Complicated to use with Mac. I had to call Seagate support and they helped me set it up. However, I still haven't figured out how to restore the backup files, luckily I haven't had to use it yet. I recommend buying a backup disk/program specifically made for Mac.

I ended up losing a lot of data and files in the transfer some of which was my fault. I'm a novice. However I was led to believe that my files were being saved. All I got was photos. Then it was too late.

Lousy customer service & the factory installed software does not self load which makes for a device that is not nearly as easy to use as it should & could be.

I like the Samsung galaxy 5s very much. I found it easy to use.

Had to back up saved programming and transfer it from old Dish dvr to new Dish dvr. I carefully followed all directions and it never transferred any programming onto the hard drive.

I tried to load it on my pc and it took forever...once loaded i tried to transfer files from Win. XP it did not work and won't work again at all on another pc that has win. Vista

I was in a hurry when I ran in and grabbed it, I was told it could be used with cloud & normal drag and drop, wrong.

Does not work on my ps3. Needed a hard drive that works for ps3.

My rating would have been lower except that customer service answered my calls within a couple minutes and tried really hard to resolve my issues. After backing up my files, I tried to restore one and could not find it on the Seagate backup. Seven years ago I somehow accessed a folder that pointed to a "system folder" containing my files. Even though I could create, delete, modify and access the files in this folder Seagate's software did not back it up. All of my really important files were in this folder. I solved my problem by copying all these files to another folder that Seagate recognized. I experienced extremely long times to recover files. The software will not recover files or folders while a backup is in progress or paused. This would not be a problem if the software would warn the user that a backup is in progress. I also had a recent "not responding" issue. I disconnected the drive from my PC and was able to access the software. I suggest that anyone should try to access some files from several different folders to assure that they have been backed up. I am using Windows Vista. If I have any more problems I am going to get another backup program and either modify this review if possible or write another with the lowest rating.

I just got this drive and it small and sleak compare to other drives. Plenty of storage with 500GB and the price is very reasonable.

I got a great deal on this product for the time I bought it, it was simple to set up and has been a fantastic tool between my computer and my smart TV. Then my coworker moved into a new house, with no cable for the next month... I loaded this up with kids movies (he has 3) and some TV and it made such a huge difference for his family that he bought an identical drive so we could swap back and forth to get him new content. So yeah, I would recommend this to a friend lol.

Back in the time when laptops did not come with anything larger than 4 GB's of storage I bought one of these. It's great. Saved all my monster load of videos of fornication onto it.

Great size for the price. Easy instillation. Tried moving documents from my old computer to my new computer. Simple to download the files into the Portable Hard Drive. I little more time consuming to get them on the new computer and have the folders in an easy to open and navigate view.

This Seagate - Backup Plus Slim 500GB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive did exactly what I needed it to do. I just needed a daily backup of my main computer, which only had like 100GB of data on it, so I didn't need a 1TB or greater drive, which most of them are these days. Nice to be able to find something more size appropriate. Works fine, takes up little room, and was inexpensive.

Bought one to back up files on my mac using the time capsule. Works great and I plan on buying a bigger one so that I can use this one for an expanded DVR hard drive.

I bought this drive from Best Buy because I need it asap to back up my laptop. i wanted to store around 100GB it was on sale so i drove over to Best Buy instead of ordering some thing from amazon or newegg. when i plugged it in nothing happened i though its not getting enough power from that usb so i tried all of the usb on the laptop(win 7) the only thing that it could detect was it is a seagate drive the led didnt come on no vibration from the drive spinning then i tried it on a Win vista , Win 8 and a Mac at my college didnt do anything went to warranty support order a replacement it has been more then a week they have sent it to

I ALREADY HAVE A 160 GIG WESTERN DIGITAL... I USE IT A LOT, SO EVERY NOW AND THEN, I REFORMAT IT... I DO MY BACKUP'S WITH ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE... I PLUGGED THIS PIECE OF JUNK IN AND TRIED TO FORMAT IT... IT WOULD NOT FORMAT IT AND NOW THE PC WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT... I DON'T KNOW WHY THESE COMPANIES INSTALL THEIR OWN GARBAGE PROGRAM'S... ALL I WANT IS AN EMPTY DRIVE... I CAN USE MY OWN PROGRAM'S FOR BACKING UP.
