Simply put, these headphones are incredible!!! I've read about Sennheiser headphones and knew they have a good reputation but I've never used any before these. My first words after putting them on for the first time were "Oh my God". I see why these are in this price point and honestly they sound like they should cost more. I'll start with the packaging they come in. Outstanding to say the least. I've a couple of other high end brand head phones before but Sennheiser takes it up to another higher level. There is no squeaking sounds from the moving parts and it feels like this set is designed to last a good long time. Fit on my head is rather comfortable and not tight feeling what so ever. The cushions for the head phones is soft and plush feeling. An added bonus is they don't feel at all like overheating while wearing them. The active noise canceling works perfectly. Where these headphones really shine is in the sound quality. Connecting via bluetooth the sound produced by these cans has absolutely no distortion and sound as if they have as near perfect sound that my ears detect. I am a bit of an audio snob and the sound produced by these a darn near perfect. Battery life is decent with no complaints. Another added bonus is they are not heavy on the my head. The included carry case is nice and provided an excellent method of protection when they are traveling with me in my backpack. Overall these headphones by Sennheiser are about as close to perfection to me.

Great sounding headphones but the new technology is in the Bluetooth receiver

This is a long review, so let me give you the TLDR up front. You buy Sennheiser for sound quality, not noise cancellation, “look at me” design, or features such as spatial audio. Sennheiser is all about the sound, and the HDB 630 delivers that like few other wireless headsets, and none close to this price point comes close. Now on to the review proper. When you open the box you’ll see nothing but a welcome sheet and a hard-shell case. The hard-shell case contains the headphones, audio and USB cables, an airplane adapter, and a Sennheiser BDS 700 Bluetooth dongle. While the earcups flatten for storage, they do not fold up. This makes the carrying case somewhat large but manageable. The product design is simple. Available only in matte black with matte silver accents, the product is devoid of decoration save a stylized Sennheiser “S” on each side of the headband. It is very Germanic looking, sometimes referred to as the “Teutonic coal bin” school of design. But in a world of headphones in bright metallic colors and overwrought design cues meant only to stand out, this subtlety sends the message that these cans are all about the sound. Personally, I prefer this simple design. The band and ear cups are made of memory foam covered in imitation leather. They are all well-padded, and I found them comfortable and easy to wear for long periods of time. The ear cups fit tightly around my ears, forming a reasonable noise-blocking seal. The folks at Sennheiser have decided that this iteration of its noise-cancelling headphones belong in their HD (audiophile) line rather than their Momentum (high-end consumer) line. They certainly live up to this designation. Using the same size 42mm drivers as the Momentum 4, Sennheiser has tuned the HDB 630 to deliver sound worthy of the HD line. The soundstage is wide (meaning it sounds like the music is coming from the room rather than the small space of the headphone). It falls somewhere between the Momentum 4 (which I own) and the open-back HD 560 (which I also own). This wide soundstage is a remarkable achievement in a closed-back headphone. Let’s get the BDS 700 dongle discussion out of the way here. You may not realize it, but odds are your phone, tablet, or laptop does not support advanced lossless Bluetooth CODECs like aptX HD. If you plug in a high-quality set of headphones like this using a cord, then connect to your device’s Bluetooth, the drop-off in audio quality will be immediately noticeable. The BDS 700 dongle supports these advanced CODECs. It will plug into any USB-C port and deliver wireless sound that is indistinguishable from the wired version. Unless you are using certain high-end Android products, the difference between the sound delivered by your device’s Bluetooth and the BDS 700 will be immediately apparent. In order to use the BDS 700, you must pair the HDB 630 to it. This is simple enough – just put the headset into pairing mode and push the button on the end of the dongle and they will find each other. The dongle can then be plugged into any USB-C equipped device and your headset will work. (With a caveat on lost connections, below.) The default sound setting (called “neutral”) is very clear. Bass notes are distinctive, not blurred, and I could not get the low frequencies to distort at any volume setting. This allows other instruments that overlap to come through cleanly while presenting each drumbeat and bass line as clearly as it was recorded. Midrange sounds are solid and highs are sharp and present. Every note of every instrument and voice comes through clearly and distinctly. You’ll hear details in your music that you’ve never noticed before, and these details come together to present a truly beautiful representation of whatever music you’re listening to. I really can't emphasize enough just how much better these sound than any other wireless headphones I've heard. The default setting eschews the v-shaped sound (heavily emphasized bass and treble) of most commercial headsets in favor of a flat, neutral sound. While this sound was good, I found it a bit too clinical for long listening sessions. It needed a bit more bass, and female vocals sounded sharp to me. Fortunately, this is all very easy to change in the app. The app has a series of pre-set sound selections and the ability to customize using either a graphic or parametric equalizer. You’re almost certainly familiar with the former, but the latter warrants a quick explanation. The parametric equalizer lets you decide what frequencies you want to center your adjustments on (up to five control points). It then allows you to decide if this is a standard adjustment or if it sets what’s known as a Q-level, where everything between this and the next adjustment point is either maximized or minimized to that level. It takes some playing around with, but it’s worth the effort to explore and figure out what sounds best to you. Fortunately, the parametric equalizer offers an A/B switch. You can set a sound, make adjustments, then flip between them to see which one you want to keep. If all of this sounds like too much work, the graphic equalizer has a simple “which sounds better to you” guide where it will create customized settings for you. The app is also where you set the automatic noise cancellation settings. This is continuously variable from off to no outside sound. While not as good as the industry leaders in noise cancellation, it works more than well enough to block sounds around the house or on a plane (I fly a lot, so I always leave it set to max). There is also a wind reduction mode, which I would turn off it you fly as it actually enhances the sound of the jet engine. The ANC mode also seems to interfere with the microphones for calls, so you’ll want to set that to disable on calls (it’s all automated through the app.) Now we get to the quirky things. If you’re connected through the dongle, the app can’t see the headphones. They have to be connected through Bluetooth for the app to work. While you can theoretically do this on one device, I found the native Bluetooth on my iPhone wanted to take control of the device connection, which drastically reduced the sound quality. I ended up connecting my iPad using the Bluetooth and the dongle to the iPhone using the multi-device connection option. This allows me to play music from my iPhone while adjusting it on my iPad. When I want to listen on my iPad, I turn off the native iPad Bluetooth and plug in the dongle. It’s not an ideal setup, but it’s one that works. I also have had issues with dropped Bluetooth connections. Both my iPhone and iPad at some point told me that they could no longer access the HDB 630 and I would need to reconnect it. Even the Sennheiser dongle lost connection and had to be re-paired to the HDB 630. On the iPad, the Smart Control Plus app does not have save or return buttons to get back to the main screen. You have to kill the app (which saves your setting as a new preset) and come back into it. All of these except the dongle connection should be easily fixable through app or firmware upgrades, and my experience with the Momentum 4 has been that Sennheiser is good at correcting issues like these. I honestly don’t know if the app can be made to work directly through the BDS 700 dongle, so a workaround like I use may be permanent. Summary of this long review matches the TLDR above. You buy Sennheiser for the sound quality, not the noise cancellation, spatial audio features, or fancy packaging. And the HDB 630 delivers sound quality that I’ve not heard outside of high-end audiophile headsets, does so wirelessly, and at a cost far below anything else that sounds close to this good. If audio quality is your guidepost, these are simply unbeatable.

Verdict: I had my heart set on a different pair of touch headphones… Those desires are gone, and more than met by the Sennheiser HDB 630. They are close to perfect: comfort, sound, quality, discretion, customization, and lots of features. Exceptional! Initial Impressions. The style is discreet and unassuming of a pair of $500 earphones. There is only one button and one connector on the headphones. They are a bit more bulky and heavy than my previous headphones. Unlike other headphones that collapse into a more space efficient geometry, these headphones take up more space in my backpack. The package includes the headphones, cables (3.5mm audio, USB-C), USB-C dongle, airplane adapter (so convenient!!) and a case to store everything. Critically important for headphones, they are wonderfully comfortable! Setup. Thank you very much for including a quick-start and stickers on the touch area of the headphones to get me started. I already had the app from having a pair of Sennheiser earbuds, but if you don’t, there is a QR code for easy app download. Pairing is standard through the app or directly from your phone’s Bluetooth settings. App. Some apps are meh… Some are good. This one is fantastic; it offers everything I look for in an app and significantly enhances the value and capabilities of the headphones. The anti-wind feature actually works well, eliminating distortions from breeze or gusts. I have not really used sound zones before, but I appreciate the existence of the feature to customize specific settings to locations. The parametric equalizer is a game-changer. Bass boost is a must have for me because of my preference for heavier bass. Sound. I didn’t know what I was missing until now… Have these spoiled me now?? Sound quality is simply exceptional. The neutral equalizer has forced me to reassess my typical preference for heavier bass and experiment with details, which I frankly didn’t know I was missing before… Allowing for a new experience in my listening. I still resort to Bass boost, but I think I am appreciating more how lows, mids, and highs come together. Passive sound reduction is excellent. Active Noise Cancellation works decently, and contributes to an immersive sound experience. Things I love: - Exceptional sound - Love, love, love the touch controls!! - Very impressive battery life, and convenient quick charge feature to get 7 hours in 10 min of charging if you are in a bind - Exquisite equalizer - Hear-through mode works well - Comfortable, even after hours - USB-C Dongle for low latency audio can also benefit gamers! - Discreet styling, and uncommon, something I really appreciate - The padding works well with my eye glasses - Auto on and off if a feature all headphones should have, well done! - A/B button to hear the original sound vs your equalizer - Great call sound quality, but most importantly with a microphone that picks up my voice well. This is not always the case, with people telling me in the past that I sound “far.” Things I don’t love: - ANC could be better at this price point, but I find the current ANC level acceptable given all the other strengths of these headphones - The ear cups swivel easily so you could end up putting them in a way that they are slightly off center on your head, and thus impacting sound. Overall, the Sennheiser HDB 630 are exceptional… in sound, in comfort, in features, in touch controls, and in the app quality and customization. If you are looking for the best sound possible and can afford the price of these headphones, they are well worth it.

Do not buy. Or buy in person. I never got them and they did nothing to help me I have security camera footage of my house for the time they say it was delivered and nothing was and it’s just a game to them. Seriously don’t waste your time and money buying anything online from Best Buy.

I really like my Sennheiser HDB 630 headphones. In the past when shopping for headphones, I tended to purchase ones that I wouldn’t feel bad about losing. I opted for the best listening quality I could find for less than a hundred bucks. However, like most people who have attended a few too many concerts and sporting events without any regard for hearing protection, I had started noticing slight hearing loss. This became especially noticeable when I recently started studying Spanish and was unable to distinguish certain consonants when listening to Spanish narration. My cheaper noise-cancelling headphones were no longer cutting it. I began researching Sennheiser headphones because I was impressed by some Sennheisers I used for audio and video editing at my previous job. For me, the Sennheiser HDB 630 headphones checked all the boxes. The sound quality is excellent for podcasts and music. The noise-cancelling works quite well, even outside in the wind. They are lightweight and very comfortable. The earpieces have just the right amount of padding. They cover the ears completely while remaining comfortable when wearing glasses or sunglasses. The headband is well padded and stays in place. The controls on headphones are easy to use. The user-friendly app includes an equalizer that allows you to create and save your own filters. The headphones hold a charge for several days—longer than any other headphones I own. They come with a sturdy, fabric-covered case that has a mesh pocket and elastic straps for the included cords and adapters. For me, these headphones have been a game changer.

These headphones are easily the best I have ever had for audio from any sound source, especially music on my MP3 player. The construction is absolutely first rate and is built with premium materials. It comes in a very nice case that even has pockets for the included accessories: charging cable, wired 3.5mm cable, dongle and an ‘in flight’ adapter. This latter accessory I had not seen included with a headset before. The ‘inflight’ adapter is a dual-prong plug for the airplane's jack on one end and a single 3.5mm stereo jack for your headphones on the other. Gone will be the days that I need one of the cheap headsets the airline gives you to listen to a movie. A giant tip of my cap to the Sennheiser folks for including this accessory and for an outstanding product.  All features from noise cancellation to battery hours to phone controls etc., are top notch and worked perfectly. The noise cancellation and the ‘transparency mode’ are very effective and these are important features for me since I sometimes listen to music while I work in my woodshop with various machines that make a lot of noise. I still hear the music nicely. The noise cancellation is adaptive (a very complicated technology) and really blocks out the unwanted distractions. You can of course adjust the sound to your preferences including the amount of noise cancellation. The app is very well designed and I would suggest you download and utilize the ‘Smart Control Plus’ app from Sennheiser since it does provide guidance on the controls and includes easy setup to get the sound customized for your needs. The sound you hear is very smooth from bass to midrange to treble. It is so lifelike that you may think the band is in your living room. The technology used in this headset is far superior to the lower priced units; and well worth the cost if you want the best possible sound. The earcups are so soft I listened for over 2 hours with no hint of discomfort. I wear glasses and the plush pads produced zero pressure from the headset like I have found on other units. No more headaches from extended headset wear.  I certainly can highly recommend this awesome headset for its quality, beautiful full sound and advanced technology 'everywhere you listen'.

This is a really good headset. It's comfortable, feels sturdy, and it sounds great. The included hard case is not just sturdy enough that I'm not too worried about my headphones getting banged up, but it also has neat little slots for everything so none of the additional components are rattling about loose - USB cable, 3.5mm aux cable, airplane adapter, instruction manual, and hi-fi USB wireless adapter. The headset seems to be aware of when it's taken out of the case, and is often ready for use without me having to turn it on. The sound quality is great. There's plenty of detail, even at low volumes; the range seems pretty good; and this headset is capable of playing back decently heavy bass without muddying the rest of the audio. Currently, I tend to use it where it's paired to my phone over Bluetooth and my computer via the hi-fi USB wireless adapter (the manual calls it a BTD 700). I don't tend to listen to FLACs or anything on my phone, so this setup works best for me. You can also just use the headset over a USB C cable - it seems pretty plug-and-play as well, at least on Windows 11. As far as the user interface goes, there are a bunch of touch controls and things. I've never really cared for those and hate having to remember patterns, so I am really glad you can also do everything from the app. Interestingly, you can also disable certain controls from the app - I've never seen this before, but I am a huge fan of it since I often will wear my headset in bed when I can't sleep and find it really easy to accidentally trigger commands on headsets I'm wearing. Honestly, I think the only complaint I have about this headset is that I really would have preferred the pairing button be separate from the power button. I really like this headset, and I'd absolutely recommend it if you're looking for a headset to listen to music with.

This is what a travel headset should have, a case with a place for everything you need that is decently slim and can fit nicely in a backpack. The headset is comfortable, the pads are just big enough to fit over my ears, so my ears don’t get bothered and the material is comfortable, the material on the top is extremely comfortable to touch and has some good cushioning. The overall built quality is top notch. In the box there is a USB C Bluetooth adapter, it is not paired with the headphones out of the box but works great. I like the fact that I have the option to have it as I might want to use it with my laptop, work laptop, tablet, kids tablet, or a random computer. There is the weird adapter for airplanes if you want to use that, it can be nice if the plan happens to have a movie you want to watch on their screen. I don’t love the Aux connector on the headphone, I really wish it was a full Aux size, but the cable comes with it and the case makes it easy to keep track of so it’s not the biggest deal in the world. Speaking of things I don’t love the touch controls, now I am not a fan of any touch controls so take what I say with a grain of salt. I mess with my headphones too much and every time I do I mess something up. One time I was talking and somehow, I muted my call but couldn’t find my phone (Bluetooth range is excellent). In the app you have the ability to disable the controls which I did and they have been exactly what I want ever since I did that. The controls are cool and fun but just don’t work for me. Though the one disadvantage to this is I need to open the app now to control the ANC, which works extremely well and doesn’t buzz my head at all. Now to the Audio… these sound awesome, they support lossless audio over Bluetooth. Between the noise cancellation and the wonderful bass and the overall clarity these can really let you just tune out the world. And of course you can turn on transparency if you can’t tune out the world for whatever reason such as kids. The Sennheiser HDB 630 is close to if not at the top of my all time favorite headphones. Firstly they look and feel great. I have a large head and these easily fit with room to spare. They are super comfortable for long sessions. At first I had planned on just using these to play music from my phone. But after hearing them I decided to connect them as my main audio for all my TVs output. That's apps like Netflix and YouTube, as well as all my gaming consoles. The High res audio is amazing! There is perfect separation for locating things in games. The audio and bass is tight. I mean that it's not that overblown rattling bass. Perfect accurate bass, miss, and highs. The adaptive noise cancelation is the best I've heard by far. It's almost too good. Drowns out all but the loudest ambient noise. It has a claimed max battery life of 60 hours, but I've never tested that. However after a full days use it still has plenty to go another full day easily. I went from just wanting these for phone audio on walks to using them for basically everything. Sennheiser knows their stuff. Super high recommendation!

I find these headphones really well built despite not having any metals on the outside, I assume to keep the weight down. The materials feel very sturdy. I specifically like the metallic-looking finish of the frame and the subtle glittery finish on the black plastic. The sliding adjustment of the ear cups is a little loose for me, but they don’t shift around too much during use. The cushions are very well designed and don’t give any fatigue after a lot of hours, especially in my case where I wear glasses and have had to take breaks from headphones due to them pushing the frame against my head and ear. The top of them could use a little bit more cushioning, but they’re not uncomfortable. The audio quality is astonishing compared to many other headphones I’ve tried. The audio is heavily detailed in the mixing and locations of the sounds - it truly gives the feeling of being in the room with the artist. I find the headphones in general to be a bit heavy on the treble, but that may be in an effort to increase the clarity and not muddy it with bass. That being said, even with the “bass boost” option in the app, it still feels a bit low on the bass. Another impressive aspect is the range of non-distortion. Increasing the volume just enhances all the details that you’re able to hear without muddying any of the individual elements. It holds the sound together in a beautiful way. Listening to some music that I’ve listened to so much, literally hundreds of times, I was noticing new details that I had not noticed before. The clarity and audio sensation when on a wired connection or using the wireless USB-C dongle is simply outstanding. I used the dongle on my phone and compared it to standard Bluetooth. Being able to switch between the audio forms showed a CLEAR difference. The dongle allowed me to utilize the “lossless” higher bit rate streaming to enjoy audio at quality I have never heard before. I find these headphones really intuitive to use. As for the touch controls, I was a little skeptical as the play/pause action is only one tap, but I have had zero issues with the headphones not registering my touches as something else. The audio adjustment can actually go up and down multiple ticks depending on how far you swipe your finger, which I find to be a great feature - but this does take some practice to get right. As a preface: I am nitpicking here! The ANC is still very good. However, here are two complaints: first, I find that it doesn’t filter out much for higher frequency things compared to another pair I’ve used a lot, and the general strength of the ANC is not as strong. Second , I was trying them out with power tools that have a consistent sound to them. This sometimes seemed to confuse the ANC into just switching off and on for a few seconds while I was using a power tool. Positives: The above instance made me wonder if it was confusing the frequency for a voice and reducing the ANC so you can hear the voice, but I realized these headphones don’t seem to have that feature. Second, there isn’t any sound leakage, even when moving your head or singing along. The app is super easy to use. I genuinely like the design and EASY customizability. I’ve never had a crossfeed feature before to blend L/R audio, and I found myself really enjoying using it. I find the controls really intuitive to start with, but I love that there is the ability to customize the gestures and touch controls to do what you want in case there’s something that doesn’t work for you. The provided EQs are overall great, and I appreciate the variety! I also listen to a lot of classical and the classical EQ brought out a lot of great sound colors. Overall, this is a great choice for an audiophile or enthusiast, given that it gives you multiple options to experience higher quality audio and it clearly has the capacity to handle it. I could also see someone using these as studio headphones for mixing. If someone’s commuting on public transport, my only complaint is that the ANC isn’t as strong as I’d hope for the listener to get to hear the genuinely lovely sound quality.

I enjoy how much thought Sennheiser put into the carrying case that comes with these headphones. The case is sturdy, but not bulky. Every cable and adapter is positioned perfectly within the case to not come in contact with the other components. There’s an elegant beauty to the curved shape of the headphones, accentuated by the ear cups which have touch-sensitive controls but no visible markings. It’s a minimalists dream. There are three listening connections available: Bluetooth, wireless BTD 700 dongle, or USB-C connection. In Bluetooth mode, audio is muffled. It’s as if the music is playing on one end of a gym and I’m standing on the opposite end trying to make out what is being played. I have to crank the volume up several levels to feel like I’m hearing the source and the extra volume is not adding clarity or range, it’s now just louder muddled noise. The poor performance is disappointing because this is the most convenient mode and it’s one I don’t think I’ll ever use with these headphones. Moving beyond Bluetooth, the next audio quality bump comes from connecting the BTD 700 dongle to the source device. The headphones paired seamlessly with this dongle and audio quality lost the muffle. There’s only one problem - the USB-C dongle is not long enough to be plugged into an iPhone 17 Pro without taking off the iPhone’s case. I tried 4 different iPhone cases and none of them allow the BTD 700 to plug into the iPhone. The tip of the BTD 700 is too short. Sorry Sennheiser, but I’m not willing to pull my iPhone out of its case every time I want to listen to headphones. Strike 2 for wireless connectivity and quality audio. On the other hand the BTD 700 connected to my Sony Playstation 5 which is great. No luck on the Xbox Series X as the connector on the BTD 700 is USB-C. Controlling the volume, changing songs, pausing, etc is all handled from the right-ear piece. Simple gestures make for a smooth intuitive experience and I love being able to slide my finger up and down to control the volume instead of having to hunt for a physical button or dial. It’s a great thing that Apple finally joined Google on the USB-C port adoption allowing both the iPad and the iPhone to connect directly with the headphones. And oh my, that physical cable connection is a musical euphony. With a physical cable connection I am now enveloped in the music. I experimented with various audio formats including Dolby Atmos, Apple Spatial Audio, and just good old fashion audio books from Audible. In every sample the results are fantastic with the physical connection and in all cases drop to sub-par when falling back to bluetooth connection. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Adaptive audio are two other features included with the headphones. I’m not a fan of adaptive audio on any headphones, but the ANC features did a nice job when I roamed around the home and neighborhood. I have not been able to take these on a flight to see how they perform, but I’m looking forward to testing the experience.
