So we use these small lightweight drives for that purpose. Raw 4K files get dumped to these drives while in the field and then brought back to dump to master edit drives. Perfect!

Seagate - Backup Plus Slim 2 TB

So, I just had to go out and get another one. I use it on my MAC for doing my Time Machine backups. It works perfectly. You can also use it with Windows.

It does not have an external power switch though. I bought it to add to my DVR so I could throw movies on there, it's only about a month old, so far so good though. Much faster than my old external hd.
