This bed is the perfect amount of softness, I have had it for 1 month and I absolutely love it!

I'm a side sleeper and my previous mattress was many years past its best use, but I thought it was comfy. I also woke up each morning with hip pains. This mattress alleviated that and still gave me comfort with some minor modifications. First off, when you unbox this, it will take a while for the mattress to expand. Give it a good 1-2 hours to fully expand and firm up. As it's doing so, occasionally shake the top of the mattress to make sure everything is expanding evenly and lining up. I didn't and ended up having to tug at the top to line things up as one long edge was super stiff and the other one super soft, leading to almost rolling out of bed. You'll want to leave it for another few hours after that for everything to reach max expansion and also to let out some of the chemical smell. It's not horrible, but you can tell it was wrapped in plastic and probably a disinfectant for a while. Second, this does have a memory foam top, but I found it wasn't enough for my needs. I moved my topper from my old mattress over to the new one and slept wonderfully for the first time in ages. I also woke up with no hip pain as the mattress was still firm enough to support everything, even with the extra memory foam on top. Lastly, while I was able to get the sides mostly evenly firm, one side still had a bit of softness to it, especially when rolling out of bed. I have my bed next to a while, so this became the wall side. You may not have the same option, so if you sleep in the middle of a room, you may want to consider a traditional mattress.

My personal opinion, i wish i had never purchased this mattress. First of all, for the price, its not worth it. The springs are horrible. The material on it pulls easily, tears easily. Im just so upset i am locked in to having to pay almost 800 dollars for something i just want to get rid of. Never again. Also for anyone who is wondering why i didn't have sheets was because when i ordered the mattress i had to purchase the sheets a few days later. The bed, even the slightest scratch, pulled strings up, and also within a day i had a tear .

I’ve seen all the hype about foam mattresses with no inner springs, or even mattresses that are completely made of baffled rubber, but I never felt ready to take the plunge. Part of the reason for that is because I wasn’t ready to give up the support that comes with inner springs. Sure, we all have that memory of the “spring that sprung” or the noisy springs that drive you crazy, but when done right, springs provide the best overall support. I was happy, then, to learn that hybrid mattresses were a thing. Combining layers of gel, foam and inner springs, hybrid mattresses are attempting to be the best of both worlds. We ordered the Serta - Simmons 12" Plush Hybrid Mattress with a bit of skepticism, but willing to give it a try, since our mattress was over a decade old. The mattress arrived in a big, rectangular box, weighing in at about 45 pounds. Not small, but not unmanageable. Once we opened the box, we found the mattress tightly rolled up, wrapped in plastic, and containing no air. We rolled it out on our box spring and could immediately hear the whooshing of air filling up the mattress. Serta helpfully included a letter opener to allow us to cut the plastic off without harming the mattress. Yes, an actual letter opener that you can use for opening letters when your mattress no longer needs it! Although the mattress expands pretty quickly, it still takes a bit of time to expand to its full height, which in our case was about 12 inches. The top layer is memory foam, and turned out to be firmer than I at first thought it would be. We were pleasantly surprised at just how comfortable it was! Movements from one of us were dampened very well so that the other didn’t feel much. Before we actually slept on it, we weren’t sure it could displace our existing mattress that has a bit of a pillow top, but after one night on the new mattress from Serta, we weren’t going back! I’d describe it as just the right level of firmness coupled with just the right level of plush. The instructions warned that it might stink for a few days, but we didn’t find any annoying odors that lasted more than the first few hours. Now that we’ve slept on it for several days, we like it even better. The only negative that I can think of is that the edges aren’t as firm as I’d like. That only matters when you’re sitting on the edge of the bed, putting your socks on, for example. Normally, the edges are reinforced with wire to make them stiffer. I assume that’s not possible on a mattress that is rolled up in a box. This is a minor quibble, but one that you may want to know about. All in all, we’re sold on this mattress. It is now our “daily sleeper” and we hope to get many years’ use out of it. I can find very little not to like, and I highly recommend it if you’re in the market for a new mattress.

If you are a side sleeper like my do not buy this mattress, you will sink. It’s too soft for me.

I did NOT know how a good night's rest felt until meeting Serta! Honestly, I had been long overdue for a new mattress; but Serta has been well worth the wait. As a person with lower back problems, this mattress offers a good night's rest on many levels! It is easy to adjust to as my previous mattress was on the queen-sized lineup too. I love the features that this mattress has from small details to large. I am sure, I will continue to get a quality's night rest along with many peaceful sleeping beauty moments!

Stiff as a board. Not plush whatsoever. Springs are so strong a elephant could lay on this mattress. Made my back problems worse. Had to order a mattress topper to make it usable. I couldn’t recommend this mattress to anyone.

After opening up the box and laying the bed down, it “inflated” very quickly and was ready to be put in place in virtually no time. For about a week, there was a distinct plastic smell that bothered me a bit when I was trying to sleep, but that is expected in this context. The bed is fairly firm (not too firm or squishy), but it contorts to the body in very comfortable ways. It took a few days to get used to how it regulates temperature. I tried different blankets to see if maybe I needed more and the bed would do the cooling, or vice versa. The mattress does a good job of staying cool throughout the night. I also have had some back pain for a while, and I definitely think this mattress has helped my issues a bit. I also have noticed I don’t wake up in the middle of the night as often with this mattress; I am not tossing and turning like I would with my old one. Overall this has been a great change for me from my much older traditional mattress.

I got the Serta-Simmons mattress to replace an aging one in my guest bedroom. When it first arrived I opened the box, unwrapped the first layer of plastic wrap, the used the included cutter to easily remove the vacuum-sealed wrapper. I let it rise for a few hours as suggested and put it on the bed. It did not have any noticeable odor which was a big plus as I had guests coming that very evening. The next morning they absolutely raved about how comfortable this mattress was with one even noting her hips didn't hurt in the morning like they normally do on her own mattress. Intrigued, I slept in the guest room the next evening. I absolutely fell in love with it and ended up moving it to my master bedroom! It is supportive but not too firm and (perhaps its wishful thinking) it seemed to sleep "cooler" than my regular mattress even though that's not one of the advertised features. I now have three friends who have bought this same mattress, including the couple who slept on it the very first night it was out of the box! I would highly recommend.

We got this matress to replace the thin basic mattress we had on our daughters bed. This matress is about twice as thick as the one she had previously. We were suprised by the small size of the box it came in, especially being a hybrid vs an all foam bed. To our plesant suprise, the bed inflated nearly immediately! We had assumed it would have taken hours! Our 7year old absolutely loves this mattresses. I would describe this matress as medium firm. It is just plush enough that someone who likes a medium plush bed would enjoy this matress but someone who prefers firm would also enjoy it. One thing we were not thilled with this matress would be that there is zero side support. If you sit on the edge of the bed or lean in that area the side collapses all the way down. Overall we have found this matress to be quite comfortable for a box matress and believe it has improved our daughters quality of sleep.

Mattresses like this are just not there yet. I got this to replace an 8" mattress in a box because the 8" had no support and I would hit the platform often. So I see this 12" listed as a plush (I would think top of the line- fancy) Hybrid (I would think has the comfort and control of a real mattress but the ability to stuff in a box) and I was wrong. Sure, its light weight like any bed in a box would be, but again, no support. I can still hit the platform and there is no side support. When I sit on the bed to tie my shoes, I sink to the platform. I would guess this would be a good mattress for a child or a light weight adult, but not the average person. One nice thing it once out of the box and wrapping it took seconds to come up to size, unlike our last bed in a box that 3 days...ug
