This the second Seagate external drive that I have owned and I chose this one because of the reliability of the one I have had for a few years, and because it has a small footprint and a huge capacity (8TB). Install and setup is a breeze. The only thing I would like to see Seagate add to their drives is password protection, such as the WD external drives have.

I've switched to SSD almost everywhere but needed a larger drive for backups and archives. This has a lot of space and is actually pretty fast for a spinning drive. The front ports are fast USB 3.0 as a bonus.

Purchased this because i wanted the white one as it seems to match better with the Mac system. I also have the black unit for my windows system. Either way - you can use any of the systems for windows or mac if you are willing to format them and partition them up as needed. Software can be download online for either one. Anyhow, Needed the 8TB so i can keep variations in history. Works great and have been using Seagate backup for years without issues. Would recommend. Would like to see a SSD option that runs on USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) as this could be a much improved speed. Overall though very happy with purchase.

Great large sized drive to backup my computer and all the large files for my photography. I've had it for about a year and a half now and it's never given me any issues or hiccups. It's a good, physically small, sized drive with a LOT of storage space that takes up minimal space on the desktop to keep plugged in, all the time. It's a little on the pricey side, but I think it's come down a little since I bought it.

I bought this drive to use as an Apple Time Machine drive and to off load my Photos Library. After configuring my Photos library to live on this drive and partitioning for a Time Machine backup, the Seagate blends very well with my setup. The only issue is that it's a bit noisy, it's not terribly loud, but when the room is quiet I can hear it. It's a little distracting since my computer is in my bedroom. All Hard drives have some motor noise, so it's not the end of the world. The convenience of the USB ports on the front more than makes up for it. One star off because of the noise and unwieldy power plug.

I like this external drive because of its large capacity and ease of use. I use it to back-up my computers. USB3 allows for fast transfers. Also got it on sale so it was a good deal.

I'm backing up my 1 Tb laptop drive now and this drive is fast! I got the drive as part of Black Friday, so the price for 8 Tb was great! The Seagate dashboard is very easy to use.

If your a digital Geek Like Me??..this is Perfect!!! I love the 2 front USB inputs where I add my other HDD's . And as always I don't use the Software HDD's come w/but Direct Drag n Drop / Cut and Paste. . Every Time I need one this model will be my Choice!!!

Greta item, I have had it for a little over a month and I used it as an external HDD for my Xbox one and for that it works flawlessly. I have been able to move my games over to it without fail and it plays the games like they were on the Xbox itself. My prior HDD failed after a week and I had to return it, but this one is still going strong.

Bought this drive due to the additional USB ports. It is fast, reliable and there is plenty of space.

In an attempt to lessen the amount of external drives I was using with my iMac, I embarked on the "fun" task of consolidating tons of files from three WD MyBook drives. Took 2 days but it was worth it. I feel that the USB load on the power supply is much less. The 8TB capacity is more than enough and the USB 3 transfer speeds are adequate for most everyday tasks. Extra bonus: the 2 USB ports on the front of the drive. Great for charging wireless accessories, etc. Overall, a good purchase. Very satisfied.

Easy to use. Have LOTS of storage! Doesn't take up a lot of room on my desk.

I have multi-TB data storage requirements. I now have two of these drives running on my PC to help meet those requirements. As my needs expand, I will likely purchase another one. They never let me down!

Apple already makes setting up time Machine a snap, and there is no real reason to get an external hard drive made especially for Macs. However, I bought this bc it was the same price as a standard one and already formatted. So hey! It works well, was easy to set up, and is twice the storage as my previous one, and was the best price on the web.

I got this hard drive to insure that was covered as I move in to 4k. This format needs lots of space for the information and detail it gives so I got this drive to stay ahead of the game.

I store a lot of phographs in both jpg and raw formats. The previous 2 years, I bought 5 TB drives, but bumped it up to 8 TB this year. I had it several weeks, and no problems, and over 2 TB of data is on the drive.

This hard drive is great for storing information on so that it can be opened on more than one computer that a person may own. The Hard drive hub is great to have for a desktop or laptop with it taking up a USB port and it having on the front of the hard drive 2 additional USB ports to make up for the drive being plugged in continuously. Best chose that I choose for an external hard drive that does not have the cloud computing in it for use.

As an avid nature explorer who shoots a lot of photos and video I needed an effective method of organizing, storing and backing up terabytes of media dating back to 2000 and before. Two of these work well, one for working files, one archiving the same files. By having two USB 3 ports I can also plug older smaller capacity drives in and move files directly to this drive. Slow rural Internet speeds prohibit "Cloud Storage".

I bought this drive because the 6TB drive I have on my xbox one is full. This will keep me in the clear for another few years. This is an identical drive to the seagate game hub. I just wanted one that was closer to the color of my One X. Works good so far an has plenty of storage.
