This is a reasonably priced drive with a lot of space, though 8TB drives are starting to ship if space is everything. I have had no failures in the 6TB drives I own thankfully - I did read that Backblaze (an online backup company with 1000s of hard drives from all the major companies) has reported the Seagate drives they use are failing at a much higher rate than the HGST drives they also use- from memory I want to say it was something like 5% for the Seagate drives (and they were mostly the 1.5 and 3TB models) vs 1% for HGST. Not at such a rate that you shouldn't buy this drive however as it fits a budget. But the rate was high enough that I wouldn't use it as a standalone drive- I use four of them in a Drobo which has drive redundancy (if I loose a drive I don't loose the information because it is spread across multiple drives to protect for at least one drive's failure). I'm glad it has a two year warranty but wish it was a five year warranty like some more expensive drives offer.

I have 2 of these drives in my custom machine. They are great!! Lots of space and very little noise coming from the drives, the fans in the machine are louder then the drives as they spin. I will most likely be adding another 1 or 2 drives to my system in the near future and these will be my first choice.

Not much you can really review on a hard drive these days... it either works or it doesn't. I guess the performance is one thing you can talk about, as well as reliability, but the latter cannot typically be determined in the first 6 months. Performance is decent, and of course the size is great. Just concerned about excessive heat from having 4 platters, which in turn could cause it to crash prematurely...

Using 3 of these in a Synology NAS and have had no trouble after three months. Dependable, quiet, and good price.

I purchased 5 of these drives to install into a Drobo 5D. They work well and are quiet. Performance is reasonably good (although constrained by the Drobo).

$199 for a 6TB drive is the best price around. This drive is fast (sustain 140MB/s), quiet, and has a lot of rooms! I use it on an USB 3 enclosure and it's been rocking! Thank you Best Buy for providing this excellent deal!

It's the biggest HDD out there today. Witht he large cache it doesn't take very long to get what you need off of the drive.

it took Seagate's disc utility to partition the entire disc drives capacity into one size and then format it with xFat, for use with the iMac's ios and MS Windows 7 and 10 for entertainment data. It wasn't easy to figure out until some research confirmed that the Seagate utility should work, and my own experimentation that all the mentioned OS's could write and read xFat.

I use this drive for daily backups of our main server. Backup software runs nightly and takes images of our data partition and archives those images automatically. Drive works flawlessly.

Got this for less than $150 plus tax which was a neat price as far as I was concerned. None of my Seagates have failed so far and they're all years out of warranty already. Partitioned 1TB off and installed Windows in it, leaving the rest for data. Had some minor challenges doing that because it's over 2TB, but got it done and I'm a happy camper. I expect it to be as reliable as all my other Seagate drives. Thanks, BestBuy!

Needed extra space on my computer...this solved it...easy to install, TONS of storage space...no issues so far! Seagate product buyer for over 10 years now and have never had problems.

It shouldn't be your boot drive, what it is good for is backing up your existing hard drive or consolidating them. You pay extra price per terabyte but its well worth it

This isn't for a tank or a race car, but it's adequate for most home uses. Decent mfg warranty as well.

We needed addition space in our NAS, and this fit the bill. It has been performing great.

I recently purchased this hard drive as a storage option for HD movies on my PC. The PC acts as a movies server, delivering movies to other devices in my home. The case I am using does have a limited number of 3.5" bays (six) so more capacity per unit is definitely desirable. This drive fit the bill. It was on sale at the time of purchase at Best Buy, and the price of this drive gave it the best price/gb ration out of any of the HDD available. So not only did this drive offer the most GB storage per single unit, it also cost less per gigabyte than two 3tb drives or a 4tb drive etc. On the actually functionality of the drive. Well, it is a storage HDD, and I have used it to store HD copies of TV shows and movies. When I call them up to be played, I have not noticed any data rate issues. In fact, when I was copying my programs from several smaller drives to this one, I noticed the drive could handle sustained writes at over 100 mB/s from multiple sources simultaneously. The solid RPM of this drive coupled with a higher platter density allows this drive to deliver remarkable sustained transfer rates. Good enough to stream several HD files simultaneously. I could not be happier.

Fantastic amount of space. Have not had any issues with it.

I needed a large hard drive and didn't want an external drive so this one fit the bill and was super easy to set up. With all my videos and pictures it won't take long to fill up and then i'll add another one just like it. I've only had it for a short while but no problems.

I use this primarily as a media storage device (audio and video files). For that role, it works perfectly fine. Copying large amounts of data to or from the device is not particularly fast, but since I only had to copy onto it once to get my library on there, I can live with that.
