4-month old disk has died.

By October it stopped appearing on my Mac desktop and I almost brought it in. Then it seemed fine. Now, In January 2021 my disc rekpair program is saying to back up everything on the disk. Too late, because it's not showing up on the desktop and I can't mount it. This is very sad! I bought another one in August as a "Time Machine" backup disk and it seems to be working fine. One month guarantee does not seem like enough time for a disk to go bad.

it freezes system on regular basis

WD or seagate. i already owned 1 TB WD product so i tried different one. regret my decision. it now consistently freezes my system and makes me error check it. i read online some people lost their data within 3 months. do not buy. go for WD or low capacity one (like 1TB or 2TB)

Slow

runs awfully hot
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doing a large backup, this box gets uncomfortably warm -- hot enough that I ended up giving it an extended pause in the middle of the backup in order to cool down. This makes the use of a plastic case look like a poor choice, and doesn't bode well for how many years we can expect it to be reliable. Also, as others have mentioned, the online product registration tries to force you to download bloatware and consent to spam. (At least with the bloatware you can download it and delete it without installing.)
