Overall very happy with this purchase. Works great on my laminate, hard wood, and carpet flooring.

This works just as I expected. Great for my hardwood floors and area rugs. Run time is plenty of time for me to do my whole house.

The first one I purchased I had to return within the first month due to an issue with the vacuum "spitting out" everything it had just cleaned up. The employee at best buy was great when I returned it and I got the same exact model. Fast forward 8 months and the second one is doing the exact same thing. It's a good thing I have the warranty because I'm sending this one back too. Also, when I use the "boost" for extra power, it shuts the vacuum down within seconds. disappointing.

Never thought I’d be excited about and reviewing a vacuum when I was young but I kinda love this thing. It weighs practically nothing. Has two power speeds. The low speed is plenty for everyday vacuuming and the high speed I assume would be to show off your cordless vacuum. It’s fantastic to just detach the head, take it outside to my car, vacuum, and return in no time. No wrapping up, untangling, jumping over, or maneuvering around messy cords. I have hard wood floors throughout so I mainly use this on area rugs and the attachment pieces in corners and crevasses of the couch to get dust and dog hair out. I have nothing bad to say about this vacuum. It’s the vacuum I never knew I always wanted. Highly recommend.

Not that impressed with this vacuum. Not the best suction, only lasted a year before having to upgrade to a Dyson.

Upsetting that it comes with no hanging device . It makes it very awkward for storing, and charging. The stain looks like a better choice

Another great product from SHARK! The Shark ION X40 Cordless Handheld/Stick Vacuum is packaged very well. Instructions right at the top of the packaging, so easy to find. They are easy to read and it was quick to assemble the very few pieces of this cordless vacuum. I have never had a cordless vacuum, so I was especially interested to see if it did a “great job” picking up dog hair and the very fine dust we get here in the desert, and it does. My wood flooring in the dining room is always dusty and other products (mainly robot vacuums) do an “ok job” of picking up dust, but this does a great job! No streaks .. it gets all of it. The SHARK did a great job cleaning all of my 3 floor types: travertine, wood, and carpet. This X40 is also quiet … not like my robots that can be a bit noisy. I like this combo handheld/stick vacuum because it is lightweight – only about 8 lbs – so your arm and back don’t easily get tired using it. We have stairs to the 2nd floor, and this vacuum is great to use on them … cleans well … not heavy so comfortable to use while climbing the stairs; I’ve used the X40 as a stick and handheld and either way works well for me on the stairs. It’s very easy to switch between “stick” usage and “handheld”, which I really like. The tools (crevice & mini brush) work well and are easily changeable. I especially like the “charging” … since I have the choice if I want to charge the battery while IN the vacuum or remove the battery and put in the separate Charging Unit. Nice! Another advantage to it being removable is that if the battery needs to be replaced, it can be without tossing out the whole vacuum! Just replace the battery … just need to find where to buy IF it ever needs to be replaced! Out of the box, it needed about 1 ½ hours of charging before ready to use. The specs say 40 minute run time. I never hit this maximum runtime cleaning my main floor of the house (about 1700sf) … I never go upstairs since housekeepers keep that clean for me. The trash/dust bin is simple to empty but remember to hold over a trash can first, because once the button is pressed, the contents easily dump out. The ON/OFF button is easy to find and press. I like that the ION POWER BOOST is activated by pressing a button and that it only stays ON for a minute. These simple vacuum sticks are more for simple, lightweight jobs and not heavy cleaning … even though this SHARK does a good job at that as well. I like that the unit “stands up” when I store it on the closet floor, as opposed to hanging on a wall. I don’t like punching holes in my walls! This is a great, lightweight, secondary vacuum for your home and works well with other vacuums in my home … robots and in-wall vacuum system.

We really enjoy the Shark Ion Stick Vac. Setup is easy, and it does a terrific job. It's very versatile. I like the fact that the base pivots. Suction is strong. The charge lasts a long time. In fact, we were able to use it for more than 30 minutes right out of the box before even charging it. Design is a strong positive. It looks good and functions well. It comes with a bevy of attachments. I highly recommend it.

Worked ok battery life not long enough to finish cleaning

I will just jump to the flaw before praising the vacuum. There is another Shark model that folds in the middle that counteracts the top heavy state of the vacuum when attached to the floor brush and wand attachments. This one does not fold mid wand, so it is top heavy and will fall when stored or just stood straight up. As long as you remember not to free stand the vacuum, there are no issues. This vacuum is surprisingly powerful for being cordless. It will rival many corded vacs when it comes to suction power. You have carpet and tile settings and also a regular and turbo(?) mode with extra power. Extra power will drain the battery much quicker. There are multiple attachments that can cover almost any need. The attachments are the same you would need to pay other makers extra for. Battery life is really amazing. We have about 2000 sq ft carpeted and the battery will easily last a full vacuuming and usually part of another. Shark made another great vacuum that is a quality build and will surely last a while, as long as it doesn't tip over too many times. This stick vac could probably serve as a primary vacuum for a lot of people.
