This was the second one i purchased, but ended up returning it unopened (instead bought an internal SATA HD). The first one is still running fine, no excessive noise noticed. I use it and other USB drives for backups and offsite rotation (disaster recovery standard). I always stick with Seagate, WD, or LaCie USB drives.

Love the size, LOVE the hub. Hate the backup software. One drive went bad -- I've had trouble with other Seagate drives. Price was great (Black Friday). I want 2 more 8T drives and will buy WD, for the reliability and hoping the backup software is better.

Got it and it'd decent size and easy to use. Got it for photography picture storage

The product seems durable and relatively cheap for an 8TB. It is not a portable drive and needs power to run.

I have so many pictures and videos that I needed something to finally archive them. In this day and age, I have been using the cloud to hold my pictures, but on my computer they were spread across hard drives. This beast allowed me to sort them out and put them away!

This is fulfilling my backup needs I have the 1.5, 3, 5 and now the 8tb. all Seagate and is reliable from over 10 years of backing up to Seagate drives. got it mainly for the extra ports but have not hooked them up yet as I already have a powered expansion usb multiplier

Excellent - Would Buy Again! Great Buying Experience and Quality for the money

Have a bunch of their HD's, 5TB ones and 8TB ones. They are great. Sometimes the one usb cord gets loose from the back but it happened only to one of them. Otherwise, quick, always works and so far (about 1-2 years later) they are all still great.

Bought this during holiday season with Visa discount. I am very happy for purchasing this hard drive. File transfers are happening real quick, additional port for adding other storage devices is bonus. Only negative thing is the external power adapter.

I'll keep this short and sweet. First let's talk price, just shy over 200 and I get 8TB? That's insane! Second is setup, super easy, pretty much plug and play. Last but not least, dual USB charging? Get out of town, but snag one of these before you do!!!

With technology changing and music and movies switching over form discs to downloading, I need to back up all of my work and entertainment media. The Seagate 8tb external desktop hard drive works great with Apple's Time Machine!

Huge storage that I can backup all my digital pictures,video files that I took since 1996. It is quiet with minimal vibration. I have no problem to use with my Windows 7 & Windows 10 computers.

I set this drive up on my iMac. Initially I set this drive up for Mac's Time Machine (back-up) program. Set-up was extremely simple and intuitive. I edit video for a living and soon realized how fast this was as well as reliable. Very quiet too.

Wow, Xbox games can really chew up space. Good thing BB offers this handy little add-on to add more game storage! PS - BB online price matched the lowest price from a competitor. So go find those deals and get you one of these!

Needed extra capacity, and backup, this fit the bill perfectly. Added bonus, I can extra external drives with the integrated USB 3 hub. Can save laptop, cell phone and tablet backups all with 1 device. Makes for a very useful addition!

Excellent drive that works flawlessly. I have an 8TB RAID on my 5K iMac for video editing, and this drive is the Time Machine backup for the RAID. These are amazing times when we can a great drive of this capacity for less than $300!

Works perfectly as a large backup drive. having the additional USB ports is definitely a bonus. aesthetically pleasing on a desktop and handy for phone charging or quickly booting up/transferring files to a mobile or flash drive.

Seems to work ok so far. Not sure the USB ports are 3.0 though. Need to test more.

It was easy to ise and didnt have ro format it at all and then plugged it up to another systwm and was able to pull everything up and use and edit them
