It took a little while to install. Had to restart my computer and install again but it saved data for two family computers with plenty of room to spare.

This drive is an excellent backup for my Macbook Air. It works great with Apple time machine

First one had a Loud Ticking noise and would not eject from my 2012 Mac Mini and would cause the computer to freeze Returned to Store. Second one No ticking noise but same problem would freeze the computer when ejecting. These are suppose to be Hot Swappable and for use on Mac's. It works Great on a Windows Computer ?????????

Good option for backing up those important photos, MP3s, or whatever. Only two complaints with this model. 1 - The device needs its own external power supply, rather than being powered via the USB connection. 2 - This Ext HDD was intended for a MAC and I instructed the included wizard as such, but the hard drive was still formatted for use by a Windows PC. Had to Google instructions for formatting the hard drive for MAC use.

I have a few of these portable drives and have found them reliable as well as the perfect size for all my travel.

I was misled by the photo of the hard drive on the back of the package, which shows it connected to a computer through USB cable and no other chord. It turns out that this hard drive needs to be permanently plugged to a power outlet in order to run. That makes it a no-go for me, as I don't want to clutter my desktop with more cables. Furthermore, I find it rather noisy. I bought it to replace an older 1 Tb disk that is dying but that I love because it only needs a USB connection, no power chord.

either it works or it doesn't. either the unit works or it fails. i have had several of these, and no issues. use it as a backup and don't use it for constantly working, and you are fine.

Great hard drive. I needed an upgrade for my PS4 hard drive as I was quickly running out of space. Opened this case, and put on my PS4. Followed the usual hard drive replacement steps and it's working great! Now I have 1.5TB more space compared to what the PS4 brought originally.

I purchased the Seagate external HD for my daughter so that she can back-up her MAC. I appreciated that it was already formatted for the MAC and we could just plug it in and let it back-up everything. Be aware that your first backup can take hours. They are a little pricey but well worth the peace of mind.

I actually bought this on sale for 20 bucks less than the Windows version and reformatted it to NTFS. I'm not sure why the Mac version was cheaper, but the world is a mysterious place. Anyway, the drive is nearly silent even under load, and the ease of using one cable for power and data cannot be overstated. All around a great device.

These are great backup drives for the money. Easy to setup and the software just does what its supposed to in the background so you can get back to work and not worry about it. I've deployed a bunch of these in a corporate environment over the last couple of months and there are a couple of issues, though. First off, setting up the software causes the computer (Windows 7 Pro, at least) to lose all of its network share mappings. They can be remapped, but the issue is very annoying and occurs every time. Also, there is an incompatibility with the BIOS on HP laptops causing a failure to boot when the drive is connected. This can be overcome by adjusting the USB settings in the BIOS, but it didn't used to be an issue at all before the current generation of drive.

I've used this once so far and have had no issues with it. I plan to use it to store files from 2 different Macs, which I have started doing already, so I will be getting a lot of use out of it.

It is a must with macbooks with less memory. Mine is 128GB macbook and 2TB HDD is a boon at this price tag

Great hard drive for the first 8 months, had over 30 gb of files (photos, videos, personal files, etc.) I plugged it in one day and BOOM. All of my files were inaccessible, the HDD failed on me. Extremely angry, but I'm just going to have to deal with it. Think before you purchase a Seagate product, try Western Digital.

After having difficulty selecting an external hard drive online I decided to Best Buy in order to recieve assistance from an associate. I wanted something that made the contents of my back ups easily accessible preferably with App access. I was told this would be the best option and it had both. It doesn't. Not to mention its very slow. I should have purchased Seagate Personal Cloud

In reading the advertising material, it omitted the information that this drive would not work with backup software when attached to a router port, nor did it point out that paragon does not work with Time Machine. I waited for almost an hour to talk to a support rep who acknowledged that this was not communicated in the manuals and suggested I "drag and drop" for backups. Very disappointed.

I was unable to back up with a Shadow image. easily backed up all documents, photos, music etc.

This is not on sleek and elegant but its works like a charm so much better than my other one. Works great on my Mac and PC. With a lot of memory at a good price.

Did not plug and play. The Comp recognized it, then I had to instal the installer, go through a registration process, then restart computer. to find the dashboard have to go into the applications finder and open dashboard. Once dashboard is open will not let me drag and drop. The only options are to back up files that are already on he drive. Thanks for wasting my time Seagate.This is going back.
