You can't go wrong with Seagate. I have about four Seagate external HDs and all my internal drives are Seagate too- I put my pc together. 8 TB, a lot of space, I am actually using this one to back up everything I have in my other five HDs. This one I particularly like because it allows connection of two USB devices through a hub, which makes it easier to connect the other HDs in case you run out of ports in the PC.

Since I do take the images in the /raw/ format, I needed a hard drive that would be able to hold the backup of all the images that I'm taking nowadays, as well as provide me a way to also catalog them by location, event, date taken, etc. This drive fits the bill (since the smaller drives, well .. I have quite a number of them and I have to actually go through several drives in order to find x .. so this drive makes it far more convenient to do the quick sort and search ..

I think this external drive is just missing two things: 1- An eSATA port, for computers which lack USB 3.0 ports. 2- Though this enclosure contains an 8TB Seagate Archive drive, which are rated for 24/7 operation in addition to the fact that this drive powers down as soon as it's ejected from the PC. However I don't backup my terrabytes worth of data periodically, just weekly. So I don't need this drive spinning up every time I power up my PC only for a minute till I eject it in the operating system. So most of the time I have the power plug disconnected and cable tied to the USB cable, for easy reconnects. 8TB is too big for one partition in my humble opinion. So I partitioned it into 8 partitions of different filesystems so that I can use CloneZilla (a free open source hard drive cloning software) to clone multiple hard drives of multiple workstations.

Nice external drive. Gives me a ton of space for my videos. Makes a hub for other drives. Works well.

Purchased from April 2017, as of now, still works, no bad clusters so far, it really depends on how much hours you put on it, most of the time i set the PC to turn of hard drives every 5 minutes of no activity! Solid build, do like the additional frontal USB 3.0 hub for more stuff to plugin. I find Seagate brands to be reliable and cheaper.

I've owned this hard drive for a couple of months now and so far am impressed. In the Past, I've always bought Western Digital My Book drives but after having to replace a new My Book Duo TWICE I decided to give this Seagate a try. I really liked the 2 USB ports in the front that can be used as a powered HUB. It's fast also when using USB 3. The only caveat is it's NOISY.

Needed more space and very convient with 2 USB ports built in the front.

This is a great storage device with a large capacity at a great price.

No complaints. I built a desktop pc in 2010 with four 2-TB HDs. Now, seven years later I have a USB drive that holds 8-TB of data. Kurayzee, isn't it? The unit is not mini size, but it's just fine and I'm satisfied with it so far. "I would recommend this to a friend" Yes/No" Uhm, I'm going to buy at least one more for myself, so Yes, I'd recommend it.

Great backup drive for Windows server. Fast and lots of storage.

Bought to replace a 500GB Seagate ext drive (still running) but close to max capacity. Plugged 8TB right in, then copied all my files from 500GB to 8TB, took couple hours. Changed drive letters so new 8TB had same path as old 500GB. Then manually had to tell Carbonite to back it up, that took 5+ hours. Very quiet!

Easy to use, large space, elequent. Pricy but good value.

Plenty of hard drives out there but none without hub/charging capabilities. Can both daisy-chain and charge - from the Seagate website: each USB Type A port outputs up to 1.5 Amps / 5 volts, so enough to charge many devices (phones and tablets). Worth it when on sale ($150ish or lower)
