I like this external hard drive.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this 5 terabyte portable Seagate external hard drive because it had the largest storage capacity in a portable external hard drive that I could find. That is the initial reason. I already made the decision that I do not want any more electronics that take up too much space. I want small electronics. My very first portable external hard drive was actually a 100 gigabyte aluminum Seagate and I am still using it to this day. It was one of the very first one's they made I think, and despite being well over 10 years old, it is still going strong. They make quality products. This external is supposed to be 5 terabytes but of course it is more like 4 terabytes and change. It has a very fast transfer speed and it takes up little space. It has a small footprint. When I buy externals I always format them and then to make sure they are not a lemon I put some initial information on them and then I swap them out between computers and see how they perform. I have found that most of the time if an external is a lemon it happens right away. So I only put a small amount of information on one and then see how it works. And of course I keep the copy of the original data to make sure it is functioning fine. I bought the extended warranty for this and I recommend that for anyone that has floors that are tile as these electronics are delicate. This thing is fast and does not bog down even my cheap laptop computer when transferring data.

Fast, Quiet, Cool
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Make sure to do a chkdsk /r to fix any issues before using it --- it takes approximately 19 hours to run and no drive maker today does this at the factory; if they did, the price of the drives would probably increase by $20/unit because they would need to plug the millions of drives they manufacture individually into computers and run chkdsk. Also, look at this video on how to increase the speed of your drive -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=4Sae9wL_008 The reason they set the drive to a SLOW default speed is so you can quickly unplug it without using the Safely Remove Hardware notification icon. After you change the setting per the video, the drive is rocket fast. The only time it slowed down is when I copied 1 folder with 40,000 small files to it. I like this drive so much that I plan to purchase another one.

5TB? Heck YEA :)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I strongly recommend cleaning up your computer and store it on an external drive for so many reasons. One being that if you're unlucky like me and your computer 'fries' than you know the rest. That happened many years ago and I can't forgive myself for not being proactive. I travel a lot and love the convenience of being able to carry it in my purse. Aside of the fact that this is so easy to use I love it that I don't have to bring my laptop or (desktop?) with me. Let me just say that the price was also very reasonable and wasn't able to find it anywhere else, most stores carry the 3TB and under. Sorry Best Buy for some reason I couldn't post the pics (site crashed a few times)

Perfect and very portable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the last portable 5TB on the website and am I happy about that...holds alot of entertainment content (as well as music) . It reads the stuff on it very fast as well so you don't see the "spinning wheel" of death for long while you wait for things to load...very portable as well just the USB cable and you're good to go (no brick to plug in).

I like this external hard drive 2.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this external hard drive. I got tired of bulky electronics so I bought one of these some time ago. Well as of this review this review is for number four. I now own four of these and they have operated flawlessly. They have a very fast transfer rate from the computer to the external hard drive. I know there are ways to speed them up even further but I personally choose not too. I like the small foot print. I wish they had even more storage space. I can hardly wait until Seagate makes them with even a larger storage space. I recommend that people buy these when they go on sale. I have been buying them for awhile now and the price has gone down considerably. Buy them when they are just over $100.00. Also make sure and price match as competitors have them cheaper sometimes. Best Buy has been very good with me concerning this. I want to make sure that people know when I have two of these plugged into my laptop one on either side and transfer data from one drive to another through my laptop that the data transfers very, very slowly. I generally start them up and make sure the laptop is on battery back up and let them go. I have never had a problem with transferring data at all though. Everything transfers well. I strictly use these drives for storage and that is about it. Finally, they say they are 5 terabytes but they are more like 4 and change. More like 4.5 or something like that. I will keep people updated on here. I have two of these that are almost out of warranty and that will be the true test on how long they will last or how well they are made when the warranty runs out.

Great drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a computer drive die on me taking with it a batch of family photos and files. Never again! I now back up important info keeping my computer drive uncluttered and files in a safe place. The Seagate drives are small, fast and hold a tone of info (5TB is amazing). We use these at work and I’ve never had one go bad or cause trouble. I highly recommend for your storage needs!

Asked by JPO50KEN.
