off of it without a problem, so I’m impressed with that. It appears to be made fairly sturdy so if you drop it in theory, it probably would not break. I do not suggest trying that, but it seems like it has a hardened rubber shell for a case. The cable that comes with the drive, though, is super short, we’re talking 6 inches in length. So just be mindful of that, again if you you’re just connecting it to a laptop, not a big deal, but if you’re connecting it to the front of a desktop tower, then you may have a problem.
