Feels well built, has a nice design (I like industrial looking things!), and works as intended. I'm a hobbyist photographer. My plan for this drive was to use it as a "working drive" through a Thunderbolt 3 port of my MacBook Pro. Initially this worked very well, but as the drive started filling with photos I noticed a slight slowdown during my editing. I know it's designed as a backup unit, so I didn't expect miracles. I've since moved my editing to an external SSD (but that's not part of this review). Overall, this drive is great. Some say it's silent, but it's not. My computer sits in the corner of the living room. If it's quiet, I can hear the typical sounds a physical hard drive makes from across the room. If I'm watching TV or have music playing, the sound isn't even noticeable. I use the daisy-chain feature to connect another 6TB G-Drive (USB-C, not Thunderbolt) for backing up this 4TB unit and my MacBook's internal SSD nightly. Everything works as it's supposed to and is extremely transparent. If I need to access either drive, they have an icon on my desktop that I can access just like any other drive in the system. Overall, I'm very happy with the performance of this drive!

Works great, very fast transferring videos and photos.

The drive is EXCELLENT however I WOULD NOT purchase this from BestBuy. It came wrapped in plastic around the box with a label. The box was dented and the drive rattles. I was on support hold for 45 minutes to see if it could be replaced (in a box shipped) vs wrapped in plastic. I would not recommend. Not happy with how they're shipping expensive technology.

The SanDisk Pro G-Drive PRO 4TB is very fast and easy to install. I bought this for my wife's Mac for backup purposes. No issues to date.

SanDisk was purchased by Western Digital in 2016. It is my feeling that WD is slowly letting go of the hardware side of SanDisk's business. SanDisk's informational packet says to download their firmware to one's computer. When going to the website there was no reference to the G-DRIVE PRO. When reaching out to wD I'm told there is nothing to download. And I cannot download any photo documentation to support my contentions.

This was my Time Machine bakcup, running for 3 years and jusr flat-out died! An internal power board has failed. And, while WD has offered a replacement, the risk of sending a drive full of data, is not acceptable. Not trusting the brand, at this point, so SSD options will be looked at next.
