The sale price attracted me to this product but the speed and ease of use got me hooked. I originally wanted to get a more compact hard drive but when I saw the price for a 5 Terabyte I had to get it. I still use it in a portable manner even though it is a bit bulkier than the compact ones. This one is very versatile.

Works like a charm with Windows and Mac. The best part : plug and play, no installation required.

I was a little apprehensive when I bought this drive. It had a huge capacity (5TB) but was still way cheaper than some drives of less size....why? Regardless, I decided to go for it and couldn't be happier. Plugged it in and started using it straight away. It is fast, fast and (did I mention?) fast. A good purchase!!!

My computer was getting overloaded with data and audio files. After offloading them to this device, my computer is faster and the device's quick access speed allows for use and quick retrieval. An excellent device for my backup too. No issues at all.

This is a great external hard drive with a tremendous amount of storage (5 TB) and fast transfer rates given the USB 3.0 interface. I believe I picked it up on sale too, so the price was very reasonable. I suspect, given the price (but I do not know for sure), that the drive itself is a 5400, not a 7200, rpm drive. If that is the case, a 7200 drive would be faster for sustained transfers of large files (and would still have plenty of overhead room given the bandwidth available in the USB 3.0 interface), but I suppose one does not buy a 5 TB external drive for speed... Sheer storage space is the name of the game with this drive and I have absolutely no complaints in that regard.

Bought this unit to back up some external Raid 0 arrays. Put 4 TB on the backup drive so far. Been running it for a month with no problems. USB 3.0 connection makes for nice high speed data transfers. Comes with its own specific USB 3.0 drive cable. I plan on buying some more of these. Good value for the money.

This is a good, reliable harddrive. Got it on sale for a good price. It works as advertised.

I bought this to use to backup my WD My Coud. I was worried about compatability because on forums people had said certain usb drives didn't work. I just took it out, plugged it in, My Cloud recognized it and it functions as it should. I can't review its stand alone features, but works great for what I needed

I really like Seagate external hard drives for backing up and storing digital items (movies, photos, documents, etc). This is the biggest one I have gotten over the years, but it works fine (I've been using it for more than a month) and I expect it to be as good as the other ones I have bought previously.

Our previous external hard drive decided to go bad after several years. After doing a lot of research and talking to the Best Buy staff I went with this product. Very simple to use and handles my automatic back ups with out a problem.

I use these constantly. 5Tb is a good size and it's a good price right now. Anything higher and the price is too much. I have purchased at least 12 of these in the past year. I use them to back up my projects as well as an additional backup at my client's office. Great speed and sturdy. I usually keep them in their box while traveling. I just wish USB.03 plugs were more sturdy. I just don't like the design.

I've used Seagate almost exclusively for my backup needs over the years, and have never been disappointed. My storage needs have begun to outstrip my capacity, which is why I've moved up to the 5TB, Simple to set up, and intuitive, though I doubt I'll ever use the social network backup capabilities.

The drive works well with both Windows and Mac files. I use it for backup as well as a boot drive for Windows (with Parallels installed on my Mac). I received conflicting answers from the Geek Squad and Microsoft Tech Support as to whether I could do that, but it does work with my hardware.

We use this drive to backup our WD Mycloud drive off site. As of 1-8-2015 we have had zero issues. Setup was extremely easy. Access is speedy when plugged into the USB 3.0 port on the router. I would recommend this product to anyone needing to backup an image of a primary network storage device.

We are actually using this item as extra storage for the Xbox one. After we set it up the Xbox one showed an additional 5 T of storage! We also have another one we backed up the PC with.

The only con to this drive is that it does disconnect from the computer when not in use. Simply unplug the power cord and plug back in and your back in business. The size is incredible. AND the speed is amazing. It is actually faster than one of my internal hard drives. Love this drive!
