Customers are delighted by the Air Purifier MAX's ability to improve air quality, operate quietly, and effectively remove odors. Many appreciate its sensitive performance and ease of use. The only concern mentioned is the display brightness, as the lights do not dim automatically at night.

This is a great product! We burn our wood stove all winter long and my sinuses usually play havoc on me. Since we installed it, I have felt much better. Great for pet hair allergies too!

I’m really happy I decided to try this Shark air purifier. With 4 cats, I’ve owned my share of air purifiers. However, this past weekend my son spent the night and he even forgot to take his allergy meds! That’s never happened. I’m please with the performance, love the dimming feature.

This product is amazing, I upgraded units to get more square footage. The first time that I cooked inside the house it instally told me how long ut would take to clean the air! I love the dimming feature on the display and the abilty to completely turn off the LED display. When running to clean the air it is on the louder side but not louder than my previous units.

Great Auto Mode and Very Quiet

TLDR:
(that’s Too Long, Didn’t Read)
Extremely quiet even at normal settings and not very loud at the fastest fan setting. Automatic mode works great and the air quality sensor/displays are informative. Large filtration surface area. The display can be dimmed or turned off by pushing buttons, but doesn’t dim automatically at night.
Pros:
* Unassuming design fits in most spaces.
* Attractive displays and easy to use controls.
* Display can be dimmed or tuned off manually.
* Automatic setting works for nearly all situations.
* Convenient handles for moving or lifting the unit.
Cons:
* Lights do not dim automatically at night.
* No remote control.
* Have to tip the unit upside down to change the filter.
Details - Setup:
Filter installation is done from the bottom of the unit. You have to tip the entire unit upside down and rotate the base off to install or swap the filter. I have a round air purifier from another brand that also has the filter installed at the bottom, but with that one, you can rotate and lift the top off rather than tipping the unit upside down. Not a huge deal, but it just seems a bit less convenient for the once or twice a year you’ll need to do this.
Once the filter is installed and the unit is placed right-side up again, just tap the power button. The unit enters Auto mode and for most situations, that’s all you need to do. There are few other settings like disabling the beep that accompanies button presses, or dimming the displays, but this is all optional.
Details - Typical Usage:
The Automatic mode works really well. There is a built-in air quality sensor that determines how dirty your air is and adjusts the fan speed automatically. I have the unit installed my master bedroom and it mostly stays at the lowest fan speed which is nearly silent.
My only complaint is that my other Shark air purifier, which is much smaller and less expensive, has an ambient light sensor that automatically turns the lights off at night. This new Max unit is missing that light sensor, so you need to tap the Brightness button to dim or turn off the display. Even if left in the dim setting, it still lights up the bedroom quite a bit at night, so I need to remember to turn off the display before going to bed and turn the display back on in the morning. Again, at this price point and especially since their smaller/cheaper model does this automatically, I wouldn’t expect to have to do this. Perhaps if it had a remote, I could do this from bed, but no remote came with this unit.
Conclusion:
Very quiet and the air quality sensor works really well for running the unit in Automatic mode. I wish it dimmed the displays automatically at night, but otherwise it’s a really nice air purifier for medium-sized rooms.

Purfect Cat Odor & HEPA Air Purifier

The Shark HP200 Series Air Purifier has proved to be a great addition to our bedroom for controlling cat odors and keeping our air clean.
The unboxing and setup is easy. I turned the unit upside down, removed the bottom cover, removed the filter and the plastic wrapping, re-inserted the filter, attached the cover, set the unit upright, plugged it in, and turned it on. In a large living/dining room area, the purifier started with an air quality of 64%. Four hours later it was at 98%. Impressive for such a large area.
I moved it into our bedroom and it has kept the room at 99% air quality. That is with a cat who sleeps in our room and a bad air pollen season. The air is noticeably cleaner and refreshing to smell.
The unit has a QR Code on the side, which when scanned will provide a browser site with instructions, FAQ, Troubleshooting tips, and access to the store for buying accessories and filter replacement. We keep the unit in Auto Mode. The fan will adjust depending on the air quality. Since we keep this in our bedroom, I really appreciate being able to turn off the beep when using the controls and being able to turn off the brightness of the display.
I highly recommend the Shark Air Purifier for anyone who suffers from pollen, and cooking smells. And with the high quality True HEPA filter + Microban, it provides antimicrobial protection and reduces bacterial growth on the HEPA filter surface.
Features
• Auto Mode - Automatically sets the fan speed based on real time air quality.
• Fan Speed Setting - 1 Low, 2 Medium, 3 High, 4 Max.
• Air Info - Toggles through Air Quality %, estimated time to clean air, amount of PM1 particles (viruses/allergens), PM2.5 particles (smoke/bacteria), and PM10 particles (dust, mold, pollen).
• Brightness - Full, dim, off.
• Shut-Off Timer - Set between 1-12 hours for automatic shut off.
• Filter Life - Shows the remaining life of the filter.
• Child Lock - Locks/unlocks the controls. Use with Info button to toggle button beeps.

Sleek & Quiet!

The Shark Air Purifier MAX is the perfect purifier for most homes. It cleans up to 1200 square feet, looks great and is super quiet. So quiet you’ll forget it’s there. Set up is a breeze. Take the included filter out of its plastic shipping wrap, put it back it and turn it on. That’s it. Although there are a number of manual settings, letting it do its thing by leaving it on auto works great. The smart IQ senses the air quality giving you a percentage of clean air on the easy to read screen. It will also let you know how long until the air is clean. When I first plugged it in it read 96% clean air. Didn’t take long at all to reach 100%. Around the digital screen is a round light that changes colors to give to an easy to see guide to your air quality. Just remember blue is good, red is bad :-) Giving you HEPA & microban protection is a must these days. Needless to say that anything that can help keep your homes air quality healthy is a good thing. We have a dog and two cats so needless to say our air can use a little help. Already I’m noticing less “pet” smells and dust. If you find you need to kick things into high gear by setting the unit manually you have that ability. But honestly, I can’t imagine needing to do so when it works incredibly quiet & well in auto. Highly recommend!

Shark did it again with another great purifier from them. This one really gets the air clean and I’m super happy with the way it’s been working out for me lately. From pets, smoking, and the weird kitchen smells it cleans the air and keeps it fresh.
This air fan purifier is packed to the gills with features that are essentially a mini version of their Air Purifier 6 but still pick up the air from large rooms. Unlike that version, this one doesn’t come with a remote control to use. “Clean Sense IQ” intelligently adjusts to the room air and cleans the air for you showing you stats in real-time. Over time this can go from 0% to 100%. On auto mode, it adjusts to air quality and prolongs the filter’s life span.
There are touch-sensitive buttons on this model as well as lighting up. I noticed with some air purifiers the label rubs off over time (Levoit has this problem) on buttons so having these are appreciated. The buttons light up but there is a way to turn it off if the lights are too bright. Fan Speed Control, Air Info, Auto, Filter Life, Brightness, and Timer Buttons are all displayed at the front of the unit. On the LED indicator there are Three colors around the ring of light let you know what levels the air is in; (You can turn off the LED indicator/lights)
Blue = Clean Air
Yellow = Half clean Air.
Red = Bad Air.
It shows on the display; PM1.0 (Number of particles, allergens, and viruses in the air.), PM2.5 (Number of smoke and bacteria in the air.), and PM10 (Number of dust, pollen, and mold in the air.)
Setting it up was as easy as plugging it in and putting the filter in. I also like the footprint of this Air purifier over the Shark Air Purifier 6 as that one is a pain to move around. Shark Air Purifier MAX is the perfect height for any room it needs to be in.
Overall it knocks out any older and cleans the air really fast. I truly enjoy having this product and Shark does know how to keep the air truly clean. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who looking for a very good air purifier.

Well its allergy season again here in the Phoenix area and this year with the heat and dust mixed in our sinuses are driving us nuts. Saw Shark has the new “Air Purifier Max with True HEPA” available and decided to add it to our collection.
Unboxing and first impression:
The air purifier came very well protected in a large Shark logoed box, there’s only a startup and operations guide in there with it so it’s pretty simple. There’s a tag on the side that states that you need to remove the plastic bag from the filter before using. This is about as simple as it gets, you just turn the device upside down, give the bottom a good ¼ twist and lift the bottom off. Inside there’s the filter in a protective bag. After removing the bag from the filter and checking it out it appears that there’s three layers. The 1st layer is a large particle filter, and then what looks like a carbon fiber layer then the HEPA filter. Putting the bottom back on and flipping the unit over is all it takes to get it ready to run.
The air purifier is almost identical in size to our Molekule, it’s a lot lighter though and only weighs about 11 lbs. making it very easy to move around from room to room if need be.
Use:
This unit is super simple to use, you could just power it up and walk away. The fan came preset to “auto” and will sense when the air needs a good scrubbing and change the fan speed accordingly. The filter is advertised as having “Microban” and it seems to have a slight smell when first turning on “nothing that strong” and it went away after a hour or so of use.
There’s a display on the front of the device that shows air quality “or filter life if selected” which is a nice touch. The intakes for dirty air are all around the bottom half of the device so you don’t have to worry about blocking a small inlet; the outlet is on the top of the unit.
There are controls on the top for Power, Auto Mode, Fan Speed “if wanting to adjust manually”, Air Info “switches between, brightness, “so you can set the light intensity of the display”, auto timer, filter life, and child lock. What I do like is that this device is not connected nor has any connectivity; it’s a standalone device and doesn’t need an APP or an account to run it.
Conclusion:
From what I can tell it cleans the air every bit as good as our Austin, Molekule, Bissell, Airpura, Filtrete and Blue Air air cleaners. The air coming out is nice and fresh smelling and it does a pretty good job of removing cooking smells quickly “especially if run on high or “Auto””. It is quiet on low and progressively gets louder the higher the setting, the volume is pretty much on par with the others and on “Low, or Auto Low” it runs virtually silently and very easy to sleep by. The lighting can be dimmed or turned completely off so it won’t disturb your sleep.
I was also amazed at how light the unit is, so it is very easy to move from room to room using the side handles. The filter itself is pretty large for this size of device. The filter element itself is just a tad bigger than the Molekule, smaller than the Austin Air by a lot “but so is its price” and bigger than the Blue Air. Changing out filters is a breeze , and for the money it’s a great buy, so you may want to put this Shark Air Purifier Max at the top of your list when out shopping for a new air cleaner.

Auto-Sensing Air Purifier for Large Spaces

INTRO:
The Shark Air Purifier MAX with True HEPA (HP202) sets out to be an intelligent air purifier that can self-manage keeping the air clean within a 1200 sq foot area.
UNBOXING & SETUP:
When you first open the box and remove the first piece of paper egg carton protection, you’ll find the Shark HP202 Air Purifier and a getting started guide. Upon lifting the HP202 of the box, you’ll need to gently turn it upside down, remove a couple peels and remove the bottom door to access the HEPA filter. You’ll need to remove the plastic wrap around the HEPA filter, then reinsert it and securely close the bottom door. Once that is done, you can flip the HP202 upright and plug it into the wall.
One discrepancy I do want to mention is that manuals from Shark indicate there is some sort of Remote Control that can be used with the HP202, but no remote control was provided in the box or advertised from the outside packaging. I think a remote would be a great addition, so it’s disappointing that it does not come with the HP202, and my own research on Shark’s website indicated that none of the remotes they have listed are compatible with the HP202.
BUILD:
In terms of build, the HP202 is a very plasticky build. It’s a bit disappointing considering the price you are paying, but at least it is lightweight and easy to transport from room to room. The downside here is that I’d be a bit more worried in regard to any incidents where it could potentially tip and fall over if you have very energetic pets or children who accidentally knock it over. So I advise caution in terms of where you place the Shark Air Purifier MAX within your room.
Additionally, there is no pre-filter which means larger particles like hair and dust will be pulled into the HEPA filter and will more quickly reduce the lifespan of the filter. I suspect that this choice was to prevent obstructing the amount of air that could be pulled towards the filter so that they could achieve their 1200 sq ft rating. Adding a pre-filter would cause a change in pressure and would likely reduce airflow.
CONTROLS:
Upon plugging it in for the first time, the power button light will turn on so you can see where to press to turn it on. Pressing and holding the capacitive power button for a few seconds, the system will turn on and the front display will light up and the control panel on the top will illuminate all of its various capacitive controls.
On the capacitive control panel you’ll find the fan control, an info button to toggle between various air quality stats on the front display, a brightness control, a timer for running the purifier between 1 and 12 hours, a button to show the filter lifespan, and a child lock to prevent accidental touches during operation. Every time you press one of the buttons on the control panel, it makes a chime noise, but you can disable that by pressing and holding the info button and the child lock button together for a few seconds.
In terms of things that Shark could improve upon, I think being able to automatically cycle between the PM1.0, PM 2.5, PM 10, % Clean Air and Time to Clean views during operation might be helpful. That way, at any given time, you might be able to take a glance across the room and see how it’s performing. Since there is no remote control as of writing this review, it is a bit more cumbersome to have to walk up to the HP202 just to cycle through its stats.
PERFORMANCE:
By default, Shark recommends using the Auto/Eco mode as it will sense when air quality decreases and will adjust the fan speed to pull in the air to purify it. Once the Shark reaches 100% clean mode for 10 minutes, the purifier will enter eco mode where it will wait for the air quality to decrease before ramping up the fans.
During operation at the lowest fan level (1), the fan is very quiet. When my central air is running in my house, I cannot hear the HP202 running unless I am within 1-3 feet of it. When there are no other surrounding noises, the fan is a whisper.
On fan level 2, the fan is certainly more audible, but still more of a relaxing noise. That being said, level 3 and 4 are much more audible and are more necessary for scenarios where the air quality is going to be below average such as high-heat cooking.
While I cannot objectively measure how well the Shark Air Purifier MAX performs, I do think it makes sense that it is marketed towards a larger 1200 sq ft room, as it does have a reasonably large fan and moves quite a bit of air.
While I wouldn’t trust it to dispel larger puffs of dust, I do think that this is great for cleaning up smoke, pet odors and cooking odors.
CONCLUSION:
The Shark Air Purifier MAX with True HEPA is not the most sophisticated air purifier on the market, but its goal is to focus on cleaning the air in a large room rather than being the smartest air purifier on the market. While it lacks a smartphone app or an included remote control, it isn’t inherently necessary if you leave it in Auto mode so that it can turn on as it sees fit. Operating it is very easy, and it appears to do a decent job at cleaning the air in larger rooms. Compared to many other 1200 sq ft air purifiers, Shark is asking for a much lower price, but also fewer features. So if you’re after something that gets the job done without a ton of bells and whistles, the Shark Air Purifier MAX may be worth considering.
