Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Need a fast, large drive that looks great? Look no further than this handy dandy drive. Seagate is reliable too, so you know it'll last a good time.

Worked perfectly as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this drive to start backing up our 1 year old iMac using Time Machine. Originally I thought about the 2TB "Slim" product, but wanted more room for growth, so we opted for this 4TB drive. The case is larger for sure, but the design is very elegant, sleek and low profile for our home office furniture - which is also very dark wood. I saw one reviewer say it was large and ugly; I could not disagree more - the design is very cool.

2nd Seagate Drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to replace my external hard drive with something bigger for all the files I currently have plus my Seagate FreeAgent Drive 2TB was slowly dying. 2TB wasn't enough for me and I had to get something bigger I wanted a 3TB but when I saw this drive was on sale for $20.00 less than the original price. That's a good amount of saving and I had to have it. Setup was a little lagging for me but once I got the hang of it I backed up my laptop and finally did a time machine backup as well. The corners on this drive is sharp for some reason I like the sleek black glossy finish as well. This is the first time I've have had a horizontal stand.

Good hard drive but be careful!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So Bought this hard drive last Christmas (2014) and had it plugged into my Xbox One for extra storage. Was wonderful, fast, lots of storage Absolutely great! Until while I was packing up my console and hard drive to move I dropped it less than a foot away from my soft carpeted floor. Didn't think anything on it except thank god it wasn't from any higher. Got to my destination and found it did not work and all data on it was gone. ( Note: I've had a 1tb , same company, fall from my back pack from 3ft and land on a hard floor and still worked.) it tried to power on made a sound and that was the end of it. I would absolutely recommend it as a stationary hard drive but extreme caution is needed for transport purposes.

Quiet and lots of space
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using the HDD for a couple of weeks now. It is quiet and fast if you connect it to a USB 3 port. I would average speed when connected to a USB 2 port. Great price at the tie of purchase for the amount of space.

Nice but some issues with backup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this backup because my old backup was too small for the new computer. For the most part the backups have been working fine but occasionally I get a message that it failed. I also wanted this as a backup for my phones and other computers since it said I could do that through our network. That hasn't been quite as successful or easy to do.

Great for the $ and storage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My older internal seagate 3TB HD, came up with a RAW file format, after my computer BSOD! After losing a few months of photo images I was no longer able to recover with 3rd party software, I bought two of these at this decent price point of $149. I had some backups of backups, but now with 4TB, I will have a enough storage on one 4TB drive to just simply make a double of it, instead of having files scattered, due to lack of storage space

Great product for a great price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am using this hard drive as external storage for my Xbox One. Set up is quick. This should give me plenty of space for games and DLC for a long time to come.

Thought it would be better than it is
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this big hard drive as I have lots of huge files to back up in my illustration business. I got the Seagate because I always thought this was a good company. The problem I am having is this thing refuses to allow large amount of data (over 200 gigs) without crashing. And once it crashes you have to go back and spend too much time trying to find what files were copied over and which ones were not. So, as a work-around, now i just drag over small amounts of files so the thing won't get overwhelmed. This is a significant waste of my time! If this hard drive cannot handle big transfers, this would be nice to know, and since the thing came with no documentation, I guess it's all trial and error. I have thought about returning it, but I can't face yet another trip to Best Buy...

Seagate found another way to max their profits
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I put one of these HD's in service and within 6 months it was a coaster. Seagates response was that they would sell me their software for $100.00, and it may retrieve my lost data but no guarantee on that. My second option was to sent it to them and for roughly $400.00 or more they may be able to recover my data. Check their Facebook page. Many people post the same issue and Seagate removes the post rather quickly. Don't trust the reviews.

great add on storage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My collection of TV seasons was suddenly more than a 2TB drive could handle. Got this drive, transferred the data, and now have double my previous capacity for TV shows on the media server
