Body: The build quality is amazing, The company did not skimp on how comfortable these things are from the velvety ear cups to the deep air channels in the metal cross member connecting it to ear cups together. The padding of these headphones are super heavy but trust me after wearing them for over 2 hours they became part of me. Sound: As I watched the standard movie the sound these headphones produced became all immersive. The headphones produced a deep rich base in super high highs. So in this respect they received high marks from me here. Next, I wanted to see what these things are really capable of so with quick steps, I set it up to use with my playstation and let me just say I have officially retired my $200 plus gaming headphones for sure. These headphones easily outpace my previous gaming headphones by leaps and bounds and also became super comfortable, As my 4 hour gaming session continued on, if you're doing the math that is 6 hours of continuous, without a sign of the provided rechargeable batteries giving up the fight. The headphones come with a charge stand and it was a great addition. Not only do they charge the headphones in approximately 2 hours but they also make a great place to store the headphones. No longer do I have to just sit my headphones down and worry about damaging them, they have their own personal space to reside. I highly recommend these headphones I give them an 11 out of 10 if it doesn't come lightly. For I'm a bit of a headphone snob. So have no fear on your purchase you will be very happy as I am.

After a long search and comparing many many makes and models I went this this set of headphones. One main reason is they are open back so I can hear my cat banging on the screen door when he wants in at night which is when I wear these so as to not annoy the neighbors with a loud TV and having all the doors/window open for summer evening ventilation.

So I'll lead this off by saying these are Sennheiser, and there's a certain level of expectation with the name. I've owned Sennheisers in the past and have been extremely happy with them, so for me to give these less than 5 stars is a feat in and of itself. Now to get down to it. The initial packaging and presentation is what you would expect of a premium set of headphones. The packaging is well thought out and not difficult to get into while still ensuring the headphones are well protected. You definitely had the idea that you were opening a high end piece of equipment. Once I got them out of the packaging, there were a couple of oddities I noticed immediately. Now I do recognize that these are intended for listening, but in this world of communication that we live in, it was strange to find certain aspects lacking from these headphones that even high end home theaters have. These are not bluetooth capable. They do not have a microphone at all. they have 2 connectivity options ONLY, the red and white RCA connections and an optical connection. The headphones themselves are extremely lightweight, almost to the point of feeling cheap, so I hope that does not turn out to be the case as I continue to use them. Setup was about as straightforward as you can expect. You connect power, your audio source to the input, select that input, put the batteries in each of the earpieces (one on each side, I imagine to distribute the weight) and turn them on. It really could not be any easier than that. They are comfortable and sound excellent. The bass is full bodied and the treble is clear and definitely not tinny. The volume controls on the side of the headphones are easy enough to figure out without looking at them more than once (there are no controls for changing tracks/files/pause/play or anything like that however). The range is very good and I can easily use them throughout my house. I will say though that because these are open headphones, there is no real privacy to what you are listening to. It is quite easy to hear what is being listened to by someone that is sitting near the person with these on. In using these, I've found that the earpads can shift a little bit, causing them to snag on the U bracket that holds the earphone to the head band. This seems to me to be a bit of a design flaw, could they not give the earphone 1mm more clearance to prevent this, or design the earpad a little better to prevent shifting? The bottom line for this is that they really are a great sounding set of headphones, but a replacement for wired headphones is all they really are. They introduce no great benefit in terms of connectivity (really they have less than you'd expect), control, or even construction quality. So as long as you know what to expect and buy these with those expectations, you will be happy, but a marvel in technology they are not. Pros: Excellent Sennheiser quality sound Good Volume Great Range Cons: Limited connectivity options No controls beyond volume Questionable construction choices No microphone Open design

    Great Overall Multi use Headphones

Quite awhile back I switched to using wireless headphones so I wouldnt bother others, but after hearing how much better things sounded I stuck with this for all my audio. Over the years Ive used a few different headphones, some better than others as far as audio goes, and some with better features, etc. But there was always something I had to give up in one way or another. Either they sounded good, but had to be constantly charged or just the opposite, Great battery life and/ or features but not so good audio. My solution at the time was using 2 sets of the same headphones that had good sound with built in rechargeable batteries but not so great battery life, and just swapping them out as they needed charging. That was until now. With the Sennheisers I get the best of all these (battery life, features and audio). Some people prefer a built in rechargeable battery. But I prefer swappable batteries. And with these its easy to just pop in another set of batteries and let the others charge. But with the incredible battery life this is rare. And of course the main reason for headphones is audio, and the RS 185's do not disappoint. They sound amazing. No sacrificing quality for bass, or bass for crisp audio. They have great overall sound. And the build quality is great. Nice and solid, but not heavy at all. Very comfortable for long sessions. The Sennheiser RS 185's are great overall multi use headphones. Nice audio, comfort, battery life, build quality, and features make for the perfect way to enjoy all of your audio. If your'e looking for just one set of headphones that “have it all” instead of needing different ones for different usage these won't disappoint.

I read reviews and was excited about using this product for late night audio with the convenience of wireless. It worked great until brief lapses in connection happened more and more frequently, until it became unbearable. I finally returned the phones for a full refund.

    Really good Home Theater Headphones

So if you are a home theater specialist you are going to love these head phones. The comfort on them is amazing and the padding is both firm and yet soft to the touch. The adjustments for your head can be a bit stiff, but once they are adjusted to your head then you won't be concerned about adjusting them afterwards. Setup of the headphones is simple enough and is similar to a hookup to a soundbar or other audio equipment. The charging base is also the connector and just has a 4 pin connector on the top that you rest the headphones on that allows it to charge. Although it seems the connector sometimes doesn't click right with it there is an LED on the base that tells you once it is connected which I appreciate. In terms of pairing the headphones to the base there is no setup simply power on the headphones and the base starts right with it so just plug in the base, run your audio cables and it connects just like that. Coming from someone who is used to premium audio I am still astonished by how good Hi-Fi audio sounds. It is so accurate in so many places and it just makes it a wonder to listen to high quality music. Listening to games as well just makes it amazing and I just wonder if the only reason it doesn't sound even better is because of the source that it comes from. In my case I used the back of my TV and the optical audio cable, which is included, and it sounds amazing. Top notch audio all around and you won't be disappointed.

    Quality Headphones with Quirks

Let's start this out by saying these headphones deliver exceptional quality in sound, but they also have a couple issues that hinder them from being great headphones. These are best suited for a home theater setup, with that being the best application. The design of the headphones look nice, while also delivering a somewhat comfy fit. They aren't heavy, nor are they light, about what you'd think they'd weigh. They are, however, pretty bulky, and are sort of blocky, with the earcups delivering poor pressure points. The buttons on the side of the headphones are fine, but honestly feel a little out of place. The sound quality is pretty good, as mentioned, and the mids-and-highs really shine here. Now the issues really: the headphones cannot work without the charging stand, there are no Bluetooth capabilities, no case included, won't work for sports, and bleed sound very heavily. There also are no noise-cancelling features here, so don't expect the ambient noise to go away. There is no way to hook up a mic for these, so if you'd ever like to speak and use the headphones you'd need a separate microphone for that. Bass seems slightly average, and treble could be a little better. So all that said, these headphones are a mixed bag. There are better options out there, and especially for versatility these don't have. They do have good sound and build feels solid. 2 year Sennheiser warranty. Don't recommend unless found on a killer sale, or you have a very quiet theater environment.

The Sennheiser wireless headphones are decent-sounding with a comfortable fit. There is definitely nothing mind blowing about the sound but it is good. After watching some shows, listening to music and even gaming with this Sennheiser headset I can say I am pleased overall. They fit just fine and I really enjoy the microfiber earcups. They are very comfortable. The build quality is okay. Mostly plastic that feels a little on the cheap side but should stand the test of time. I used a RCA to 3.5mm adapter so I could use them with my computer monitor and it works great. I would say the only downside for me was that the sound cuts out when I go upstairs. All our media equipment is in our finished basement and when I go upstairs the headphones cut out. Not a total surprise given that the concrete is most likely weakening the signal. I'm sure the range is far more for those that have a different layout. Still a bummer though.

I have finally found a solution to watching my over-the-top action/adventure/fantasy movies late at night! I needed a way to enjoy my hobby without driving my spouse from the room and these Sennheiser headphones are the perfect solution. They arrive very well packaged and include both RCA style and optical cables. As noted in other reviews, these are designed with a base unit that acts as a charger for the headphones and also where you attach your audio source. Assembling the unit and installing the rechargeable batteries (one per cup via a clever twisting earpad) was very easy. Although the headset is rather large they are adjustable and comfortable to wear. I struggled a bit with getting them integrated into my home theater setup but finally was able to directly connect the base unit to my blu ray player via the optical cable. The sound quality is very good. You can also adjust volume from the headset itself and you get great separation and an almost surround like affect that is actually enhanced by the open-back design. In summary - these are a very good option for anyone needing a solution to add a flexible, quality private listening option to their home entertainment system..
