Customers are positive about the G4ME ONE Open Air PC Gaming Headset's sound quality and comfort, with many appreciating its lightweight design. The microphone also receives favorable feedback for its auto-mute functionality. However, some customers note that the bass response is less prominent than in other gaming headsets. Overall, the positive aspects of sound, comfort, and weight appear to outweigh the less impactful bass.

I didn't know what to expect with the open back headphones BUT I am pleasantly surprised at the sound quality. Also, with using the additional Dolby Atmos download for XBOX One, you literally can hear footsteps and sounds all around you.

Hello! Before I review the headset let me start by first stating I have went through a lot of gaming headsets in the last 2 months. Testing and trying to find the right one. I play a lot of games on the XB1X that require attention to detail, mainly BR's (Blackout, Apex).
I first tried the Turtle Beach Stealth 700. Let me tell you that it's a piece of junk, like most TB products. Volume was low (issue on all wireless headsets) and the sound was too far from neutral and seemed artificial. I then went to HyperX Cloud X, which had an above average sound but suffered from terrible mic audio bleed (output sound from the game and other peoples mic's would bleed into my mic causing echoing). It was a common reviewed issue and ultimately made me return them. I afterwards tried a pair of RIG 500lx's and was highly disappointed in the bass distortion, these headsets have bad drivers (avoid!). I then went big and tried a pair of Astro A40 TR's with the Mixamp Pro. I decided I would spend big to get a product that would hopefully pay off for itself. The headset as a stand-alone is absolutely NOT worth the money, and has poor results when tested for sound. The sound stage and imaging was great, but the rest was off and non-neutral. The MixAmp is what made the headset actually good, but I couldn't help but feel it wasn't right. SO..
I went ahead and bought these after lots of discussions with audiophiles and experts (friends, reddit, forumboards, etc). I was specifically told to avoid typical gaming brands if I wanted to get the ultimate sound for gaming. I was recommended to Sennheiser.
Sennheiser is normally NOT a gaming company, they are a high-end audiophile company similar to bose, beyer, etc. These headphones are made by a company that is truly invested in producing the best sound quality possible and normally invest in studio recording quality, which is way beyond gaming headset companies.
Once I put these on and tried them on a few games, I was blown away, they were significantly better then the Astro 40TR's with the mixamp, and I was only using the Game One's by themselves. WOW!
Here is a list of the Pros and Cons, but there is really not any serious Cons.
PROS:
- Incredible Sound Stage: These are open back which allows for a larger sound stage. I don't know if I ever heard a sound stage so fantastic, I have a buddy with a pair of Bose A20's for studio work and he was blown away by the Sound Stage on these. Sound stage is what expands the sound within the headset and makes the environment seem real.
- Incredible Imaging: The imaging, which is what determines the accuracy of sound direction, is highly impressive. Paired with the excellent sound stage these headphones are ridiculous. In games where sound is crucial these will excel highly. I started a custom game with 6 people in CoD Blackout and had them all run behind me and around me, as I ran, and was able to tell where all of them were and a very good rough estimate of how far they were in distance. In fact I had 2 people run in a straight line behind each other at different distances and I could still tell it was 2 people thanks to the stage and imaging.
- Incredible Mid, Treble, and Harmonic Distortion: Sounds are crystal clear without any distortion. This headset produces a neutral natural sound that is intended by the song producers or game developers. It is as real and alive as you will get from a gaming headset, it is studio quality.
- Very Comfortable: With memory foam velour pads and open-back they are relatively breathable and you won't suffer from boiling hot ears and can survive long gaming sessions.
Volume: The volume goes very high through the 3.5 mm jack on a controller, in fact way higher then your ears can probably handle. Volume is not an issue. At high volumes sounds remained as crystal clear as they did on lower volumes.
Mic: The mic is very clear and has a huge frequency range on it for lows and highs. It also features noise cancellation and works well. The mute is controlled by simple rotating the mic upwards and downwards, making it very convenient; similar to the Stealth 700's. You don't need any special adapter to control the volume or mute feature on a console controller. It is plug and play.
Lightweight: I was surprised when I first received it to notice it was very lightweight for the tech that was inside. Goes well with the comfort aspect.
CONS:
- Bass: The bass is great, don't get me wrong, but it's not going to kick like some other headsets. This is mainly because it is an OPEN BACK headset which gives it a huge sound stage but doesn't have the closed back to make the bass vibrate. If you expect your ears to vibrate from bass these won't give that, but they will leave you satisfied on the bass level.
- Plastic: The headset is made from plastic which is a bit of a let down from a high-end audiophile company. However, it does have metal around all the hinges and where it is warranted. The plastic is high-grade and very durable.
- Isolation/Leakage: The headset has a low isolation/leakage rating because it is OPEN BACK. This means it is slightly easier for you to hear noises in your environment and easier for people around you to hear whatever you're playing or listening to. However, with the volume moderately high it drowns out any outside sound from leaking into your ears, mainly because the sound stage is so massive and makes contact through-out the entire pinna.
Conclusion:
This is a AUDIOPHILE GRADE GAMING HEADSET. Sennheiser is an audiophile company that is in business to produce sound that is as perfect as possible. That should sum up your answer. You're not buying a Turtle Beach, HyperX, Plantronic, Astro, etc. You're buying a truly and fair priced high-end headset that delivers truly superb sound at an unprecedented level. You won't ever go back once you get one of these on your head. Advice? Buy them 100%.
P.S: I HIGHLY recommend these over the Game Zeros! Closed back are NOT good for gaming and are over hyped by Pros because they need high isolation while in noisy game tournaments when there are crowds screaming. Open back is ALWAYS better for proper sound. Go research it yourself! Only buy the closed back versions if you have a very noisy environment that you game in (I.E Kids screaming, etc).

I have owned multiple Sennheiser headphones in the past for Music and didn't want to lose that comfort or sound quality. The extra money for a dedicated high-end gaming headphone was well worth it and these are keepers.

I had some JVC headphones that I was using before getting this set. This set completely blows them out of the water. You can hear so much detail from these. The mic is very good too. I now sometimes use the JVC ones and can't stand them.

Perfect headset. Sounds are crisp and clear while also being detailed. I’ve tried so many headsets from Turtle Beach to Astro A40’s (w/o mix amp) and couldn’t recommend a better wired headset.

They are lightweight, very comfortable for small to large ears, and the open design means that you can keep them on for a long time without discomfort. Noticeably missing are the lows, but in the end of the day these are gaming headphones, not music, and they get low enough that music isn't bad and explosions are still powerful, but if you're coming from a pair of bass heavy Turtle Beach headphones you'll notice it right away. They are lightweight but still have enough weight to be sturdy and durable enough, but I highly recommend getting a headset stand to protect your investment.
They come with the PC pink and green connections, as well as a shorter 3.5 cord for you xBox One or PS4. This headset IS stereo, but on both PC and xBox sounded like surround sound to me.

I tried many other headsets before I finally gave the Sennheiser G4me One a try (despite the stupid sounding name). Wow! What a refreshing experience. Most gaming headsets have a bias towards heavy, boomy bass which really ruins the sound, especially if you listen to music. This headset has a very natural and clean sound with a good balance of bass, mid, and highs. The microphone also provides excellent quality and noise cancellation. It makes an audible click when you mute it. It's fairly light and comfortable for a long gaming session, although I wouldn't say it was the most comfortable headset I've used.
The open ear design really makes the Sennheiser shine. It creates a more airy less closed in sound environment and Makes the song or game feel more expansive. Voice communication is fantastic. The voices of my teammates sound so much clearer through this headset. . Another benefit of the open ear design is that you can actually hear yourself talking in the microphone (which you can't in a closed design).
There are no gimmicks and no frills with this headset (other than its name). What you get is a headset worthy of an audiophile who also plays games. I have no doubt this will last me for a good long while.

Good headphones and comes with detachable headphone wire so if it breaks you can easily buy a new one for less than $20 on the brand's website without needing to buy new headphones. Soft on ears and top of head.
