Pros: * Awesome sound. * Comfortable fit. * All-day battery life. * Noise cancelling works great. * Simple controls. * Lightweight. Cons: * Buttons could be a bit easier to use. * Cannot turn off noise cancelling when in Bluetooth mode. * Max volume is mostly loud enough but could be louder. * Missing some convenience-focused features. If you’re looking for luxurious wireless headphones that are comfortable and sound great for all-day listening, you found them! Starting with the soothing British voice announcements (battery life, connection status, etc.) all the way through to the smooth and accurate audio; these headphones will envelop you in the music. I’m no audiophile but I could readily notice the subtle improvements in sound clarity with these headphones versus others I have used; especially Bluetooth headphones. There are just two very simple controls on the right ear; a power/pairing button and a 3-way rocker switch (slide up/down for volume and press for multi-function). Simplicity is a double-edged sword, though. Hold the power/pairing button just long enough and the headphones turn on or off. Hold it just a bit too long and the headphones switch into Bluetooth pairing mode. The 3-way rocker switch works well enough, but things like checking battery status require you to pause the music and then triple-press that button. I would have preferred a pair of dedicated volume buttons on the left earpiece and a pair of track button on the right, but this is a nit and NOT a dealbreaker. A little texture on the top of that rocker button would have been nice, too. I’m a fan of discrete buttons rather than repurposing them depending on context. I would say my biggest complaint is that the admittedly great noise cancelling feature cannot be deactivated when using these headphones in Bluetooth wireless mode. The obvious reason to turn off the noise cancelling feature would be to conserve battery power if listening in an already-quiet environment. These headphones are rated at 22 hours of wireless playback with the noise cancelling feature on. If that feature could be turned off, these could potentially last a lot longer on a charge. While cheaper headphones have convenience features like auto-pause when taking them off your ears, these are just great cans; pure and simple. I have no complaints about the sound (awesome), the comfort (luxurious) or the connectivity (rock-solid). In fact, I had to dig to find anything to mention as cons. These really are incredible headphones that blur the distinction between wired and wireless fidelity.

I have been looking to purchase a pair of wireless noise canceling over the ear headphones for quite a while and I also have been listening to the Sony Wh1000xm3 and the Bose QuietComfort 35 they sounded amazing. The Sony has never been on sale priced at @ 349.99 the Bose went on sale for 299.99 it's the prices that I didn't want to pay.But on 2/16/19 the wait was over when I saw the Sennheiser HD1 Momentum went on sale for 199.98 at Best Buy website I simply couldn't let it pass so I ordered it.I am extremely happy with my purchase it amazingly sounded as the Sony and the Bose.Thank to Best Buy for fast shipping.

    Great Looks, Killer Sound

First impression out of the box was very positive, padded leather headband with contrast stitching, exposed stainless steel headband where the ear cups slide to adjust the fit, nice, soft leather ear cup pads, nicely finished ear cups that could pass for metal even though they are plastic, switches and cables that are well designed and function great, and an overall design that still looks good even after being in the marketplace for a few years now as Sennheiser’s Momentum series. Once I put them on, my opinion started to change a little. These are marketed as an “over-the-ear” design, but I find the space inside the ear cups to be a little tight for my not unusually large ears. Not tight enough to hurt, but enough to be noticeable when compared to other headphones in my collection. I have worn the HD1s for a few hours straight and was not in a hurry to remove them, so I think the fit is something your ears get acclimated to. The headband doesn’t appear to be thickly padded, but it is very comfortable nonetheless…even on my bald head. Headphones are all about sound quality, and like the title of my review says…”Killer Sound”. I almost bought a wired Momentum a few years ago, but a back-to-back comparison led me to choose a slightly snooty, English competitor (it was a very close decision, however). Having the opportunity to revisit the Sennheiser sound signature again, I can truthfully say I appreciate the tonality and detailed sound of the HD1. These headphones present the musical signal as it is fed to it without causing unusual coloring or altering of that signal (I can tell by listening to music that I have heard over and over for decades - we all have those selections that are very intimately familiar to us). Clean, punchy, and detailed sound - a pleasure to listen to. Accurate sound reproduction without changing it into something else is what most reputable speaker and headphone manufacturers try to achieve and Sennheiser is one of those companies. I work in a noisy environment and the active noise cancelation works just as well as that on a couple of competitor’s products that I have, one wireless and one wired and renowned for their prowess in ANC. The HD1 gives up nothing in this regard, in my opinion. The only downside I can see is that the ANC cannot be switched off. The ability to do so serves two purposes, it conserves battery power and there may be some occasions where you want to be able to hear your surroundings. As far as battery life goes, mine ran for a little over 25 hours while playing at a moderate volume. Quality of phone calls on the headphone was average - no better or no worse than other headsets capable of phone conversations. Sennheiser provides accessories that are comparable to other manufacturers at this price point; a charging cable (neither end is proprietary thankfully), an audio cable for wired listening, an airplane adapter, a thin fabric draw-string carry bag, and a more substantial padded carry case. The provided “quick guide” is more of a now-fashionable pictogram showing usage with minimal words and you have to go to the web site for the full-on user manual that gives a detailed explanation. If you are looking for a good looking and great sounding headphone with a touch of class provided by the materials and construction, it would be hard to improve upon the Sennheiser HD1 in the moderately priced category.

Excellence in sound quality and noise reduction

Sennheiser - HD1 Wireless Over-the-Ear Noise Canceling Headphones. From the Sennheiser literature it seems that they make more expensive headphones. It’s hard to imagine how they could improve on the wonderful headphones on my head right now. I should point out right off that the advertising pictures don’t do these headphones justice. The quality of the materials aren’t captured by photos. These are premium materials: very soft leather, metal bands covered in more leather, and nice pillow cushions. The comfort on your head isn’t apparent from the brief descriptions. The Senneheisers just feel right. And the sound . . . ? You simply need to try these for yourself because these Sennheisers represent exceptional headphone engineering. I’ll share my observations below. COMFORT and FIT: I’ll concede these aren’t practical for every desired purpose. Running and energetic workouts? Not a great idea, and there are many smaller, in-ear, alternatives. However, for traveling on planes and trains, or surviving a noisy office, or just enjoying a movie or music while the world swirls around me? That makes perfect sense. These Sennheisers represent sound reproduction at the top of the class. And this over-the-ear form should fit most people without fuss or frustration. The luxurious earpads surround and seal off the world with only nominal pressure. The materials are soft and invite long listening periods. SOUND: After listening to a few music selections I realized that I was hearing these performances as intended by the artist, maybe for the first time. Bass, especially, is a revelation. Whether it’s a drum set or cellos or a piano, the tone is deep with authority, but rich with overtones that make it more real. This is not bloated, indistinct bass. I had no trouble identifying the instrument being used. Every other part of the musical spectrum is equally represented, exhibiting balance and detail that I know is more “right” than I have heard before. If there is a tilt to the frequency balance, it is slightly upwards in the bass and lower in the treble, making it easy to adjust as I want. These headphones don’t favor any music genre. I loved them on Gregory Porter as much as I did with Andra Day. These headphones seem especially well suited for movies. The Sennheiser challenges you to find something they can’t handle, perfectly. They will tolerate more volume than my ears can take all the while staying under complete control, without a hint of harshness. Be careful, please. FEATURES: The Sennheisers can be connected using an included twist-lock cable or using Bluetooth. Bluetooth connection was quick and easy. I used noise reduction in both modes, using the combination BT-Power button to turn it off when I was wired. It looks like Noise Reduction is always on when in BT mode. Coding utilizing aptX ensures that the Bluetooth quality is indistinguishable from wired performance. The VOLUME control uses a nifty spring loaded slide switch, that re-centers after each volume change, and is very easy to find on the right ear cup. This same switch is a press/release for multiple purposes. There is a lot of advanced technology in use here. Dual microphones for voice clarity and ambient noise control when using the phone. The Active Noise Cancellation uses 4 microphones, 2 inside, 2 outside to remove a broad range of background noise. It was impossible for me to detect any harmful effects on sound quality. Compared to other brands I’ve used, the Sennheisers let in a bit more ambient noise, but it reduces engine noise or other droning noises very effectively. For new owners, I’m going to suggest you ignore the Quick Guide in the box, and instead download the Instruction Manual from the Sennheiser site. It might save you some time. If longevity makes you feel better about the expense, it might help for you to know that ear cushion replacements and even battery replacement is available from Sennheiser. Other materials are likely to last a long time. SUMMARY: I love the Sennheiser HD1 wireless headphones. Their combination of comfort, excellent sound, noise reduction, useful features and upscale quality materials are awfully hard to beat.

Everything about these headphones are premium. The package, materials, feel, and sound. When I received these I immediately plugged them in (wired) and started listening to my music. Wow! It was like listening to it all for the first time. Crystal clear audio, perfectly balanced. Not too much bass either. Then I charged them and tried them with Bluetooth. Even better. I can honestly sit back and listen to my music for hours. Battery is great too. The controls on board are also very easy to use. Overall I love these headphones and they have become my instant favorites!

The HD1 i essentially the Momentum 2.0 overseas. Its made from some pretty nice premium materials which make the HD1's very very comfortable to use. The extremely soft leather on the ear cups feels like no other headphone, its so soft and when wearing its hardly noticeable, it feels great. The stainless steel sliders are easy enough to move and slide with a smooth motion but they're also strong enough to hold the cups in the desired location with no movement, continuing up the headband you find more soft leather. Branding is also minimal with 2 small tabs on the band with 2 small tabs for branding, its discreet and looks great. On the inside of the bands, just above the cups it shows L+R to show the way you should be wearing these. The HD1 are pretty easy to travel with also, thanks to the folding mechanism on the band, this allows them to neatly close up and fit inside the provided carry case, it also comes with a nice drawstring bag for extra protection. Also included are a stereo headphone cable to allow listening with your conventional 3.5mm headphone jack that manufacturers are shamelessly removing on devices. a micro USB cable for charging and an in flight adapter. When it comes to controls you get a power button that doubles up as a pairing button, you jut hold down the power until the light starts to blink, this is now in pairing mode. You also have a slider which when pressed is a play and pause button and when slide from side to side it functions as your volume slider. All very easy to use and simple to find. When it comes to sound, the HD1's do not disappoint. Over all genres of music from simple pop tunes to complex orchestral pieces the HD1's sound great. The high have that crispness and clarity and the bass is a smooth bass that doesn't vibrate your cranium, its more of a deep low hum and with this it doesn't mussy the details in the tracks you're listening to. The balance for me is almost perfect, they also work well with the PS4, playing Fornite i could hear all sounds in all directions in great detail. These have always on active noise cancellation and i quite enjoy it. it works really well and blocks out most routine daily noises but also lets you hear things like sirens and such, i also don't get the feeling of pressure in my ears with the HD1's . These are quite simply the most comfortable headphones i have used. At $500 these are not cheap and thats ok as they're not supposed to be. You get sound thats as every bit as good as they look. If you can afford these and are in the market for something like this then i highly recommend giving them a try

I always enjoy the Sennheiser brand. For the comfort level, I must say this does rank towards one of the tops out of all the headphones that I do have. I actually find myself being able to fall asleep while wearing them. The sound range from the lows to the highs are quite well but that is one of the reasons why I did give this a 4 out of 5. Out of the box I was expecting to be blown out of the water by the sound quality but I wasn't. It was until I went into my equalizer and made adjustments until I found the sweet spot on how I wanted to have the sound to be. The aesthetics are awesome. I really do enjoy the retro look. The noise cancellation is both passive and active. I can listen to music at comfortable levels and most of the background noise just goes away. The battery life is also very surprisingly long. I did get a little kick when you do turn on the head phones, there is a "British" female accent when it is powered on and off. Overall very solid unit. The sound is great once you have tweaked the equalizer, the looks are awesome and the comfort is beyond great! You won't be disappointed.

These are my first pair of high end headphones. By no means am I an audiophile. Build extremely sturdy. Feeling them you can tell they are expensive. High quality material as expected from Sennheiser. Those ear cups are comfortable with the memory foam. Forms a tight seal. These have a kind of vintage look to them. The leather pads are luxurious. The volume/pause/skip button is an elegant design feature. Pros: * Great sound range (high highs and low lows) * Amazing fidelity and sound * Comfortable to wear literally all day * Passive and active noise cancelling * Very comfortable on your head * Outstanding design and durable. (aluminum headband) * Amazing battery life. * Easy controls * Nice case. Negatives: - No ability to turn off noise canceling when using wireless - No light indicator that shows when the headphones are on, and no auto-off features. So you have to be careful to turn them off when you're not using them. - does not give a charge percentage

Pros: Looks, its gorgeous! Connects Quickly Best sound fidelity I've had from a bluetooth device Decent Noise Cancelling Cons Pressure from ANC Start to feel tight after 3 hours Would like to be able to un/mute calls from headphones Extended Review: I've owned a fair amount of mid range (think Bose, expensive Sony's) headphones, ear buds and what-not over the years. Thus far, whenever I've spent more than $100 on a pair, I've been disappointed. What I've learned is that if I accept the inferior sound quality of the lesser brands I'm rewarded with the product meeting or exceeding my expectations. This is the first time I've owned a premium pair that has met my expectations -- their great, the most faithful reproduction of sound that I've gotten from Bluetooth headphones. I've also hooked them up for conference calls and that's great, the noise cancelling really helps you tune in to whatever you auditory focus is. The craftsmanship and quality that is apparent in the build is evident everywhere in the design and detail. A couple of minor drawbacks: You will feel the pressure on your ears as soon as you turn these on, you get that with every Noise-Cancelling pair I've owned. The noise cancelling is really good at picking up the drone from airplanes, cars, furnaces, fridges, etc. and tuning that out, but any sharp noises will still come through pretty clear. I actually like this as if my wife needs to get my attention she still can. One note: ANC is on whenever the device is on. I found that the spring starts to feel a little tight after 3 hours -- but come'on -- three hours! Last complaint, and this probably doesn't affect 95% of the population that's going to buy these so no stars off -- I would really like the ability to mute and unmute calls directly on the headphones. Besides that I really likes how intuitive the combination of the rocker/button and power button were for operation. This gets the 5 stars as there is nothing better in the market segment.

I've had other very popular headphones that were Bluetooth and noise cancelling before. After some quality issues I did some research and found these HD1's. I was absolutely blown away from the quality of these compared to my old set (beats). The fit and finish is outstanding. The ease of use - the fact that you can pair two devices (at the same time) - laptop & phone, is incredible. The battery life is outstanding. My only gripe is the soft case they provide - I like a hard-shell better.

The Sennheiser HD 1 over ear active noise cancelling headphones work seamlessly with all my devices including my iPads, nano, and iPhone and my digital player. The sound canceling is noticeable at home when others have music with bass playing or a movie blasting in the home theater. It’s crazy, i feel the bass, but can’t hear the sound. Remove them and wow the sound is there - very surreal. The real test for me was wearing them at the airport and on the plane. I took them with me on a recent plane trip. It was funny that the sound canceling was not noticeable until I took them off. Wow. When I had the HD 1's on, the music was clear with out any background noise. When I took them off, I immediately heard loud background sounds that I had no clue were there. With them on, listening at normal volumes it was freakin awesome. I travel enough to know the annoying drone sounds in the background including the crying babies and just loud people, all of which were mostly cancelled out. The HD 1's are clear, have great sound separation and frequency response. I’ve noticed some pressure points but they were not a big deal. I wore the phones for 3 plus hours with only some adjusting for pressure points. Pros: Sound canceling is Excellent! These Sennheiser HD1 HeadPhones cancel out airplane noise extremely well and have a quiet neutral soundstage Sound with separation. Sound quality - Fit and finish - Range in bluetooth - Great battery life - Collapsible - Sturdy carrying case - Travel ready cables included - all great. Cons: - 3.5mm included cable isn't 3.5mm on the ear cup end (but does lock into place) It's a special cable which is annoying. - No controls when hard wired. You have to get phone out of pocket - No USB-C for fast charging and reduced cables.

Great Headphones for Music and Calls

I do not consider myself an audiophile but I am very particular about sound quality while listening to music and the Sennheiser HD1s are fantastic, when I am working I tend to listen to fusion jazz or classical at a nice soft volume and other times I will put on some rock and crank the volume - in all scenarios these headphones shine. I spend hours upon hours on conference calls and I've never had an issue hearing those on the other end of the call, I have also asked many co-workers about the quality of my voice on the calls and they have all said that it is very clear. I am not a individual that wanted 100% noise cancellation, I need to have some audio awareness of my surroundings (it is similar to never sitting in a restaurant with my back to the door.) The noise cancellation is just right for me, meaning that when I turn these headphones on it does a very nice job totally cancelling noise like air condition, chatter at a distance etc., but if someone approaches me and starts talking I can hear enough to know that I need to pay attention. The build quality on these headphones is solid without compromising on comfort, as for battery life I think the Energizer Bunny wears these headphones because these things keep going and going.

Sennheiser makes the absolute best sounding headphones I think. Worth every penny! The music sounds rich and deep. They are very comfortable to wear for hours at a time. The charge lasts for days of multi hourly use. However, I would add the protection plan to the purchase just in case, the portable nature means anything can happen outside of your control.

First real high end headphone purchase and am blown away by how good these sound. Bluetooth sync is easy and these work great as a hands free device for talking on a cellphone. Even though you cant see a external microphone there is one built in internally that is very good and nobody can tell that I am using a headset. The cushions are extremely soft and the headband is is very comfortable. Listening to music on these is very good much better than expected. Hard to describe how good these sound. The active noise cancelling is pretty good Bose and Sony do it better but for the most part it works at blocking about 90% of external noise.

I truly love these headphones i upgraded from a $40 pair of altec (big jump) but after those being too hot and uncomfortable for as nuch as i wear (near constantly somedays) after also doing through tons of earbuds i chose Sennheiser over Bose and Sony mainly for build quality at this price point primarily plastic bothered me,they are also great for being rather cool i tend to get hot easily and do alot of walking they are still comfy in 80-90 heat to summarize they are worth it if you use them alot or if the best is all you'll have

I'm a loyal Sennheiser customer and always look to them first when purchasing new headphones. These headphones are no exception in terms of quality and performance. They sound great, battery life is sufficient for my needs, noise cancelling works very well. Only negative is that if you're intending on wearing them for more than an hour or two, they start to feel uncomfortable on your ears. Additionally, I would like for them to have more intuitive multimedia controls.
