Customers recognize the excellent sound quality and comfortable fit of the Stereo Earphones. Many appreciate the secure fit, which prevents the earbuds from falling out. However, some customers have concerns about the durability of the cord and the bass response, with some reporting issues such as uneven cord length and a less-than-ideal bass quality.

Great Sound, but Poor Quality

I'm a big Sennheiser fan and I love these headphones. They fit in the ears very well and never fall out, even while running and lifting. The sound quality is excellent. Price is a little steep, but I'm hoping they last a while.
The only problem is that the input at the end of the headphones came out of the rubber sleeve that held it in place/protected the interior wires from being exposed. This happened within the first 2 weeks of use. This makes taking the headphones out of my iPod very difficult as I have to be very careful as to not damage the wires.

You will not find a better, clearer pair of headphones with such bass and noise isolation. Have owned several pairs, none failing due to poor quality build. Will only switch when they release an updated version. Will always recommend, and so will you. friends underestimate when they see how thin the cord really is, but get blown away, hearing and feeling their favorite music in a way. Even on the train, you will only hear music.
unfortunately, the asymmetrical design works againsts righties, as the split is on the left side, making you wear the cable across your chest, if you keep it in the right pocket. this restricts slack, even more if you keep it in your right back pocket, like i do. it's not an inconvenience, but i feel its a huge oversight in design, considering 90% of people are right handed (just googled.)

Best Under $100 IEM's

The Sennheiser CX 300-II are probably the best IEM's you can get for under $100. Sound quality is excellent. My only concern is that the thinness of the wire picks up clicks and pops when it hits something.

If you're looking for a cheap pair of earbuds with good sound quality then these are it! They don't come near the likes of higher end ear buds like the IE80, but for the price you can't get better!

The high frequencies are very clear while the low frequencies are not as muffled as like I hear them from my previous in-ear headphones (ultimate ears 220 I think). I've used them for a couple of weeks and I can't find anything wrong yet. If you want headphones for under $50 this is a great steal.

I thought the sound quality was very good. I use them commuting on the train. A problem though was the wires to the earbuds were uneven and so it was lopsided. Definitely brought down the rating.

These in-ear headphones don't fit everyone, I use the smallest set of earbuds and it still irritates after a while. The bass is pretty good, and the mids and highs come out. Works well with a iPod or phone but it isn't comfortable for long duration listening.

Puchased from Bestbuy.com for $29.99. If anything goes wrong atleast I can go back to the store. I have tested many headphones (not earbuds ofcourse) and Sennheisers to me, offer the best value for price and sound. Up until about a year ago I had always used cheap headphones and earbuds. I never put any thought into the quality of the sound. A musician friend of mine explained that having decent headphones makes a huge difference into the enjoyment of music...so I went on a quest to find some. Of course I started at the bottom and bought some iLuv Lights...awesome headphones for $7! and the Panosonic 120's for $8, again, awesome! For the price, those 2 earbuds are an amazing value. Still, I wondered what higher value earbuds must be like...are they worth the extra money? I went back to researching. I recently bought a pair of YourBeats (Lady Gaga) for my daughter and tried them. (I got a great deal - $29.99 at my local FYE store). I hate Beats because they are way over priced...but for $29.99 they are well worth it. A great sound, rich in bass...defined mids and crisp highs. You can hear a lot of what is going on within the song. So my daughter was happy, but what about me? I then came across these, CX300's. I already own 2 pairs of Sennheisers, the HD202's and the HD219's....nice sounds from both...and both $19.99 each. Having read the reviews for these CX300's I figured why not, Sennheiser offer great value and a great sound.
I was blown away by the quality of sound when compared to my cheaper iLuv's and the Panosonic 120's. I didn't think the difference would be so wide! The CX300's do offer enhanced bass!...but there is plenty of air space in my ear for the mids and highs! Depending on the song you listen too and your EQ settings, the bass can be strong and thumping...but still controlled...there is no rumble or after quake, if that makes sense. The mids are scary! So clear that it can give you chills! I could hear so much, so many different instruments...amazing. The highs are fresh and crisp and very pronounced. Like taking a strong mint and breathing through your nose! Honestly, listening to music with these things plugged in, it can be a little overwhelming. You're listening to one area of the music but then another instrument will come forward, yet you can still here the first....it's confusing LOL !!! Think of it like closing your eyes, and swimming around within the music. It now makes me wonder what a $200 pair of earbuds might sound like? better than this? it's hard to believe.
The product itself appears well made. L shaped gold plated 3.5mm plug. The 2 ear piece wires, one is longer than the other which is great, I can tell which is left and right without looking at the tiny R and L....the longest side is the Right. They come with 3 sets of ear adapters (S,M,L)...the medium was already fitted. After testing, I found the large to be the best fit for me. The only complaint I have is that the ear piece(speaker) itself is small and round, there is no hard stem to help you push the ear piece into your ears. Infact where the wire connects to the ear piece, it's soft rubber which makes it difficult to get the ear piece into a confortable position in your ear. I wish they had some sort of L shaped hard plastic arm to help you. I have average sized ears and fingers, but these earbuds appear small in size....so it's a little tricky getting set up.
For $29.99, I am more than happy. My cheaper $7/$8 earbuds will now be reserves. These CX300's take the music listening to a whole new level. Amazing!
Good Luck!
(On a side note....I think the CX300's sound better than the YourBeats Lady Gaga.... I paid the same price for both but the CX300's separate the sounds so much better. The YourBeats seem a little more...'muddy' I think is the term they use).

I am a firm believer that, except for the cheapies, earbud style headphones all sound pretty much the same. well, that is incorrect apparently.
i usually get the cheaper (not <$20) ones. I've been very happy with a set of Sony buds I picked up for $30. The sound is ok, but the comfort is excellent. No more sore ear after 30 min of listening like the stiff buds.
I picked these up on sale and put them on in the store before leaving. I mostly got them because I left mine at home, but had the Sansa and needed some music for the commute. As soon as I turned the player on, I couldn't hear anything around me. People talking, music, etc, nothing was getting to my ear drums except beautiful music selected by yours truly.
The one complaint I have RIGHT AWAY is the size of the plug. D*mn it's big. I'm sure it's because thats the first part of the bud to go, but d*mn it's huge. Also, not too thrilled about the shorter wire on the left side, but I guess I'll get used to it. Hopefully I wont snag it on my handlebars like I did the others.
I'm really liking them so far. Time will tell, cause with most new things, you like them at first but then....
They did come with a case, but I haven't even taken it out of the packaging, still in my bag.
I also added a link to the other ones I usually get because of the comfort and price and my Sansa. This time I wanted to try something new.

these sound great and have been providing excellent sound for a year or so.. the gold plug slips out of the 90 degree rubber protector, and I have yanked these delicate wires several times, and they amazingly never broke! This tells me the construction is good, but not fastening this rubber boot to the jack seems like an oversight to me. I used super glue to glue it in, and it's very strong now. Great headphones but beware the rubber boot near the plug..

I've read many good reviews for these Sennheiser CX 300 headphones, so I felt it was time for me to hear them for myself. Right away you can notice how detailed the highs & mids are. Bass is alright. If you enjoy music where vocals & highs are important, Sennheiser might be one of the best in that category. Also with that being said, it might not be for everybody. Vocal detail is very impressive & the highs are bright. Music has a transparent & hollow sound, almost un-natural because everything is sounding too clear. The bass is not too boomy or tight. It's a very clean sounding bass because Sennheiser focused more on the vocal clarity with these headphones & that lessens bass impact. During bass heavy tracks at higher volumes, these headphones cry uncle! That's pretty sad if you ask me?!? The ear gels don't fit all that good; the small ones are too small for my ears & the medium are a tad bit too big. Sennheiser is the 1st brand I've ever had this problem with. If I'm standing still they stay in my ears fine, but if I go running they fall out easily. I also dislike the un-even cord length. In the price range, the sound from this Sennheiser CX 300 is forgettable compared to the Altec Lansing BackBeat 206's. With all that being said, these are the type of headphones I'd take along during less important activities. So if they get bumped, scratched, or even jacked.. I wouldn't care less because there rather forgettable. If Sennheiser is what you want, you're better off buying the CX 400 headphones. They have better bass response, with similar highs & mids of the CX 300's. Even with that, the CX 300 & CX 400 are no match for the Altec Lansing BackBeat 206 headphones. Plus Altec Lansing has a better model in the BackBeat 326's which currently is top dog in sound compared to headphones in the $99-$199 price range. Save your money and buy Altec Lansing or V-moda headphones, Sennheiser could've done a lot better with the CX 300 model.

I bought these to replace a pair of Sennheiser cx-495s that got lost. I have to say that these sound great and are very comfortable. I do not really like the left cord being shorter but that is a minor thing, you do not really notice it. I have owned many ear-buds over the years and I have to say that Sennheiser is the only brand that I will use now. I wear these all day while working in the shop, they never fall out and never loose there sounds quality. I would highly recommend these to anyone.

These are some of the best in-ear headphones you'll find for the money. They fit nicely in the ear and are very comfortable. They block out sounds very well and are basically ear plugs with speakers in them. I use them for playing sports and they do the job well. The only thing I don't like about them is that the cords are a little to thin. My first pair got cut nearly in half and I didn't even notice when it happened.

To start, I am a headphone perfectionist. I've tried on over 50 different types of headphones ranging anywhere from the cheapest to a pair of $1,300 AKGs. I know what great headphones sound like. These Sennheisers cx300 II are ok. I've had these headphones for around 6 months and still am not impressed. Compared to other headphones in it's price range, these don't stand out. The headphone's frequencies are not balanced well. Too much highs, ok mids, and poor responding lows. The headphones hit all these frequencies but not perfectly. The lows are there but sound crackly and weak. There is no depth in these headphones. The highs are screaming and give me a headache after 10 minutes of listening. Although the performance isn't the best, these headphones are comfortable for earbuds and are built with quality. To summarize these headphones, I'd have to say they are generic headphones with crackly lows and screaming highs (an unbalanced frequency response). These headphones are good for people who listen to vocal music with no lower frequency instruments or people who get them for less than $25 dollars, as I did!

This was my first upgrade from the standard Apple earbuds. You will definitely hear things you haven't heard before! I got them on sale for $50 and picked them up in-store. I was thinking about buying them on Amazon or another cheaper store, but as I researched these, I found that the cx300's are a highly counterfeited item, so if you're getting them for $25, they're probably fake. I wanted to make sure I was getting genuine ones, so I bought from an authorized dealer. These earbuds have very good bass, which was one of the main things I was looking for, but there are also good mids and highs too(I have the equalizer set to bass booster, since I really like strong bass). They are very comfortable and I didn't have any problem fitting them in my ears. The cord does act like a stethoscope when it rubs against something, but I'm not usually moving when I use them, so it's not really a problem for me. They have very good sound isolation and I here nothing with music playing, not even yelling or noise while riding in the car. Overall, these are good quality earbuds, a little more expensive then some, but it was worth it to me.

Real Solid Headphones

These headphones are aweeessommme!
All my life I've had apple headphones which are serviceable.
First of all I noticed they're a pretty solid make. Tough rubber, metal buds etc....
Then I used them with a video game, it was crazy---like surround sound.
Music is awesome, great bass. With these headphones you can't really hear the real world though. Just your music. That's a positive though.
They have this J design which at first was confusing, but once I realized how it worked it was awesome, it's more secure, so when you take a bud out it doesn't just hang at your side
All sizes I used slipped out of my ear when I used them for exercise but only like once every 15 minutes.
Best Headphone Ever!!!! Make sure you buy the warranty, since it is kind of a hefty investment for earbuds

Loved the First Pair!

Loved the first pair i bought before this current design i think i used them for 3 years till the cord started shorting out. I bought my current pair and when BBY had them on sale i bought another pair to have as spares. They have great response and i would say they are as good or better than the Beats earbuds.
These are awesome for using on a plane because the are very effective at blocking out noise (though not as effective as active Noise Cancellation Cans'). I would recommend these to anyone that wants a great pair of earbuds and doesn't mind paying a few extra bucks. they are well worth the value.
