I picked this up for use with my Xbox One. I purchase a lot of games and movies so this was the best option for the price. Has performed great since I hooked it up so no complaints here.

So far this thing is as it says. It's big (in storage size), quiet and quick. It works awesome. I have other ones from seagate (2TB) and it is slightly taller. But it is awesome.

Hooked this up to our late 2013 iMac and were rolling in minutes. My wife is a photographer and we need more storage space. This does the trick. Easy set up and easy to use.

Pros: Inexpensive USB 3.0 storage, Runs cool and quiet. Cons: Kinda slow, not as fast as the USB 3.0 port can go. Best for unattended backups. Wouldn't recommend using as a program drive.

A large capacity drive which I partitioned on a Mac for Time Machine and two other partitions for various backup functions. It is functioning as expected at this time.

In an age where more and more of our records are completely digital, it is crazy not to make backups of your data. Consider the Seagate 4TB Backup Plus External Hard Drive as a part of your DR strategy. Out of the box you get the 4TB drive, power brick, USB 3.0 cable and a quick-start guide. The case is made of hard plastic with sharp edging and corners so portability is not it's primary function - it is meant to sit on your desktop. Also it does not have an on/off switch, so it's always ready to perform a backup. In use I found the drive to be quiet with a fast data transfer. It does dissipates heat well even after heavy use. I would recommend this drive to anyone who is looking for a solid backup/DR drive. Large capacity, low heat, high transfer rate and exceptional price point make the purchase of this drive a no-brainer.

This is my second drive,.. been using the first for over 6 months. These drives work great,.. I use them as storage for a Plex Media Server. Very pleased with my purchase!

i bought this hard drive to store my back up movies and videos, so far it works great no problems plus the price was good as well. I have used seagate hard drives in the past and they have all worked flawlessly, and are still working today.

I bought this hard drive in order to expand storage on the Xbox One, and it works GREAT! Xbox.com easily told you how to format the drive for use with the system. The only downfall was that you need to disable quick start up on the game system in order for the external drive to shut down completely after system use. A small price to pay really seeing the the 500gb drives of the new systems fill up so quickly considering mandatory installs and all updates and/or DLC content. Great option!

Great for 500gb consoles. With all the games I bought this year and will buy in the future now I can not worry about having no space. Easy to transfer and save.

I bought this to back up all my photos and videos. So far it work great, really quite compared to my old 1T. Love it so far, so much room to store video and music.

So far, Seagate drives have yet to let me down. This model offers plenty of storage for a very good price. They are great backup drives. Just be sure to buy two.

This is a very easy set up and easy to use and is very quite and does not take up any space. Simple plug and play

I have purchased two of these drives from Best Buy in the 5TB size. I highly recommend that one use Seagate's SeaTools to test/burn-in this drive before committing any non-redundant data to it. When you get it home, Google "SeaTools," download and install the program, and under the "Basic Test" menu run a "Short Drive Self-Test." If this passes, run the "Short Generic" test, then the "Long Generic." The short doesn't take long, but the long test takes about 2 days (44+ hours) to run on a USB 3.0 port according to my experience. This is where my first drive failed after passing the first two tests. The "Fix All" options would not complete (fast is a reallocation of bad sectors and long is a full surface scan), and the drive would fail in the middle of copying data. I returned it, and Best Buy exchanged it for another off the shelf no question asked. This is exactly why I do not buy the same thing for a lower price online. Short of an additional trip to the store (which I don't mind at all), the hassle factor is low and Best Buy's value added service is worth the extra money in my opinion. Anyway, the replacement passed all the tests and has been working fine since - as has the second one I bought when the first filled up. I am now ready for my third. One other thing. These drive enclosures are not really designed well (function follows form) and do not dissipate heat effectively in their native position with the blue side down. The only vents in this model are in the rear where the cables plug in and on the bottom (blue) side, and since the enclosure is fanless, it relies on conduction with the aluminum ESD/Heat shield and convection with the environment to transfer heat. It follows then that the best position for this enclosure - short of heroic efforts to ventilate it - is standing it up on end with the cables facing up toward the ceiling and putting it as low to the floor as is reasonable. My tests have shown that temperatures are lower (8-10 degrees Fahrenheit) in this position than they are while laying flat as was intended. You can check this yourself via the "Drive Information" option also located under the "Basic Test" menu option in SeaTools. In conclusion, it is my opinion that this disk+enclosure is as good as it gets off-the-shelf and in this price range as long as you take some simple precautions by reducing your risks with pre-testing, environmental temperature control, and redundancy - meaning test the drive before you put data on it, keep it cool, and don't put data that you cannot afford to lose on just one drive. 5 stars for a great product minus 1 star for the uncertainty of a DOA or premature failure after my experience of a 33% (1-in-3) failure rate.

Bought this for photo and video storage for my business. It was a great price and will hold everything I need it to. It was easy to set up and to use.

Easy to set up. Set it and forget about it. I store a lot of big photo files and this has the capacity to back up everything with plenty of space to spare.
