After 1.5 years still going strong and supported
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this cloud drive for about a year and a half and this drive has been flawless for me. The only reason I'm writing this review now is I noticed it recently had another firmware update and it made me appreciate the fact that it's still supported and upgraded as well as the Plex app that is installed on it. I keep it on the LAN only and don't use the internet functions and I also have another 4 tb cloud drive that is a carbon copy of the Seagate for backup. It's been on 24/7 since I owned it have transferred many TB's of data and never had a hiccup. It may not be the fastest or latest and greatest but if you want something practical that doesn't cost too much money this is it. I think some of the negative reviews on the internet come from people that don't know how to configure it.

Easy set up for personal cloud storage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Seagate personal cloud was easy to set up and with the 4TB drive gives me plenty of storage for backing up my files. I have a 1TB GoFlex that was filling up and added the personal cloud for additional backups. Next step will be to set up the media server so that I can centrally store all my music, movies and pictures.

An exciting Product!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very exciting product with lots of technology. I bought this primarily for streaming to my LG Smart 4K TV and several Android smart phones. Second use for backup. My setup includes LG Smart 4K TV with Roku 4, Nexus 6, Samsung Galaxy S5 and Blu smartphones. I wanted to stream both HD and 4K video to these devices. Streaming requires installation of the Seagate Media app on the Roku 4 and smart phones. Streaming of HD and 4K videos in MP4 format was excellent. There was occasional buffering for high bit rate videos. The streaming to the LG Smart 4K TV using the Roku 4 was exceptional. Home NAS is really a new technology and you need to be technical to get what you want from this product....but that is a good thing...because eventually every home will have a NAS media server.

Decent Storage Poor Performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Drive is easy to use and setup, I bought this to be able to use this as a n/w storage for video and photos. The Seagate software and as well as Plex software are VERY POOR performing and are extremely slow. (I re-indexed everything after emailing support and performance is still poor) I use it now as just another backup drive still looking for a good NAS to use as a DLNA server.

Better Choice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned the WD as it was a pain to set it up. This one was easy to set up and did firmware updates automatically, and when I called support for a couple of questions, they were patient and showed me how to get the maximum use out of it. Working as advertised.

Horrible!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy this hard drive if you are planning to use it for mobile devices like your phone and tablets. My phone would not back up and would say fail after 20 minutes ( you have to be on the same wifi network to do this). Also when I went to download my photos for ease of access on my phone it would not upload all the photos. The max amount of photos I could upload was 750 out of 3000 from my mobile device, after that it would not add anymore. Biggest piece of junk. This is made for ease of access and it is completely not. Even trying to find photos and files on your mobile device was impossible. On the other hand it was fine for my desktop and laptops but I feel as though I will find errors in the long run. The other huge problem is the nooooiiiissseeee! It sounds like a 1990s desktop computer! I immediately returned this hard drive back to Best Buy and purchased the just released Western Digital my cloud home. Just released a day ago. 60 times better!

Pain in the Neck - Junk.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, tried everything to get this to work. It will not give me permission. I can not upload, drag, paste, or make a directory. I should of listened to geek Teck who said he could never get them to work but maybe I would have better luck. It does not say windows 10 so maybe its too old and its a Windows 10 reject. The Seagate is easy to setup, plug and play, and you can see Seagate - but, it will not let me transfer anything. My PC network sees it, etc., even with full permission's given in properties - no transfer is allowed. the cloud say's not enough room for a 2 meg file but states 4TB available. LOL. JUNK. Waist of time and money.
