This movie looks absolutely amazing on an OLED tv. Together with surround sound, and that's as good as it can get outside of a theater. The sound, man, it is just so amazingly intense. The picture quality was phenomenal. This 4k version did not disappoint.

Private Ryan on bluray was unwatchable. Terrible. Spielberg's fault. The 4k is clear and naturally bright. Color pops off the screen. The Atmos soundtrack is outstanding. Spielberg filmed this movie grainey on purpose. He probably will hate the 4k edition. I love it!

I’m reviewing this for Bestbuy not for the movie. The Steelbook version has only one disc. In the discription says you get 4k and Bluray but theres only one 4k disc no regular bluray. Cmmon Bestbuy! why you do this huh? Future buyers beware on getting the steelbook just get the regular 4k Disc!

Everything about this time in history covered by the events in this epic movie is beyond amazing of hero’s willing to make a difference in keeping our freedom. The storyline is believable and the action is heartfelt. Being a military brat and serving our country helped me appreciate a dark time in our history. This is a movie one could watch over and over. Great actors, editing, and filming makes this classic outlive the generations of time. I honor the courage and believe this movie opened hearts for the soldiers that displayed a overwhelming team effort to keep freedom alive. Many generations will enjoy this film as an achievement in its perfection of what I believe how it was to fight against tyranny.

One of my favorite movies. I have seen it multiple times but watching it again in 4k was great. This is not a sharp picture 4k like other movies but that gives it the quality for the timeline this story would have taken place in. A little grainy but sharp. The sound is amazing.

Let me say that the 4k disc improves upon what was already a stellar bluray. Picture and sound are pushed to a new level, especially the audio.

Saving Private Ryan is an absolute triumph in war cinema, delivering a visceral and deeply moving portrayal of World War II. Directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks in a stellar performance, this film stands as a testament to the human spirit amidst the horrors of combat. The opening sequence alone, depicting the harrowing Normandy beach landing, is a cinematic masterpiece that leaves an indelible impact on the viewer. But beyond the stunning visuals, Saving Private Ryan delves into the complexities of war, exploring themes of sacrifice, camaraderie, and the personal toll of conflict. It's a gripping and gut-wrenching journey that resonates long after the credits roll, solidifying its place as a timeless classic in the annals of cinema.

There have been World War II films in the past in Hollywood but none had moved and stunned me as much as Saving Private Ryan. The opening shot battle scene on D-Day in Omaha Beach should be given an Oscar alone. But this was the overwhelmingly deserved best picture Oscar for 1998. And truly on 4K what is more to say. Great clear picture and such awesome sound that’s delivered minute after minute. A must have for war movie fans or even for those die hard action fans, this is a film to be remembered for years to come.

This isn't a review of the film, but if it were it would be 5 stars as well. This is a review of the differences of the 4K release. Image is noticeably sharper, colors are crisper, brighter and everything is more detailed. Just as you would hope and expect. For me I always like paying attention during low light scenes to see the benefits of HDR aside from the obvious bright and vivid colors. Everything in this film looked amazing.

Some people advise others to close their eyes during the loooong opening scene of Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan. That would be a mistake. Yes, it's carnage, it's horrible, it's relentless, it's bloody, it's random death, it's a portrayal of fear and courage and raw coincidence. But it's also one of the most powerful pieces of cinematography ever filmed.
There are many other scenes that have stayed with me during the years since I last saw this unforgettable film, perhaps Spielberg's best ever. Perhaps the most poignant one that comes immediately to mind is the woman whose sons are all away at war. She's on a remote farm, washing dishes, and thru her window she sees the dust of approaching cars. She goes outside to meet the visitors, tenses as she sees military brass and a chaplain step from the cars, then crumples wordlessly to the worn boards of her front porch as she tries to take in the news: all her boys have been killed, except for one: Private Ryan.
Another related scene, the one that came just before this one, is equally gut-wrenching (and in both scenes, there is no dialogue, just heart-stabbing visuals that are more powerful than any words could have been) as a woman charged with sending out letters of the We Regret to Inform You variety realizes that she's seen three letters with the same address within the past few days, and she takes this terrible proof to her supervisor - and thus is born the search for the surviving son, to bring him home to his momma.
Tom Hanks, with his own persona of morality and honesty, is perfectly cast as the good Captain Miller, a soldier's soldier charged with this onerous task, and of course there is terrible cost.
Saving Private Ryan is the film Spielberg HAD to make. Outstanding, in every possible way.

There is a to real gun battle @ the beginning of this film which was a real event that really happened, it may be to graphic for young children. Over all this is a good movie with good sound & the film was nicely done we have it on blu-ray there is also 4k version over all I find the blu-ray to be very good.
