Not what it's cracked up to be

I was looking for a replacement for my Dyson DC14 and thought I found it. I'm an engineer and usually research products thoroughly before I buy but took a chance on this one because I was unable to try it out in a store. The Shark Pro is well made but in my opinion lacks the engineering and ergonomics of the Dyson. The unit is top heavy and frequently tips over when using the crevice tool or brush - which is made worse by the hose which is too short. The cord exits near the bottom of the unit and is constantly being run over by the vacuum. The Dustaway attachment cannot be used w/o a cleaning pad; with the Dyson I can add several felt-lined floor cleaning attachments. To use the crevice tool or brush you must insert them into the top of the handle which is heavy and awkward to hold. Emptying the dust cup is a 2 handed operation that puts you near the dust and debris. With the Dyson, it's all done with one hand by pushing a single button - I empty the canister by placing it low inside a trash can or dump it into a spare grocery bag sprayed with water to capture the dust plume. Looks like I'm going back to Dyson - you get what you pay for.
