The ION Multiflex IF281 is another winner from the folks at Shark! This little vacuum is perfect for smaller areas or where you need a lightweight but powerful device. The unit was very well packaged and assembly was literally a snap! The included instructions got us up and running in a matter of minutes. I was a little apprehensive about just how powerful a battery operated device could be and also how comfortable it would be for use over an extended period of time since the battery is mounted at the top of the unit. I shouldn't have worried. The battery is quite compact and this little vacuum has plenty of suction and features dual brushes in the powered cleaning part that sits on the floor. It has settings for carpet and for uncarpeted flooring. It even offers LED "headlights" that are very useful for illuminating the area you are cleaning. I am extremely happy with the unit's flexibility, It clicks apart into three configurations - a standard floor vacuum, a handheld vacuum and a handheld with an extension wand for cleaning out-of-reach, overhead areas (goodbye cobwebs!). The Multiflex ships with a crevice tool and an upholstery brush and two batteries for extended cleaning times. The only downside that I can see is that the removable dust bin is on the small side so you will need to stop and empty it more often than you might be used to. Also, initially seating the power plug into the charger assembly was a bit more difficult than I was expecting. In summary - this little sucker is another homerun for the folks at Shark. You absolutely should give it a try!

I've wanted a cordless vac for sometime, but had not made the move due to price and general uncertainty about how well one would work. Having a Shark corded vac already, this cordless unit was selected on the basis of my good previous experience with Shark. My first impression was that the cordless vac was very quiet and it seemed that the suction may not be what I expected. One press of the 'turbo' button and that changed my impression. With turbo mode enabled, the suction was what I expected and it was more than adequate. The trick is that you need to press the turbo button for a 1-minute "burst" or you must continually hold down on the button. I've been impressed with how well the vacuum cleans the multiple surfaces on our main level where we use it. Tile kitchen and dining floors, slate entry floor, wood living room and bedroom floors, and a couple of rugs of varying heights. It works well on all surfaces. The ability to bend the handle to maneuver under furniture seemed a little wonky at first (wobbly), but it really does the trick. I farmed more dust bunnies in the first use than I realized existed under the end table, entertainment center, night stands, beds, etc. I got 15 minutes with turbo mode engaged on the first battery -- and then swapped in the second battery to finish the entire main level. I also used the furniture attachment to clean the cold air returns and to remove pet hair from the bed in the guest room (sorry, guests). We will definitely be using this vacuum to do general daily cleanup in a number of rooms. It is so much more convenient to do a quick - and thorough - vacuuming than it is to get out the broom, do a so-so job, and then push the dust around into a pan for removal. I will be recommending this one to friends...

This is the most versatile vacuum I've ever owned. Storage is easy. It can reach every nook and cranny. The top vacuum part detaches easily for use on stairs or upholstery. The only down side to this unit is the small tank. It requires way more frequent stops to empty it out than your normal vacuum but it's hardly a deal breaker. This vacuum is very light as well making everything a breeze. Surprisingly strong suction for a battery powered unit as well.

The roller on the vacuum stopped working after 2 years of usage. After a long discussion with customer service, they determined it wasn’t covered under warranty and insisted the warranty only cover motor even though the warranty states “ original unit and/or non-wearable parts”. I had to pay an additional $100 to replace the base unit. Costumer service was awful and the product is sub-par. Avoid purchasing this product!

Good vaccuum, just not enough run time for what I need. Should be plenty for most people.

Picks up anything. Best vacuum for the money if looking for an alternative to a dyson.

I tried a lot of other cordless vacuum and this one is by far the best value.

Live the sweeper. I just wish you didn’t have to fold the handle down every time.

Let me start by saying that we have another brand automatic vacuum running daily in our house due to the pet hair. We need a vacuum to supplement what that vacuum misses and also for bigger messes. We are a family of three and a golden retriever that sheds like crazy! Our house is full of tile with a few large rugs and then carpeting in the bedrooms. The Shark ION Multiflex was very easy to put together. It is lightweight and folds up when not in use. The suction works very well on our tile floors and the rugs. I don't know that it worked as well on our bedroom floors with carpeting. I know our little automatic vacuum picks up a lot - but I know that it leaves a lot deep down in the carpeting as well. I don't feel like the Shark was able to get all of the dirt and hair form my carpeting. It definitely seems like a vacuum made for lighter jobs. It did a great job on the tile floors and rugs. The battery seems to last a long time and it comes with a second battery so you should never be with out. A good lightweight cordless vacuum!

This is my second shark cordless vacuum and I really love these units. It is so convenient to grab the shark multiflex, unfold it and clean up the mess. I have small kids and cleaning up after them with a light weight vacuum is nice and not having to deal with cords is a huge positive. My wife is amazed that I would actually grab a vacuum and clean something! This particular vacuum comes with 2 batteries giving it up to 80 minutes of run time. switching from low power to high power is simply a touch of the button on top of the unit as is going from carpet to hard wood. I really can't say enough good about the ability of this Shark vacuum to clean about any type of surface and the main unit separates from the rest of the vacuum to clean furniture, steps and other hard to reach places. If your in the market for a light weight, capable vacuum, this one is a really great choice.
