I did a clean install of Windows from a Seagate mechanical drive with the SanDisk Ultra II 480GB on my 3 year old Alienware Aurora R4 PC. Absolutely amazed at the speed of this drive. My boot time when from 4 minutes plus to 20 seconds for Windows 10! The SanDisk optional software is great and easy to use. Just download it from the SanDisk site, but you don't need it at install or to run. Its great for doing periodical diagnostics and maintenance. The install was easy, but be sure if you are installing it into a PC, to buy a 2.5 to 3" drive bay tray mount. You can buy one for under 5-7 dollars. Also, if your PC or notebook is three years or older, make sure you can change the SATA mode in your bios to AHCI before installing or Windows won't install on it or boot.

I bought the ScanDisk Ultra II 240gb Solid State Drive online at Best Buy, to replace the original hard drive in my laptop, after it fell off my bed while I was napping. (Yes, I was lazy and laid my laptop down next to me while it was still running, and I am paying the price...) What got me really interested in the ScanDisk Ultra II was that it listed the benefit of having a "No Wait Boot Up and Shut Down", which was not a specific feature in the the other brand's upgraded models. (Also that it is shock resistant) IT IS SOO MUCH QUICKER THAN THE ORIGINAL DRIVE!!! I am also glad I got the 240gb because I found out during the Windows 8 install, that the operating system wants a minimum of 100gb of space, so the 240gb was the way to go to have some extra storage. After about a month of using it (and of course filling up the drive alreay) my movies still play smoothly, and my downloaded games are just fine. My 2yr old computer now transfers files to my USB Flash Drive about 1/3 faster than before, and I am able to play fairly new games (about 1 yr old) without lag, even though my system is slightly above the minimum requirement for those PC games. I think the SSD has made a big difference in performance and operating speed. I just wish my laptop was new enough to have a SATA III hard drive interface, which would make it run even faster, like a USB 3.0 compared to a regular USB 2.0, but I can tell that there is a big difference compared to the original 1tb drive. I would definitely recommend this SSD for the budget price, and I am NEVER going back to an old fashioned hard drive... unless it is a backup drive. (Oh, and don't tell anyone that I dropped my laptop... Shhhh, Not Cool...)

When purchased, I was not certain what might come with the drive regarding tools. Upon arrival, nothing was included - so, I purchased a SATA / USB connector and found a cloning software (free - Farstone, Drive Clone 11). I connected the drive and started up the cloning software. I was copying a 450 GB drive to the 250 GB SSD; but was only using 120 GB of storage. The software automatically reduced the drive size and commenced the cloning process; this took about 10 hours. Once completed, I swapped out the drive in my laptop and powered it up - VIOLA ...!! Everything worked beautifully - only at a fraction of the time.. DRAMATIC speed increase, not only at startup but also with everything else, including Web access. NOTE: I did get a 'popup' to upgrade the cloning software every time I booted; so I simply removed the software - problem solved. Additional Note: the drive on my laptop actually had 4 partitions .. the software copied them all and retained all the necessary order, size, and settings..

Ultra II line is the best performance for the money you can buy. This one was on sell. I own so many brands of ssd's and sandisk is one of my top picks. Although it is not a benchmark leader, it loads windows faster than any other drive I have. My old dell computer boost up fast.

I replaced the factory default 500 gb conventional drive with this 240 BG SSD and the replacement was a breeze but what followed is what really thrilled me. My notebook with Windows 8.1 now boots up in under 10 seconds flat. It's easy to suspend and wakes up quickly. The time saving is worth every penny paid to upgrade to SSD. The drive is well built and encased that fits in snugly to replace the conventional drive. Fully satisfied with this purchase.

I purchased this drive to speed up an "antique" laptop that was responding very slowly. The installation was painless due to the fact that all I had to do is remove one screw on the bottom of my laptop, swap out the drive and get back to work. I previously had Windows 10 on this laptop, but rebuilt it after installing the drive with Ubuntu Linux. I don't know if Linux, the drive or the combination of both is responsible for the lightning fast boot time, but I really don't care. Bottom line, it's fast. For the price, this was a very good way to put a little more life into an otherwise s l o w machine.

Installed this on my 2011 MacMini (check out iFixit for an installation kit) and it's been a delight. If you're looking to upgrade from an HDD then just DO IT ALREADY. It doesn't bench as well as the Samsung 840/850 EVOs but it's less expensive and when you're comparing to an HDD the speed difference is minuscule. A marvelous upgrade that I highly recommend.

Good size, speed and price point ratio. There might be newer options but this has good features and reliability as well.

Put this in my Dell Inspiron laptop and WOW! Put this in the primary bay and the original spinnng drive in the secondary bay. Had to fiddle around a bit to get Windows happy, but after that it was amazing. Boots in about 2 seconds - not exaggerating!

Huge speed increase vs the mechanical hard drive I upgraded from. Everything from booting, program loading, video rendering, virus scan all run extremely fast.

This product really brought my computer to life. It was really being held back by the mechanical hard drive I was using. My computer's full potential can now be reached.

I purchased the SanDisk to replace oldest HDD on my Lenovo G560. Works great! For OS migration I used Acronis True Image.

My 4 year old Sony Vaio laptop is working like new after I installed a new SSD drive. Would recommend this product.

Only takes 5 seconds to boot up Windows 8.1. Shutdown is even quicker.

Got this to install in a laptop I recently purchased. The install was easy and wow the system loads in no time. Amazing how fast it loads Windows 10.

Its hard not to love any SSD, so unless it doesn't work, I think it should get 5 stars from the average user just because. I am a geek squad customer because I have 3 computers. I bought their annual plan. Since I don't have any hair left to pull out for all the DIY build and repair of my computers over the years, and the overall annual contract cost is incredible, I brought it to them. They installed it, loaded my recovery media I provided, reloaded my Windows 7 OS(best Windows OS ever), For FREE. Yes I paid for the contract but that's the deal! No more late nights repairing computers. Drop it off and let the smarties fix it. I took a computer that was ready to be environmental waste and now its like a brand new machine(this is the second HDD replacement to SSD they have done for me). There wasn't anything wrong with it but the SSD gave me a "new" computer. Once you go solid state you will never go spinny hard drive again.
