I got these so I could watch TV quietly while my 5 year old falls asleep. They work very well (connected through the optical input) and even my wife who is a professional musician confirms they offer a great sound.

We live in an condo with insufficient wall and ceiling soundproofing, so we both RS-185 to not only reduce our noise to the neighbors but to prove clearer sound to ourselves. This product along with the second headset purchased work extremely well. The set up was easy and syncing both headsets was a snap. We now manage our own sound (including left/right balancing) from our seats.

-=First Impressions=-
These feel well packed and fairly well built. For what they are charging I would expect better build quality but it is still nice. It is fairly easy to setup and the hardest part will be trying to setup digital out from your TV if you are using a surround system. I have a Samsung TV from 2017 and it didn't seem to figure out I just wanted constant audio out in ADDITION to HDMI ARC support. This has nothing to do with Sennheiser but worth mentioning. They cover and fit my ears perfectly and are lightweight. I went on a binge watch for like 6 hours on Netflix and didn't remember I had these on. They don't do ANY noise isolation but that is to be expected since they are open back headphones. You will still hear your surroundings if that matters to you. Good sound, I expected way better but it is still good. Setup was a breeze. Connection dropped in and out quite frequently but range was great. I think this has to do with all the wireless interference I have in my home. There are around 29 wireless devices and 3 wireless routers/Aps so I didn't expect perfection.
Things I like:
+Mobility - Not restricted to a cord and can move freely.
+Wireless Range - I live in a three story home and had coverage on all three floors. The base was in the basement to test the range. Advertised a little over 300ft. I would say it is pretty accurate.
+Rechargeable/Battery Life - It is always charged when you use them. Just make sure you hang them up after each use. I made it to 6 hrs of use and have no issues believing the advertised 18hr battery life. I can't watch TV that long so I can't confirm that.
+Sound Quality - Sound is reproduced almost exactly like the source's quality. Rich sound from low bass through to crisp highs.
+Fit - Fit was perfect and balanced. Batteries are located one in each ear cup which makes weiand not one single movement during my run or workout. I ran about 5 miles and then did my weight routine. Not a single wiggle. Great job Bose!
+Setup - Quick and easy. Plug in your source and power them on… everything works!
Things I would change:
-Open Back - Just preference, but I don't like hearing my surrounding, but they do sound good because they are open.
-Lack of controls - There isn't anything but volume buttons and balance. No EQ or amplification options.
-Volume - For me these are low but sound good. I like them louder but it doesn't take away from anything.
-=The Verdict=-
If these go on sale and you need wireless sound for digital or audio inputs get them. There are other options out there. I had high expectations for the brand and price but I can honestly say I was underwhelmed. Buy on sale not full price. Check out the lower model in the lineup too.

if you are looking at these and will want to use with a phone or laptop, I suggest also getting a female RCA to a Male 3.5mm aux. that said, I am giving it a 4 star in part because I feel they could have included that, especially because they show that as the way to use with a laptop. granted it was not on the box and states it only has RCA and optical for inputs.
I have a few headphones/headsets and I love these. they are comfortable, and easy to use. the range is good. I have walked thru my place and not cut out. the sound is great. its not to bass heavy and just a great blend of sound. I don't mind that they are open ear headphones. this allows my wife or kids to say something to me and I can hear them. sometimes not what they say but I know they are talking to me and I can pause and keep them on and hear what they say, and the volume is loud enough and clear enough that I can still hear what I am watching. its almost like having a nice surround sound system and someone says something. with that, others can hear what you listen to as well. but not as loud as if it was playing thru a surround system and they have to be next to you. so I can watch a movie or something in the front room, and kids and wife can be in bed and they wont hear it.
a few things I would like to have seen. I would have liked to have had a aux plug or something on the head set that maybe you could plug into your phone or computer that way. I would have liked to seen a few more options to connect to it. like I mentioned, a aux input would have been nice on the base part and maybe even on the headset. maybe Bluetooth as well.
would also have been nice to maybe have a output on the base piece. this way I could run my RCA or optical cord into the base and then out to another device like a sound bar or even to the TV or something. that is not reasons I gave 4 stars, but would have like to see.
I gave 4 stars because of a couple things. one I feel that this day and age many like to use there tablets, phones, laptops etc. most of those do not use RCA or optical. they use Bluetooth, or aux. so I feel they could have had those options, at least the aux like I mentioned at first. its a cheap part around 2-5 dollars and I feel they could have had that included.
it also lacks a button maybe to adjust for different sound types. the buttons on the headset includes a left and right to pick which one you want to adjust the volume for, volume up and down, a button to switch from a auto to manual mode and then the power button.
I like that you can adjust the left and right separately. I am more deaf in my left ear so I can set that higher and my right lower. but I just end up setting them the same myself. most don't have that option anyways. so for me that could be something else. the button to switch from auto to manual is also a button on the base. so that could have been something else as well. especially because in manual mode you have to adjust how you want on the base anyways. so any or those could easily be other futures. maybe a bass boost, etc. I also don't like that you have to use these with the base. why I wished it had a way to plug directly into the headset.
but overall the things I would like to see different, don't bother me to much. like I said, it does what it says in the description. But its 400$ the headset it self is 200$ (unless on sale). so with that, I compare these with my bose for instance. and these I like more and the sound. I think in part because of using RCA or optical for sound. but the bose do Bluetooth or can plug directly in and use a aux cord. and the bose are noise cancelling. but with that said, my bose for instance seems to lag. watch movies on TV and the mouth movement does not line up. where as with these it does.
so overall I give it a 4 and I do recommend. and to get more out of these, I suggest getting the RCA to aux adaptor. maybe even longer RCA cord so you get a bit more distance if you want as well.

The earphones are worth the price!! My husband really does like them and wears them everyday. I am much more relaxed in our home with the TV either muted or volume in a relaxing volume. I have endured years of loud TV - the volume would sometimes be on 60. Have already recommended product to a friend.

Great headphones for multiple listening needs

As far as wireless headphones go, these are great to replace corded counterparts.
The unboxing and setup is quite interesting. These headphones are definitely designed as a international product, as it is the first time I have ever seen a wall plug included for many countries power needs.(EU, UK, US, AU). The adapters swap out of the main plug very easily but you are otherwise left with several adapter plugs and nothing to do with them. Great if you are a traveler and can take these headphones anywhere and have the correct plug type for the country you are in. The directions are very lacking, as it comes as a giant unfoldable one page step by step quick guide. Most of the directions are described as a picture, with very little wording actually describing anything, but shown in multiple languages. It's not too concerning considering it is a particularly easy product to set up, but I do wish there was more verbal description with it. You can Google the headphones and view a nicer PDF version of the instructions though if you need. Which I strongly recommend.
As mentioned, setting up is very simple. The package comes with 2 options for hooking up an audio source. It comes with an optical cable which is for HQ Digital audio streaming, and also an RCA cable for regular analog audio hookups. I found it best to hook into a receiver with audio out RCA connections if you have one to cover multiple audio sources, but can be direct connected to any device with optical or RCA audio outs. Optical will definitely give you the best sound.
Two batteries are included and one must be put in each ear cup by rotating the ear pad plate from a locked position. It can be a bit tricky to get the plate lined back up and rotated correctly to put back together. After hooking up and plugging in the power to main base, it is recommended to let the headphones charge on the base to full. On first charge they say to charge for at least 16 hours uninterrupted to optimize battery performance, then roughly 8.5 hours needed to fully charge from dead from then on. It is no where near a fast charge, but it is easy to charge and includes a light indicator on the base that lets you know when fully charged. (Red for charging, Green for charged.) The headphones give between 14-18 hours on a full charge.
Turning on the headphones is easy, as there is a power button on the base and the headphones themselves on the right ear cup; as well as volume buttons, balance buttons and a level button. I don't have a need for balancing in headphones, but you can adjust the volume greater from left ear to right ear or center it. Pressing both the left and right channel buttons at the same time will set the balance back to center. There are beeps on each ear when maxing out balance for each side. The level adjustment is used only for RCA connections, as connecting with the optical line just makes it flash, and shows in directions *(RCA Only)*. It helps equalize the input signal to stop volume jumps and can be switched between auto or manual, and includes a level control knob on base to adjust sensitivity for manual control. A level control button on the right ear cup can be pressed to switch between auto and manual.
The sound quality is great. It is a very nice blend of bass, mids, and high's. It can also get pretty loud. Connecting to a source with an equalizer would be the best option to adjust the audio to your needs, but is also great with out it.
Overall these are very well rounded, very comfortable, high quality wireless, great sounding headphones and can transmit very well. I am able to walk around the house on multiple floors and outside as well with no interference. They say to stay in line of sight of the base, but works great all over but might have different results depending on your living situation or things in your home that could block the signal.
An overall great investment!

Great wireless headphones...

I was really looking forward to getting these headphones, and I can happily say they are everything I was looking for in a set of cans for my home set-up. I consume a ton of media and was looking for a set of headphones that had great sound as well as the versatility and convenience of being wireless. These deliver in both areas.
They are slightly unique as they are really intended for dedicated purpose home use. They do not connect via bluetooth, but rather an RF system. As such, the phones come with a dock that not only serves as a charging unit for the headphones themselves (battery life is fantastic), but also as an “in” for your audio source and finally as a “base” for your signal. I guess a lot of people expect bluetooth here, but the 185’s are not really designed for that kind of experience. What you may lose in connection options is made up for by better range and better sound due to uncompressed audio. For me, that is a win-win.
Design-wise, the headphones are full-size, open-back, and comfortable; however, given said design, they do not offer noise-cancellation. Something to consider, as you will hear outside noise. They offer a fair amount of padding and the felt cups feel quite nice. After a few hours, I did not feel any fatigue, as they did not seem tight on my head. As always, this could vary from person to person, but I do not think it will be an issue.
The wireless is rock-solid, has a great range and only ran into some small issues when I was really testing the limits, trying to see if I could cause problems: no line of sight, multiple floors, sets of walls…etc. In “normal “use, I suffered no signal break-up, had no range-issues and they sounded great.
As for sound quality, they deliver. I mean, they are not perfect, they are a little light on bass, and as always, you can get better sound wired for less money, but the main reason for these is to get better audio from a wireless product…and you do. Audio is loud, clear, and clean.
Ultimately, I really like these headphones. They have a lot to offer: good audio, great wireless, a comfortable fit, extended battery life and Sennheiser quality. All of that said, understand what these are intended for and know your use case. If these fit your use case, as they perfectly did mine, I think you will really like and enjoy these headphones.

I don't want to discredit this product. It definitely has very positive attributes....BUT......Set Up info is somewhat limited. PLEASE UNDERSTAND, My Review is somewhat tainted given my lack of time using this product. BUT.......I have used it enough to say that until I'm confident that it is probably one of the best units I've ever used, and I have used a number of them. ****

I've had the RS 180's for years in the bedroom and bought these for my new living room setup. I loved the 180's except the the pairing switch was on the base. Constantly forgetting to press before going to bed. The 185's allow pairing on the headset. Great Move!!
Also comes with a optical digital cord, but if you use this setup, you'll need to defeat Dolby Digital on your STB or TV or it won't accept the signal.
Out of the Box the headset were rather tight, but over a few weeks the fit is great.
Some reviews have stated a lack of bass and I would agree on TV shows, but run music through these and they really rock and the bass is solid. So I suspect any bass issues are due to the audio source and lack of base on TV shows, not the headset.
I dropped one star because of the wireless signal. The 180's carried through most of my house seamlessly for at least 100 feet through walls. This RS185's lucky to get 30 feet and it starts to break up, although zero interference and a super clear signal when in line of sight of my TV set. May call Sennheiser on this.
Also wish the balance and volumes buttons were further apart, tough to find the right one by feel, but not a big deal for such a quality headset, it's worth the hassle.
Overall a great headphone, amazing sound with music and you'll be happy with the general TV and movie sound as well.
