Excellent back up drive at an excellent price. Pro- Inexpensive Reliable Cons- Not portable (needs a power source)

I thought the value was excellent for the amount of storage. It takes up a small amount of desk space. It works great!

Soooo cheap! A great drive if you need to back up your files and have space to add more later, very quiet drive but no power switch, but its a great price for the amount of space.

Easy to use and the price was good. I looked at a lot of reviews. All had 4 to 5 stars. So far it's been great.

The Seagate Backup Plus Desktop is capacious, fast, flexible, and affordable.

Drive worked great but after a few months the drive would not connect to my Mac. After contacting Seagate they explained how I can fix it by reformatting it. Anyway large drive 5TB is great. The other problem and this is IMPORTANT if I had known this I may not have purchased this YOU HAVE TO PLUG IT IN TO AN AC WALL OUTLIT TO WORK, it WILL NOT work unless plugged in. This is not the ideal drive to on the go laptop workers.

I just received this unit about a week ago. This is replacing a 2TB Seagate Back Up Plus Slim that is full. The price on this was about the same as the 4TB Slim version, and since a little space wasn't that important to me, I went with the extra storage. Set up on these units are very easy and I am not a techie. I can get around on the computer and do most tasks but not a high level tech. The problem you face if you are replacing a slim unit is that the software on the slim is considered an upgraded version so you need to delete the old version of Seagate Dashboard. Your system will block this "older" version from downloading. Since I was deleting the software for Seagate, I deleted the Lyve software as well. Once deleted, I was able to install in minutes. Software walks you through installation. In case you are interested in the Lyve photo storage, it is going away the beginning of the year so don't bother installing it on your other devices unless you want to send all your photos from phones, tablets, laptops, pc, etc to one area easily and then you can export to a storage device easily and quickly. We now have over 13k photos and videos from trips on one device so that was easy. The initial backup from my pc took overnight but is now set for continuous back up. Highly recommend. This box isn't that big, yes the slim is smaller but if you have a few inches near your system this is priced right. Good luck!!!

I purchased 2 of these drives during tax free week at Best Buy. First of all the hard drive itself looks good and the software is even better. It was easy to setup the cloud feature. For MAC users don't forget to install the Paragon software from the seagate website in order to write data to the drive. If you don't, you won't be able to save anything. I would definitely buy more this is perfect to backup my apple products as well as my mac. Very happy.

With the size of this hard drive I won't need to buy another one for quite a while. It performes flawlessly.

Has a lot of storage for a good price, and is fairly portable. Runs quietly, and have had no problems.

Wanted to upgrade my 2TB drive to 5TB due to my growing digital movie collection. Couldn't beat the price of this drive. Had to format it for my Mac, but after that it worked perfectly! Syncs great with iTunes and with USB 3.0 a 2GB file copies over in less than 10 seconds.

I originally bought a 1 TB Seagate Backup Plus Slim, but it was not large enough to store the data recovery being done, so I returned it unopened for this Seagate Backup Plus Desktop 5 TB. The price difference was not considerable, and I got 5 times the storage. I only needed a little less than 3 TB, but the price was so good, I went for the 5 TB and will have room to spare. Plus CNet reviews were good for this product.

I use Time Machine for backing up my iMac. I have a number of external drives with quite a lot of important data; I had a 4Tb drive which was doing a good job of storing my backups, but it ran out of space! I was fortunate enough to find the Seagate 5Tb drive on sale. It got me over this hump; I was looking for at least 6TB, but couldn't find one locally. This one is made for a mac, so everything was easy setting it up. So far it is performing admirably.

I partitioned this for Mac and windows without a problem and use this as a backup for all of my computers. So far so good, great hard drive for the price.

This has a ton of storage and the price is pretty fantastic. It is very easy to setup and use.
