At least it died still under warranty...

Yeah so I had this as a secondary drive attached to my file server - the one that didn't see much use, and was used as a mirror for the first.
About 18mos into the life of the server, the server went belly-up. Both drives (the other a Seagate Backup Plus Hub) showed just fine in SMART, so I reinstalled the server and put it all back online.
Two months after that, this one just stopped powering on. The wall-wart is fine, I tested with a multimeter, but the drive itself is now an expensive paperweight. Seagate wants me to run "SeaTools" to diagnose it, but I'm pretty sure I'd need to turn it on to do that.
At least Seagate offers a warranty long enough to cover it, although I had to foot the bill to return it myself.
Contrast to the ethernet-capable WD "Mybook" that I've had running for YEARS with no ill effects.
I never was a HD brand zealot, but I'm definitely leaning against seagate now.
